Very well done, Joe! I can't believe you got my council to actually *do* something - that's amazing! 😍
I do a lot of beach cleans and I'm sick and tired of dealing with things as problematic as polystyrene bodyboards, dumped on our beaches throughout every summer season by tourists. Thank you for helping us to protect these special places x

If you go to Indonesia, you can see kids in a whole village share and arrange time to play with limited number of boards they have, and they take care of boards so carefully because they cannot keep buying and throwing them away. It is sad to see somewhere people have so much of everything and just disregard the environmental impacts they cause to the nature.

Oh my god. As a cornish woman I absolutely hate when tourists come down and feel they have the right to treat locals like their servants and leave all their rubbish everywhere. Treat us like we should be grateful they are here but realistically they just ruin our beautiful shorelines and countryside. A family had rubber rings they didn't need anymore because they were going back home and were just leaving them on the beach and just left them. I said they needed to take them off the beach because they would float out to see where there is a local sea lion family that could potentially get trapped or whatever. They absolutely kicked off at me but I stood my ground and said they needed to remove it from the beach

The boards could also be donated to sew the covers over the styrofoam, onto the the bases of small/medium dog beds, to get them off concrete or tiled floors, to make them warmer for dogs.
The dog beds can either get mouldy, if not aired regularly, or sitting directly on concrete/tiled floors, it can make the beds quite cold. The concrete sort of sucks all the body warmth from the dogs body. The styrofoam is a great insulation.

Board pollution is a problem, that’s clear. However the way that lady takes pleasure in pronouncing the word “ban” says a lot about todays cancel culture.. this obsession righteous people have with keeping others from doing things, it’s so childish.

The proposed solution is what works: renting!
