Thanks. I have a similar turntable, a slightly newer model with about the same motor. I like the idea of flipping the motor upside down. Very helpful video!

Thank you sir. I just saved an Akai AP-206 from the dump today, and need to clean it up.

Those SWABS are priceless. LOL Elephant Q-TIPS
Capacitors on these units need replacing to get them spinning and locked from my experience. The controls and switches and VRs always need clean. I do it as routine as they all have the same symtoms and usually avoid interacting with the motor, other than clean and lube and then back together asap to reduce an accidetal FUBAR, {dropping, scratching, or doing something silly - done that before) . The unit has heavy chassis, very decent platter and a fairly beefy motor. This style is a huge improvement over the AC sync tables lacking pitch control or speed sensors a la PL-12D or any of the like.

Thks for another vid Trev. Yep, Dirty ( or even faulty) speed trimmers common on these aged tables, also on a lot of technics boards. I replace them with Bournes if they fit.

Nice job Trevor, you're becoming a turntable expert one table at a time. I'm a bit leery of the cheap swaps as I've found the fibers of their loose packing are often left behind, especially important in a bearing well such as that. I'm now using cosmetic swabs which have a tighter packing and are less prone to traces left behind.

Just imagine if an LP120 owner had gotten his hands on this baby. He probably wouldn't have noticed anything was wrong. But jokes aside, nice fix and video. Thanks.
Ps. Grado is one of those classics you can't go wrong with.

Well done and thanks for the video Trevor, nice turntable. I assume that wasn't a sintered spindle bearing?

I wonder if when adjusting Torque Difference (@36:32) using the Math function on the scope would have been a way to resolve the difference/similarity of the two signals?

I have the same turntable it wont play any sound from the speakers. The amp phono inputs is ok cause I have checked them using another turntable. I do not want to open it so my question is : Does the sound from the AP206 stylus passes through an internal preamp before going to the amp phono input?

I would SO rather have an analog scope for the servo adjustments!

This turntable isn't quartz locked, it has a servo that's adjustable

What a terribly misguided thing to do. If you had any idea of what this channel is about and what Trevor does, through his videos, for his community of followers you wouldn't even have given this a thought. SMH
