Yeah. When I make a city it’s more like, “I need…um…industry! Imma plop a bunch of cool looking factories I found on the workshop…somewhere…I guess not too far from housing that workers can’t get there, but not too close that they’re breathing smog…um I guess here-ish.” And I wonder why my cities don’t look real.

I think that Redwood Island is a good name for the little island, and Phase 5 can be Redwood Heights (or Hills). I think Phase 4 could have a holiday-themed name to bring together Verde Beach (green) with the Red of Redwood Island, plus it is that time of year! We have a ski resort near here called Holiday Valley, and while Phase 4 is slightly on a hill, it is lower than Phase 5 and might be able to take on the Holiday Valley name.

But, with this, controversy occurs as a developer from outside the city is building this area. Many residents want a local developer to make this area for a local design. In minor news, a flooding occurred in the nearby Iron county with 23 missing and 5 dead. What is opinion on this matter? Speak to me bellow and and I’ll see you next time!

Nothing went well in a filming point of view in this ep - the stadium burst into flames as soon as you started the time-lapse and the one house you singled out started upgrading when you were talking about it. Little story: my grandfather, by inheritance owns an island like the one you built the park and bridge on, and the government reacquired part of to built a road and rail bridge, as well as a parking lot. The island is mostly unusable to us. Love your work Phil!

I was going to make some suggestions but I have to remember this is just a vanilla build. There is 2 things I would suggest though that should be doable. At 27:05, the road connecting to the school can be a little more graded if instead of directly hooking up straight to the top of the hill, have it s-curve behind the fences and slope it up more gradually to meet the other intersection a little distance away from it, it may also leave more room for building along the top of the hill by moving the road as such. And at 22:50, whether the tree was there or not, the viewing deck does not work. What are we viewing there, people's back yards? Why not move that viewing deck down toward the water end of that trail. And I hope you properly zoned that area into 1 big park, it would help increase land values, maybe including that island with the Lungs of the City.

Looks Great! Two suggestions: 1. You could run a bus line from the stadium railway station the institute and the neighbourhood behind it. 2: At the Island, I would have placed a cemetery at the other side of the park, because it seems like a rather quite place where you could rest in peach. There's just one road on the island and no building whatsoever

  • @jonathasqueirozribeiromora1720

Hi Phill. Noticed you misser three road segments while replacing the trees for date palms. One near the highway, one near the city service buildings and one at the lungs of the city. Awesome story telling and awesome city building.

Love it! I actually think the floating wind turbine is a great way to jump power to the island because sustainable power goes great with nature reserves, and also it just looks cool! Also, are you planning on giving this new development any more public transit? Maybe just a tram or bus line, I think that could really help. Lastly, check the coverage for elementary school near the new phase - I don’t think there is much. Can’t wait for the nest episode!

Wind turbines eviscerate birds. I do not think they go well with nature preserves.

Hi! I’ve been watching you for a few months, but have watched ALL of the verde beach episodes! I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind doing a overview of the city. Like go through and explain where things are, such as the campuses, new neighborhoods, etc. i love watching this city grow but forget how big it is and where things are layer out!

I really enjoyed this video. I loved the finished product. I think one of the things that I enjoy about VB is that it really feels like you are forced to make a great city within the constraints of the game.

After watching your videos for so long, I've finally gotten off my procrastinating butt and started my first proper city. It may be lacking in aesthesis and real world practicality, but I've got around 35K (I think I'm around there) population, around 80% traffic flow, a 5 star lumber, farm, nature reserve, and zoo, a growing university, and a comfortable profit margin as I plan out my next major expansion and how I might want to set up my future airport. A key to the game I found is patience, especially in the early game. You've gotta accept that before you have healthy cash inflows from industry that it's okay to just sit and wait for your funds to build up for future expansion. Once I got my fishing and lumber industries established, money started rolling in and I was able to expand pretty aggressively. I'll get more "artistic" in my building in future builds.
Also started finding just how many elementary schools you need to keep the education availability in the green. The schools just aren't big enough. However, a liberal arts college and a cranked education budget (and maybe a third factor, it escapes me) goes a long way in limiting just how many schools you need to build.

Great balance with challenging shapes and topography of nailing the function while maintaining attractive form. Woulda liked to have seen the hood a bit more built out after some more sim time but I'm sure we'll be seeing it in a more developed state in the future.
It can be frustrating (for you most of all I'm sure) limited by vanilla but it's also more impressive seeing a vision come together looking great without the tools most of us take for granted. I'd have assumed any vanilla build would be my least favorite but I still really enjoy Verde Beach. And for console players I'm sure this is a huge inspiration. I also feel like your development lore continues to improve and get more fleshed out over time. Perfect example here of a cool new concept for phased development and then you go and layer even more content on top of that. Builds excitement to see what the future holds.
Do you ever see CC or Nicolet Bay ever getting to metropolis level like Verde Beach? Seems like Nicolet Bay was meant to be a counterpoint to VB but I could see CC go any number of directions.
