    Thank you for sharing! This is one of the more REAL conversations on moving abroad. It’s not too sugarcoated and packed with really good insight!Thank you! How much would you say someone should save up if they want to move to London? I am currently trying to create an emergency fund for this type of transition. Any kind of advice would be really helpful. Thank you!

    • @AllAboutAnika

      Thanks for your kind words! So it really depends on what you’re coming to London for. If you’re coming to study you’ll have to save more but if you’re working you will have a salary. I’d say the most you have to save for is a deposit for the flat and first month rent. I’d say monthly rent if you share a flat is 600-800 pound a a month. And then deposit is usually a month rent on top of that. But remember that’s just rent. Not utilities, or council tax, or internet etc. I’d say a few thousand would be a good start for the first few months. Good luck

I've been planning on moving abroad for a long time and I hopefully want to next year but the problem is that I live with my parents who are completely unsupportive and against this and don't want to help me in any way so I have to find out how to do this on my own but thank you for making this whole process seem easier.

I am planning to move to the UK or Germany in a couple of years when I finish my degree, but I wasn't sure, until now that I saw your video. I live in Mexico since I was born, but I am also German, and I was afraid of making a big decisition like moving there (since I don't know any German). Thank you so much

    How much should someone save if theyre moving back to the UK and already a British citizen? And is it better to work for a company where you currently live and just transfer rather than looking for an entirely new job ?

    Question, do you have to eventually apply for citizenship in the country you live in after staying there for a certain amount of time? I know you would have to if your final decision is to live there pernamintly and be involved in with it's system like voting there? If you apply for citzenship in that country, does that mean you are no longer considered a U.S citizen if that country does not do dual citizenship? Are the moving companies who would move your items including your veheicle overseas associate with airlines? Do you know any companies who move your items long distance within the country and overseas? If yes, can you please name them? Do you know any international job application websites?

    • @AllAboutAnika
      @AllAboutAnika  Před 2 lety

      Yes you can apply for citizenship after a certain number of years. For an American it’s after 6 years. Which is what I did. No I didn’t need to give up my US citizenship. I’m a dual citizen because my country allows that. I don’t know any company but I would say you should ask companies because many companies do offer relocation packages. I searched for all my jobs on LinkedIn. I hope this helps. Good luck!

    My company is remote and has HQ in London. Should I consult with them first?

    • @AllAboutAnika
      @AllAboutAnika  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes. If they can relocate you or give you a relocation budget it’s easier to go through your company. And if your company is already sponsoring your visa then it might be best to ask your company for help first.

      @@AllAboutAnika Hey! Do you feel as though it is very difficult to find a UK job to sponsor you for a work visa?

    • @AllAboutAnika
      @AllAboutAnika  Před 3 lety

      I won’t lie and say it’s easy but it’s not impossible. I found two different tech companies to sponsor me. So doable. But also now post brexit it actually might be easier for companies to sponsor Americans.

    Did you know German language before moving to Germany?

    • @AllAboutAnika
      @AllAboutAnika  Před 2 lety +1

      I did not. I learned some while living there. I worked in English but learned German after work. I’d say most Germans know quite a bit of English as they learn it from a very young age.
