    This is soo helpful. It might seem weird cuz I'm native Chinese and moving to China, possibly forever. Yet I'm so nervous (I grew up in Singapore). I was dying to move there all my life. I saved money like crazy but now that I'm finally achieving my dream I'm crazy anxious it feels like something will go wrong at the end. I hope everything goes well, it has to, I really worked hard for this

    yoo, tip for the "DVDs" one:- The modern equivalent would be to invest in a VPN subscription - this would allow you to change your device's country in order to watch different media. Another option is to download the film whilst you have access to it in your own country. I want to provide some alternatives just cos DVDs involve buying the DVD player too, as most computers no longer hold DVD ports. otherwise a GREAT video, some rlly niche tips that most haven't mentioned as I've seen haha. thank u vv much.

    • @WhereisMalikah
      @WhereisMalikah  Před 9 měsíci +1

      I thought that would work, but Netflix actually will know when you're using a VPN and eventually limit you. After like 2 or 3 months it started telling me to disable my VPN and I didn't so I can only see international or Netflix original content, nothing Licensed. And in places like Lebanon there is no internet half the time so you can't stream!

    Thanks for this! I'm moving to Germany in a few months, and I'm a little bit nervous; but this was incredibly helpful. The only thing I'm uncertain about is that I will still be working for a US company and getting paid in US dollars. I am not sure if I can ask my work to deposit my money in a german bank account or if they could potentially pay me in euros. Any thoughts?

    • @WhereisMalikah
      @WhereisMalikah  Před 10 měsíci

      They may have a payroll office in Germany if they relocate a lot of employees, but u can also open your own German bank account and transfer yourself money to pay local bills!

    Question, do you have to eventually apply for citizenship in the country you live in after staying there for a certain amount of time? I know you would have to if your final decision is to live there pernamintly and be involved in with it's system like voting there? If you apply for citzenship in that country, does that mean you are no longer considered a U.S citizen if that country does not do dual citizenship? Are the moving companies who would move your items including your veheicle overseas associate with airlines? Do you know any companies who move your items long distance within the country and overseas? If yes, can you please name them? Do you know any international job application websites?

    • @WhereisMalikah
      @WhereisMalikah  Před 2 lety +4

      Very complicated answers to these! I don't think it's required to apply for citizenship, but will be better if you plan to permanently live there but the process and rules will always be different per country. You don't automatically lose US citizenship but a lot of people give it up bc you still have to pay US taxes even if you move permanently.

    Thank you! We’re you able to find a good shipping company to ship moving boxes overseas . I am having a really hard time with that.

    • @WhereisMalikah
      @WhereisMalikah  Před 2 lety

      That is always tricky! Do you have to ship stuff or can you just use suitcases?

  • @extraadg65

    I'm moving from the u.s. to Algeria What shipping company did you use to send your personal items?🤔

    • @WhereisMalikah
      @WhereisMalikah  Před 11 měsíci

      Congrats! When I went to Italy I just did a few boxes from USPS and I have also done UPS to Lebanon. Not for anything oversized or high value. But every country will have different shipping companies that their customs usually works with. I would say ask someone at the embassy when you get to your visa if they have any local resources they recommend
