  • Can you ever have enough? One of my tree service firewood providers brought me three loads of oak recently. I guess it’s time to get back to cutting and splitting like I ever really quit.

    Hello Ben, good to see you going. I’ve taken a load or two to some friends of mine. I’ve got a excavating business & I often get jobs clearing for houses. I always am amazed at the folks that don’t want the timber. I always ask them what they wanna do with the trees. Most say just pile & burn. Then I ask them if they mind if I just haul it off & burn the scrub brush. I’d say 90% of the time they say fine. I guess they are just thinking about getting that new house up & done. Some of the logs I’ve brought home have been 40 inches. I have to cut them no longer than 10 foot to be able to load them. Be careful & keep the videos coming.

    • @OGAOutdoors
      @OGAOutdoors  Před rokem

      Yeah nothing like free wood. Like you said they are just focused on one that new home. I got access to a property down the road after the excavator left makes me sick knowing what is burried in that pile. Just too much work to dig them though. Thanks for stopping by enjoy your weekend.

    Ben,
    I hope your doing well.
    How long does it take you to process and tree service load like that into firewood. Those are big pieces.
    The condo is looking good, hope the garden is feeding ya well.

    • @OGAOutdoors
      @OGAOutdoors  Před rokem +1

      I guess the best answer is it depends on how hard I get after it. I usually work through the easier smaller stuff in a few hours. I stack the big logs with the tractor and get to them when I can. I’m guessing it would take about an hour to work up one of the big logs one about 8’ long. Garden has been doing pretty well still getting quite a few veggies.

    • @OGAOutdoors
      @OGAOutdoors  Před rokem

      No I didn’t build it. It’s a Split Fire 2265. They make several models that split in both directions. I have one that fits on the back of my tractor as well. I have a lot of videos using the splitters. Thanks for watching.

  • @caveweta
    @caveweta Před rokem +1

    Could you build yourself a platform to raise that splitter up, looks uncomfortable from here all that bending.

    • @OGAOutdoors
      @OGAOutdoors  Před rokem

      Hooked to the Ranger makes it sit lower. It sits a little when not hooked to the Ranger. I’m always splitting in different places so building something probably wouldn’t work.
