There is never one right way to cut and split wood. It always depends on the circumstances. What you do today may not work tomorrow, but that's part of the fun. I always laugh at the videos about the perfect way to work wood.
Absolutely Phil you’re spot on. I’ve still got those two logs left and I’ll have to finesse them out with the tractor. Might have been easier just to cut them but oh well I got lazy.
“No Mas” “Hands of stone Duran, Thomas “ The Hitman Hearns, Marvelous Marvin, and of course Sugar Ray- great era of Boxing!! Take care🇺🇸
Yeah I remember a lot of that I think. I was still a kid.
That Shagbark hickory will throw stuff right at your face!! Enjoyed it!
For sure I did a video couple years ago and the saw threw a chunk into my nose. Got my attention for sure. Thanks for stopping by sir.
@@OGAOutdoors I bet it did!! You bet
Nice hickory!! Like the way you decided to load Ranger and split next to pile!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
For sure I have become a big fan of splitting next to the stack. Thanks as always catch you on the next one.
Nice little slitter.
It’s the best gets the job done for sure. Thanks for watching and stopping by.
Hickory, I feel ur pain! Keep up the good work Ben. 👍
Thanks for stopping by sir. I’ve got a lot more pain in my future. Good problem to have.
I hear ya on the bark flying!👍👍
Yeah it can be very frustrating.
Another good video, Ben
Thanks for your time making it!
Thanks Chris just something I threw together after dragging out everything I own. Wait I didn’t use the tractor I stand corrected lol. Take care.
Nice work Ben! I have been doing a lot of the same kinda wood gathering! Using the 4wheeler and taking the splitter to the rounds. Take care👊🏻
With the wet weather I’ve been in kinda clean up mode for a couple weeks. I’m about ready to get in the logs soon.
I finally used a chainsaw! It's an old electric one, a friend gifted it to me. I've been scared of it. It threw the chain the first time, but I think I have it adjusted now. Definitely needs sharpening. I found your channel quite a long time ago trying to learn how to split wood. -Amy
Amy good for you be careful with that saw. Happy wood cutting and thanks for stopping by as always.
Ben,nice way to get those big rounds up.working smarter not harder🍻
Yeah I’ve done that before loaded the truck once. Thanks for stopping by.
Even rebuilding engine's one will go well. The next will fight start to finish, and the next one will be a combo of both..
At the end of the day, I just got to adjust..
Adjustments are good keeps us focused. Thanks for stopping by.
Good morning, Ben. Hope it is warmer in Al than it is over here. It looks like you stay busy. It looks like that Husky is hard to crank. I cranked up my Stihl 021 the other day just for an operational self test. My big saws are in the shop locked up on a cable lock system to keep them from growing legs. I am going to crank up my MS 260 Pro when I get a chance and the weather cooperates. I ain’t doing it in the cold.
Good video splitting hickory! We went from 14F a week and a half ago to 66F yesterday, a record! Felt like spring. We have had about 11" rain in January in Oregon. Normally we get an average of 6" of rain in January.
Steve kinda the same scenario here. I guess the weather dumps on you then comes here.
For a second there I thought did he say he was going to do it a certain way then went a differ route. Yes he did,😁😁. Had to keep an ear and eye on you Ben 🤣🤣☑️. Nice move . Sell on man.
Man there’s no telling what I’m going to do especially when hickory is involved. Thanks really appreciate you stopping by.
Ben, I've been using Ethanol free gas oil mix and using Schaeffers two stroke oil and never had a problem starting up any of my saws. It's a love/hate relationship splitting them hickory rounds for me! Great idea movin them big rounds! God bless.
It’s funny if you noticed in the video the saw fired first pull. It’s never done that then I had to go through the normal routine and it started fine. I learned the big round trick a couple years ago lol. I loaded the whole truck with the splitter.
Hickory. Love the wood. HATE how long it takes to dry...
I like it too. I’m not sure how long it takes to dry but the shelf life is kinda short especially in logs.
bugs sure do like it, don't they? I got some fresh cut/fresh split from a tree guy. Stacked it in racks-covered on top in winter-and it took nearly 2 full years to dry.
Mine was Pignut. Stinks like cow crap when it's green, smells sweet and fruity when dry and burned. It also split very nice into smooth splits.
@@pyroman6000 Yeah the bugs do like it. The Pignut does split better than the shagbark.
1st to comment from Western North Carolina
Thanks so much Steve really appreciate the support.
still getting it done
Of course brother. Hope y’all are doing well. We’ve been eating lots of soups lately. I’m out of ideas I’m having a ham sandwich tonight. If you come up with a good soup make us a short video.
Good choice Ben, splitting next to the pile seemed like a lot less effort.
Obie it was saved a little time out of my day. Just trying to figure what to do next cut trees split firewood? Decisions decisions.
That is a neat trick! I wonder if I can do that with my countyLine splitter
I don’t know I just wish I would have figured it out sooner. Give it a try.
You have a regular customer for the hickory, right? Enjoy the journey - cheers
Not exactly. Do you need some I can hook you up lol.
That’s called maximization of effort - using the lift on the splitter to lift them up to the bed of the Ranger. Or, as I call it, using good sense. All it wants - not until the front wheels come off the ground😢
I don’t think it would pull the front tires lol. I think it would just bottom out on the ground first.
New subscriber here ! We are a channel from Pittsburgh PA What area yall from
Thanks really appreciate you stopping by. We are in NW Alabama. Probably a little warmer weather down here.
Why move the big rounds into ranger ? Why did you not just split them there ? Or at least Quarter them .
Jason the splitter was just sitting at an awkward angle attached to the Ranger. The hickory likes to slide so I just put them in the Ranger to tackle later. They are actually laying on the ground next to the stack waiting to be split the next time I have the splitter out. Thanks for stopping by.
