In this video, weâre going to talk about the benefits of rebounding exercise.
NASA has done a lot of research on rebounding exercise. When youâre in space without gravity, you begin to lose your bone tissue and muscle tissue. Rebounding exercise is designed to counter these problems.
Rebounding exercise is essentially jumping on a trampoline.
There are quite a few benefits of rebound exercises. Rebounding:
âą Is convenient
âą Helps mobility
âą Help posture
âą Helps balance
âą Helps fear of falling
âą Reduces risk of osteoporosis
âą Stimulates the thyroid and lymphatic system
In my opinion, the biggest benefit is its ability to stimulate the lymphatic system. Some of the plasma in your blood leaks out of your tissues and goes into the lymphatic system. This means that the lymph in your lymphatic system is made up of plasma along with other substances. The plasma eventually returns to the bloodstream.
Interestingly, your lymphatic system doesnât have a pump as the vascular system does. This means that you have to move your body for your lymph to circulate your body.
Aside from transporting plasma, the lymphatic system has two other significant roles: to support the immune system and to transport fat throughout the body.
When you consume dietary fat, it goes through the lymphatic system. Since fat and water do not mix, your body has to package the fat-using something called chylomicrons-in a way that it can be transported easily through the lymph fluid.
From there, the fat is carried throughout the body to be used for energy and the creation of hormones, cells, and bile.
Many people have found that rebounding exercise has restored their energy. This is the true benefit of rebound exercise.

Thanks for watching. I hope this helped clear up why rebounding exercise is useful and beneficial. Iâll see you in the next video.
I'm 73 and have been rebounding daily for over 15 years .... daily I am energized with no joint pain....I share this find whenever asked....glad you came on board.
I have a bone spur in my foot and it's so painful and nothing is helping. I'm taking tons of painkillers and it's ruining my life. I just ordered a rebounder trampoline because I heard that jumping on it heals any bone spurs or bone and muscle illness over time. I'm so excited to start
Iâm 70 and have osteoarthritis of the knee. Can you please share what rebounder you have? Ive been a hiker for years and am now missing my hikes because Iâm afraid of the pain. Iâd like to try rebounding. Thank you !
Wow amazing! How many minutes per day to start as a beginner?
What brand do you use
Does rope jumping have the same effect?
I am 58 and been rebounding for 2 years. Within 10 months I completely corrected my bladder leakage problem. In the beginning the leakage was very problematic! And months later I noticed NOTHING. Zero leakage. I guess I strengthened my pelvic floor/muscles.
Rebounding is amazing!!
I was terrified of leaking getting worse. This is so reassuring! Thank you!
How long did you rebound daily? How many minutes? Thank you!
This is an Amazing insight!. I had no idea...
Thanks so much for sharing ALL. X
Wow really cant wait to try this
â@@dianehuff2758I heard one minute is enough for 24 hr
What Dr Berg has not mentioned, is that you can achieve major health benefits from rebounding on a small, indoor-size trampoline. No somersaults and backflips necessary!
Thanks. I gonna get one.
Do it on sofa , children does that also
I love my jump sport rebounder. Itâs super quiet so a great exercise if you donât want to disturb others. The other rebounder is a Bellicon they are the two best out there and worth the money for more mature, meaning older, rebounders. Easier on the back.
@@bernjonesmcgee4796 Thanks, I will check them out.
@@hamala7437 Love your thinking!!
I started rebounding a week ago, every day for 30min, one night I couldnât get enough and did 1.5h, and the results are amazing. My energy shot up almost immediately, and it seems to keep increasing so far. My body became noticeably more toned and even my complexion looks brighter and more youthful! Apart from that, I cannot wait to do it every day. Put good energising music on and off you go, freestyle, have fun! I love it, and itâs so much easier than regular exercise. Even though Iâm out of breath many times, I feel invigorated and I donât actually feel physically tired. Post workout Iâm wheezing around the house like a teenager! This is life changing and I am so glad I found it â€
â€
Just ordered mine today ... feeling excited to start something new .
Just make sure you wheeze and breathe with your mouth closed
Awesome so glad for you â€
What kind of rebounder?
Someone gave me a trampoline. I couldn't walk too much due to a sciatica. When I started using it, I did so good. My injured groin didn't hurt at all and my sciatica didn't bother me. I cried. I cried so much because I felt so good about it.
God bless you that is a miracle from God
Dr. Berger I am 61, 6â 1â, 181 pounds, for several years I had a big problem with chronic pain in my feet. I tried many things after seeing the doctor, she suggested I take additional vitamins, another one said that my fat pad on the bottom of my feet was thinning they sent me to get orthotics which didnât work. I went to an acupuncturist that helped a little. What seems to work the best is Iâve been using a rebounder every day for about three weeks now and my feet feel better than they have in a long long time. Just thought this might help some of your other viewers.
Thanks. That does help!
Thank you. That is encouraging! I just got a rebounder and today was my first session! Reading what you wrote is making me even more determine to make rebounding a priority!
Wow thatâs wonderful!
Yes, i am experiencing the same , just 5 days rebounding suddenly feel no pain in back, knee, etcâŠ. as an arthritis rhematoid years i feel positively could live without pain. Hope many will experiencing the same benefits.
Isnt that a miracle??
Just saved a rebounder from the trash because of remembering this video. Your selfless dedication to helping humanity is truly inspiring. THANK YOU Dr Berg!!!
Lucky you
Yes, he is amazing. I'm quite impressed.
I began rebounding on a mini trampoline 6mo ago at the age of 67. I bounce (not jump) on my rebounder 5 days a week for 1 hr ea. session. Jumping high is not what's important, it's the resistance you get by pressing into the mat. The stiffer the mat the more resistance you have. I've never felt better. My energy level is strong and I lost 18 lbs fairly quickly. I have degenerative back disease and rebounding has helped with the pain and to strengthen my back. Some classes you can watch on youtube, the leaders are jumping like crazy high and fast. That is not necessary and isn't even fun for me. If you want more in depth knowledge of rebounding, watch Dave Hall - Cellerciser.
i just started rebounding this year. Down 15 lbs. Now I just need to be consistent. I am 68 and I know this has helped a lot of seniors.
How long do you rebound and how often?
Absolutely helps. I have used one for over 40 years. I am 67. Helps my female organs stay strong. GYN was amazed.
@@TeresaGReid 10 minutes a day will work miracles

When I first got my rebounder, a bounced 10 minutes. Then I decided to do 10 more, I ended up doing 30 minutes and loosening my hips. Then I immediately went outside w my son that had been asking me to play badminton. I didn't miss a beat! At 40, I was beating my 18 year old son like never before. I am a believer in rebounding from experience! It helps fatigue and lubricates your joints!
I have been rebounding on and off for years. It feels wonderful and I can tell the difference when I stop after a couple days. It awakens my whole body and supports bowel passage. This is a wonderful exercise
Yes, this absolutely!!
I saw that today I used my daughters trampoline and I notice after my workout I had to go to the bathroom
Yes! I was constipated for 3 days and did rebounding and I went to the bathroom! TMI: like everything came out! đ
Also Helps with eyesight. As your bouncing focus on an object and change every few minutes to another object. Objects in your peripheral vision only bounce. Slowly correcting eyesight over time.
Another great benefit of rebounding is your calf muscles acting as a pump. Pumping your blood back up.
This form of exercise also works the brain and head & neck

If you donât give up you will gradually build up your endurance. Like everything else in life, practice makes better. I could only do a few minutes to start and now Iâm comfortably up to 20 minutes. I do this now in combination with a workout video and a few miles walking the dog⊠I feel like a warrior. đđ€Ł kind of.
My sister gave me her old rebounder 4 days ago, & I can't believe how much better I personally feel--like more young-at-heart again†but the most amazing thing is that my injured knee hasn't swelled in 3 days, & actually feels stronger, like it's actually healing. Thank you so much for this video đâ€â€ I love this rebounder with the handles.
They do say that rebounding lubricates the joints! I started rebounding with a bungee mini-trampoline over a month ago to help with my edema. It manages it very well through the lymphatic drainage. prior to that I had a spring rebounder which squeaked so badly and the mat was less giving. It was a cheap model and broke after 3 months of use. So I purchased a gym quality rebounder, well worth it! I'm so glad I came across this form of exercise. You don't have to do high jumps either to achieve great results. It does have so many health benefits.
I have a knee that has been swollen since Sept. I'm gonna try it
Make no mistake about rebounding. Kids make it look much easier than it actually is! It is surprisingly intense.
I use to do flips on the trampoline in high school. Now I have a rebounder with a handle on it! Iâm 71 now!
@@Angiehere-1 đ when I bought my rebounder, i opted for no handles. Big mistake! I use the back of a chair to steady myself. I couldnt believe how much of a work out it actually is. This information is awesome though. I knew that it was good for me, now I know why.

Iâve been rebounding since the 70âs and 80âs also. But not continuously. I do other stuff awhile, even become a non-exerciser,but I always go back to go ole rebounding!

I jump on mine 5 minutes a day, and my body composition is changing.
You can keep your toes touching the rebounder and just raise your heels up and down. It still works just great. It's not necessary to jump and completely detach your feet. You'll stay balanced, enjoy it more and be able to rebound longer! â€
Yes that is how I bounced. I either bounce both feet at a time or like I'm jogging
I totally agree, I sort of âmarchâ on my rebounder, hands around the safety bar of course, i.e., one And two And. . . I alternate my feet on the numbers and the âAndsâ are done in the air. I was told it exercises every cell in your body as you move up and down ~ sort of like if you moved a water balloon up & down in the palm of your hand, you can really understand how it can move lymph along too.đ
Thank you for the confirmation that you donât necessarily have to jump. At 77 I donât want to jump too high or jump at all!! So itâs good to know you get benefit by simply bouncing with heels off the rebounder. đđŒđđœđđœ

I bought a good quality home trampoline about a year ago. You dont need to jump, just slightly move, the trampoline does the rest. After 1 minute of slightly up and down you can feel the pelvic part heating up, limph moving in your neck limphnodes. You feel thursty- drink a glass of water. 1 min 2x -3x day, you will feel energy, like the heavy gravity pull has lifted, like a happy kid again. It is the best health investment ever.

As much as I appreciate Dr Berg, the images on the trampoline are very misleading. A rebounder is very small and portable and designed for a different purpose. This is the only full body exercise that will benefit EVERY cell of your being. The doctor responsible for rebuilding the health and strength of returning astronauts researched every form of exercise, and concluded that rebounding is the ultimate best one! Sheâs even written the text book on it, â Sitting kills, Moving Healsâ Dr Joan Vernikos PhD
Agree, a trampoline is totally different. Like a car and a truckâŠthey both have wheels and are vehicles but have different purposes. A rebounder is something you can have indoors in a home or office.

It is also excellent for maintaining the tensegrity of the musculoskeletal system, meaning it helps fascial tissue, as well as ligaments and tendons remain lengthened and elastic throughout life, instead of shortening over time and becoming more rigid and vulnerable to injury. Donât use it you lose it plus this explanation explains how it keeps the whole thing lubricated so that nutrients and wastes can move freely throughout the cells.
You canât actually stretch fascia- only the muscles that attach to it

Thank you Dr Berg for being there for us. I have been so frustrated with regular Drs. they just don't have the knowledge that you have. As simple as the lymphatic system. So happy to find this! I will be 63 in July and Iâm pretty active but just bought a rebounder... WITH an attached bar because I was thinking about balance, lol Thank you Dr Berg for the extra info on WHY this type of exercise is so good for us!
I am using handle on my rebounder from time to time and I think, you can really increase your speed when you lean to it.
I have had my Rebounder brand rebounder for about 20 years. When I have used it regularly I have lost weight and felt great! What I have discovered is that it is much better for me than walking. I have a scoliosis in my lower back and the alternating movement of walking makes it worse. The mini trampoline movements that I do actually strengthen the muscles that keep my back from "going out" and forcing me into inactivity. At one time I lost around 80 lbs with this. I also learned that if I overdo it (as in 45 minutes a day with varying intensity) I don't lose weight because I'm hungry all the time and eat more. I've found that 15 minutes am and 15 minutes pm and increasing my veggie/fat intake works best for me.
Hi, I just recently got interested in rebounding. I'm trying to lose about 50 pounds and 60 yrs old. Could I ask you who is the maker of your rebounder? I was thinking about getting a bellicon ..? I appreciate your comments and any advice. Thanks.
@@jeannespratt1235 Hi Jeanne! My Rebounder is a "Rebounder". I've been pretty happy with it and it has held up well. I started out with a no-name thrift store purchase and it fell apart in no time. But I enjoyed it enough that I spent several hundred on this one 15 - 20 years ago. It was worth it! I don't know anything about the brands that others have mentioned here or how they compare with mine. I have tried several others over the years and felt that they were too stiff to give me the exercising-every-cell-through-gravity which I feel is important.
I hope this helps! I hope you find a good one. It can make all the difference.
What is your stomach acid like?
@@jonathanhadley2555 If I'm on plan (keto/low carb/higher veggie etc.) no problems. If I'm eating "normal" I have acid reflux. I do think the rebounder helps the acid reflux regardless. But if I'm not eating right I am usually not exercising right either.
@@l.l.2463 Do you take anything for your stomach so that your food is properly broken down?
Just wanted to say what I realize I have overlooked for some time since finding your videos. THANK YOU!!! I find your videos to be insightful and very beneficial and greatly appreciate all you offer to those who are very interested in living better!
I love my mini trampoline, thanks for the info you provided for us đ.
Hi Sue!! Yes, bouncing really IS the best way to get the cardio in! :)
I would add there are so many different ways in which you can use a rebounder... If you want to focus on bone density and lymphatic drainage, then check out the "health bounce" technique which looks like "you're almost doing nothing" but is so incredibly effective! Spring rebounders work best for this, the bounce is quick and short... My bone density scans have changed dramatically since I started practicing the health bounce, it is unbelievable, no wonder NASA declared it the best form of exercise to recover bone mass... Seriously my Dr was shocked with the results of my latest scan, he thought it had to be a mistake... And for lymphatic circulation and detoxification, the gentle health bounce too is the most effective way to use it... I have lymphedema in my left foot/ankle and the swelling disappears after 10 minutes of gentle rebounding. I really notice it when I am travelling and don't have my rebounder, the swelling comes back... If you want to use a rebounder for cardio or toning, then bungee rebounders are more fun and you can get as intense as you want to get. I have a spring rebounder and a bungee one (Bellicon) and I alternate both. If I had to chose one, I'd say a spring one to practice the "health bounce" every day would be my first choice. Really anyone can do it and just because it is not "intense" it does not mean it's not incredibly efficient. Try it!
Dr. FRANK SUAREZ. TAMBIEN RECOMIENDA ESTE EJERCICIO AL 100% !!!!!
Thanks! My son (who is a coach) has been trying to get me into rebounding exercise.
You will love it!! Enjoyđđ
I'll be 80 in July and have been rebounding since 2014 after finding out how I benefited from a mini trampoline while in PT after an inner ear virus left me with dizziness and balance issues...
It's about time I left a comment ... Love love love this guy!!! Dr. Berg I think you are the most gracious and humble guy considering you know everything lol. I swear by your knowledge and teachings. And follow your guidelines on IF, which I learned from you in the first place, and I am amazed at the results. In my 50's and now can finally listen to someone who makes sense. Everybody watching ... this is the doctor to go to!!!!!! I'm going to start rebounding now lol ... I was already "jiggling" my body from a natural urge to do so, it would help me wake up in the morning, and as well relax stiff shoulders, and get my organs stimulated etc!
Another benefit Dr Berg didn't mention
was if you have a small indoor one &
or an outdoor one it will SAVE your
FURNITURE, HOUSE & YOUR NERVOUS
SYSTEM because you can have your
energy filled kids use it too ESPECIALLY
when it's raining outside or bad weather.
It's a LIFESAVER & also really helped my
kids build strong healthy cores & immune
systems too. đđȘđââïžđ
Iâm 60 and I have been rebounding everyday for 45 minutes since I was 50. I love it, itâs easy, fun and I get 3 miles of jogging in.
Do you lift your knees high when running on trampoline ?
@@aaa7189 sometimes, there are all kinds of videos on CZcams to follow.
OH MY GOODNESS, you just made my soul happy!!! đ€ I had not heard of the rebound exercise, I just heard of it from your varicose veins video. I am 47 y/o and have wanted a trampoline since I was little being a gymnast and having seen the movie BIG with Tom Hanks! I recently (FINALLY) came up with a way to have a full-sized inside my house!!! đđœđđœđđœ Iâll have a harness with bungee cords from the ceiling as a precaution for over rotation.
Thank you for this very helpful video, Dr. Berg. I love rebounding on my mini trampoline and appreciate knowing the science behind why it feels so good! Thank you also for illuminating the importance of the often maligned LDLs and cholesterol.
Is there any good you tube videos you can recommend to do?
My eye pressure was around 35 mm HG in each eye, putting me at risk of glaucoma. I started rebounding 15 minutes every day, and within two months my pressure had fallen to 17 in each eye. At my exam, my optometrist asked me if I had smoked marijuana prior to the exam (which can reduce the pressure). I had not, and told him that I had been rebounding. He just smiled, and laughed off any suggestion that the rebounding coulld have been responsible (although he could not explain the drop in pressure).
When they canât understand it they laugh. God forbid doing any research.
My dr laughed at me when I said âat least my triglycerides are greatâ. Years later he led our annual âyour cholesterol is highâ conversation with the comment that the triglycerides are the important marker. I think I will try rebounding. And get my husband to try too.

Whatâs the connection with eye pressure?
I have the Cellerciser and it works, I am 72 and have had mine for at least 10 years.
Your videos are so interesting! I come in wanting to know about one thing and end up learning SO MUCH MORE. Eye opening information!
Everytime Dr. Berg speaks amazed me! Thank you!
I'm 67 living in Germany. Recently, I bought a medical, mini trampoline. I bounce rather than jump to warm up, then I continue by target different parts of the body after which I do a body Lymph system pat down. I do this in the morning & evening & at any time during the day when I'm at home & not moving around that much. Afterwards, my whole body tingles & feels amazing. If I lack energy or focus, ten minutes rebounding perks me up (but also helps me wind down at night oddly enough). There are lots of guided routines to assist & help beginners avoid injuries. Keith McFarlane & David Hall are two really good sources.
i love it when Dr Berg makes longer videos and touching on various topics thoroughly.
Dr. Berg, I have the Bellicon Rebounder, 49 inch and is the perfect size for my home. Not necessary to to flips and just doing what they call a Health Bounce is great for Lymphatic System, which means your feet never leave the mat. I also do HIIT with the Bellicon.
That brand is stupidly expensive in Australia
I have Needak, which is wonderful! I'm doing a lively healthbounce first thing in the morning for 7 min. (I worked up to that.) Planning to add another session later in the day to keep the benefits going! I used to do 20 min at a time with extensive and high movement exercises. (37 years ago. Yikes!) Don't know if I'll get there again, but the benefits I am receiving currently are just great! I highly recommend rebound exercise!
I've been using a Cellerciser for about ten years. I'm 67 years old. I chose the Cellerciser over the Belicon because it doesn't cone. The mat is flatter at the bottom of the bounce, which is important for me because I have bad feet. I'd tried other rebounders before, but they always made my feet and ankles hurt. I read some reviewers who said that the Cellerciser was harder and hurt their back. It always makes my back feel better. I work out hard, but I don't put stress on my back by jumping high. It's perfect for doing intervals. I simulate sprinting, going as hard as I can for twenty seconds, then jog for forty and repeat. A lot of times, though, I just do what I call pulsing--lightly bouncing or dancing without my feet leaving the mat. It's refreshing, and it's nice to get your pulse up a little without sweating. Sometimes I watch the idiot box while moving on the rebounder. I had springs break on every other rebounder I owned (four over the years). The Celliciser came with four extra springs. They're still sitting in a drawer all these years later. My wife uses the rebounder daily as well. Great product. Worth every cent I paid and more.
I bought a Cellerciser as well because my old trampoline made my feet and ankles hurt. It feels so good to just freestyle bounce that it becomes addicting.
As usual, you are amazing at explaining anything in how the body works. With more understanding, it becomes easier for us to take care of our bodies ourselves. Many people thought that rebounding was just a fun exercise for the youth, but now will understand its benefits for older people too and especially for those who tend to have lymphedema.
Thank you so much Dr. Berg for all that you do for people. You are the ultimate best teacher at all levels, for Anyone. Much love, gratitude, and blessings to you. Namaste.
Just bought a new JumpSport mini trampoline. I get a great and intense workout everyday.
Amazing as always â€đ. Thanks so much for passing on this valuable information in such a easy way. Keep on the great news and greetings from đȘđž
Dr. Berg please know youâre fighting the good fight, and are so appreciated for what and how you bring knowledge into our lives. Angel on earth. Love ya!
Thank you very much for your message. Glad to help you all. Take care.
Another David Hall Cellerciser user... after using the cheap one for too long... I found the real deal in the Cellerciser. Game Changer. I feel very blessed to have learned about rebounding by Barbara O'Neill, Homepathic Practitioner (CZcams her) when my journey of being a non smoker started. I've been quit for over 2 years and rebound on the days I'm not at Orange Theory Fitness. I am 58 and at my goal weight now utilizing IF/Dirty Keto. I credit David Hall's patented spring design that NASA uses with a lot of my success to better health. So happy to see Dr Berg do a video on the benefits. I would have happily sent him free images to use that are better representations of a rebounder than the big trampolines! Well done content thought, as usual.
I'm so glad you explained this, going to listen again, so amazing and important. God Bless You for your heart to help others, Dr. Berg. Hope ya'll had a great Thanksgiving! đ
One of the best videos i ever watched ! Thank you . Now everything is clear to me .đđŒ

Wow thatâs a beautiful thing that helps your balance!
How fascinating, I used to use one at home when I lost weight many years ago, which I never gained :) I am going to invest in a rebounder again đ
