    I've made several new years resolutions over the years, and kept 2: I never let a compliment go unsaid (your videos rock) and I never walk by a person crying without stopping to see if there's anything I can do to help. I think it's because both of those resonate more with my core values than "losing 20 lbs". But at the same time, I also want to be healthy. I look forward to the app!

    Psyched for your app coming out!! Heading into 2024 with a different mindset. No dieting, no weight loss goals. Just focusing on overall health, trying to get off my pain meds, lowering and controlling my inflammation. And making my bed daily. Lol.

      I hear you! Several years ago I was taking the tramadol 300 because of cervical spine derivative disc disease. It was so hard to get off of but I did it. Now I am trying different methods to control inflammation. Cortisol shots in my disc area by a pain management, doctor periodically really do help.
      As a person who suffers from chronic illness myself, I can understand the struggle when you are dealing with pain. There are a group of people called the Spoonies. It started with a girl with chronic illness who explained at a dinner table with spoons that she only had a limited amount of energy every day and the spoons were symbolic of the energy.
      Her friends didn't really understand her struggle.

    Stepped on the scale this morning and noticed that I lost 6lbs.
    My mind immediately slipped into "omg I have to watch what I eat so I can lose more"
    I sat down and I started doing as I usually do and started to plan the diet.
    Then I was like "wait a minute. I lost that weight without the diet.. what am I doing?! This is why I have an eating disorder... now who was that lady who makes those shorts against diet culture..."
    And so here I am

    You definitely do not sound like an idiot that has no friends lol. I really resonated with a lot of what you said. I also find our goals to be very similar. I am very independent and fairly introverted. I struggle getting out of the house because I enjoy my own company so much. Of course, like you, once I am out I always enjoy myself. One thing I have planned to do this year is to go to the pottery place every quarter of the year with the end goal being to gift my mom a set of mugs that I've painted for her next Christmas. I plan to invite a friend with me each time I go.
    I also have gotten a yearly membership to a few local museums and the arboretum as a means to get out of the house more. Even though those are fairly solo activities I can always invite someone along if they express interest.
    Another goal I have is continuing to view exercise as a privilege and continuing to take advantage of and be grateful for that privilege as well as continuing to stay sober. I've been sober for more than a year now and while it isn't difficult, it can be a bit complex socializing when you realize how much people use alcohol as a means to socialize.
    I also have a goal of focusing on my mobility this year by incorporating one mobility session into my training regime biweekly, eventually increasing the frequency until it has become part of my routine.
    I love paint by numbers but some of them are way too tedious for me. The one you've chosen is very cute.

      Oh man I love painting. I love doing the ceramics and going to painting classes. And I do resonate with the alcohol issue because a lot of these painting classes people drink wine 🍷 However, they have always been pretty cool when I bring my own beverage. Thankfully, drinking is not necessarily the focus.

You have taught me so much and intuitive eating has changed my life, but every time the diet culture secretly tries to lure me back in, I come back to your videos and am reminded of how to live free.     Healthy eating is not restricting its broadening the kind of food you eat about having variety . It leaves you feeling satisfied, not too hungry but not regretful.
    Food creates positive memories not memories you regret and wish you never had.
    So what makes food unhealthy is not that slice of pizza you ate or that slice of birthday cake, it’s the fact you had too much and the fact that you filled up on the wrong kind of foods that you didn’t get to eat unhealthy. What makes food unhealthy is if it makes up more than 50% of your calories. If most your calories are empty calories than it’s the nutrient defiencies that make you unhealthy, not necessarily the calories the sugar salt and fat that your body gets from all good anyways. Saturated fat isn’t bad it’s just if your diet is made up of saturated fat, your missing out on other good fats that’s how you should see food, as something to add not to take away.
    But we are not talking calories we are talking nutritional value

    You verbal explanation of why that sandwich wasn’t goals sounds exactly like a conversation that me and my girls frequently have when we are eating a meal.
    It’s a good bit x, y and z just didn’t make it the best it could be.

    i too am trying to get out of my comfort zone and just do new things. this year i want to try chocolate making and curling (the sport)😂 my why for the sociEATy is to be able to live more spontaneously so that's my bigger goal
    edit: yes, the journalling feature for the app will be great. i keep my own journal while going through the lessons but something right there in the app will be a wonderful addition

    I love your personality and your energy! You are so very helpful! However, I have a pretty bad eating disorder that may need counseling for.
    ***Anyways, would you be willing to make a “What I eat in a day”, including your food choices, mindset surrounding it, portions sizes, how you feel eating it, and your actual thoughts that you personally go thru your mind while eating? I need to learn how to mimick the mindset part.

      Thank you so much! Yes, my first suggestion would be to seek a professional that can help you with an active eating disorder. I do have some What I eat in a day's on here, and I also do some on IG where I do explain my thoughts/ feelings about what I eat. I most likely will do more in the future as well.     as someone who struggled with an eating disorder and who still struggles very much with body image, i would never wish eating problems on someone else. i understand how people now as a result come to things like no foods are bad and such, but i feel i only agree with that to some extent because i know there really are some foods you should eat rarely, and not everyday just because you feel like it and that's okay. that's my seeing on all this, i do think some things about diet culture are messed up, but also people have gone a bit far so i don't agree entirely.

      Intuitive eating concept includes eating what makes you feel your best. Many of the treats and things that Colleen has eaten in her short videos are not something that I can consume without feeling pretty awful.
      You don't have to eat oatmeal cream pies to be an intuitive eater. You eat in a healthy and balanced way and you learn not to fear food, but instead make decisions about what you eat based on how it makes you feel.

    This year I really wanted my New Year’s resolution to shift from losing weight to healing my relationship with food. Food has always had a tight hold on my life, and I want to break free from that. I really feel like your videos will play a huge part in that. They always give me so much inspiration, so I’m very excited for the app!! 😊
    My other resolution is to read more this year! I also get bored of reading sometimes, but audiobooks have been a big help for me! I love to listen while crocheting 😁

    This app may be really beneficial to a lot of people.
