Win: Eating breakfast Thanksgiving morning reduced a lot of anxiety.
Learning: I went to an event that had several desserts. I ate a full serving of each. And then, I got a stomach ache. Weeks later, I realized I wasn't eating that much because I enjoyed it or was hungry, but because I was trying to find something enjoyable to eat, but didn't want to waste. Next time, I could take a sample of the items and go back for more of the one I actually enjoy.
This reflection!!! 😍😍👏👏👏
@@ColleenChristensen ❤
So tonight, I went to another event. I was looking forward to dessert most. I scanned and sampled some options. What I got wasn't great. I stopped myself and verbalized that I didn't like it much and left most of what I didn't enjoy on my plate. It was a good choice since there was cake available after.
Love this video. I am so ready to eat adequately this holiday season (not days of restrict in the am, binge at the holiday meal in the pm and feel sick). We always come home with left overs so no need to stuff myself! The restrict to save calories and entitlement trap has been my thing for decades. Been in your no food rules course for a few weeks and it is helping ALOT!! Thank you ❤
Get ready for a holiday season that FEELS good! And get SO excited for the app! It’ll be a game changer! Since you’re a current member you’ll be switched over earlier than Jan 1 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Hey Colleen, you might not see this but today is my sixteenth birthday. I spent most of October in pediatric, because my eating disorder had gotten the best of me. And a lot of time in there I spent watching your videos. I want you to know how much you and your mission means to me and so many people. If I hadn't changed my behaviors then, I'd probably be spending this day in a rehab facility. Really lucked out there. Its been hard adjusting. Still is and may always will be. But for the most, you've truly inspired me to look at nutrition in a better light. Taking one step after another. Thank you for what you do ❤
Oh my goodness !! I'm so excited for your app launch in January !! I was always thinking about how nice it would be to have an app on Intuitive Eating (etc.) from you and I guess that wish is coming true ^ - ^ I'm super grateful for this video because this week has been finals week and I've been feeling stressed out and haven't had the time to necessarily eat as much nutrient dense foods as I usually do. I started feeling really guilty about it and watching this video definitely helped me out a lot, especially as I am studying for my finals. I love putting your videos/podcast on as background noise while I study because it also helps bring me a sense of comfort when I'm trying to cram information in and battling my inner thoughts. Thank you so much Colleen, much love !
Ohmigosh you’re going to love it!!!! Best of luck with finals- you got this!!!
The app sounds great! I'm glad I found your CZcams Shorts, I loved them so much I subscribed to your channel & have watched so many of your videos. Such a great change from diet culture & guilt over eating "bad" foods. I look forward to all your videos!
So so glad to hear that!!! 🥰🥰🥰
You’ve helped me so much! I’m so excited to give myself permission to eat whatever feels/sounds good to me in the moment this next week.
You got this!❤
I am so excited about the app! Congratulations! I'm a planner for sure. Thank you for talking about entitlement -- excellent reminder.😊
I love your videos so much, they're perfect for when I need something slow to watch for my anxiety. Normally I watch shorts, which unfortunately worsens my anxiety.
I definitely enjoy these videos. It's nice to see the process behind the scenes.
Aaah so glad! I love just chit chatting with you all!
I am looking forward to begin eating intuitively. I’m so tired of not knowing what my body needs and food anxiety 😳😬😵💫. I’m afraid of fat, carbs, cholesterol, sodium etc . Diet culture has caused a lot of damage to a lot of people and their health!
Aaaah yes! You’re in the right place 😉
Thank you so much for all your content ❤
You’re so welcome thank you for being a part of this community!! ✨✨
How do you remember to eat when you lose hunger queues when your busy?
Super great question! It’s called “practical hunger” and initially eating throughout the day. It’s not always “sexy” but sometimes we just gotta feed our bodies!!! It’s not always based off of physical hunger cues ❤️❤️ we have a whole lesson on this in the app coming 🥰🥰😍😍
I think maybe the simple maybe overly simple thing to do is just set a timer. Then eat something. I've added chobani greek yogurt cups to my diet with the safe and fair granola sprinkled on top. I have that twice a day and also as a quick meal with lunch meat and cheese. It's been a game changer for me. I realized when I went to go get a cold brew that I could actually sit on the stool and turn forward like everybody else. I couldn't fit before. I'm still in shock.😮 My gut is not bloated and I have lost 10 lb in the last month and a half. Not going to say this is going to happen for everybody but just these small changes by adding protein and having carbs fat and protein with every meal and snack really made a difference for me. Making sure that I eat even if I have to set an alarm.
I’ve gone as long as 24 hours accidentally sometimes …. And then there was that infamous job (when the whole job and tight deadline was dumped on me after the other translator was reassigned) when I was finally making up the invoice on a Thursday just before noon and felt something really odd in my stomach. It finally dawned on me that I hadn’t actually eaten anything since early Tuesday evening….I was living on Vitamin C and water! When I took a few hours to sleep, food was simply not on my mind.
My appetite often goes down to zero when under stress. I have some safe foods (also non-allergenic, I have several food allergies and intolerances) that I can digest under such circumstances, such as some sesame rice crackers (an odd choice, but rice is one of my safe foods but not cooked when under stress) or a spoonful of peanut butter (also a safe food, more so than whole peanuts). Having vegan-friendly bottled protein drinks available is helpful because even stirring up some powder in a glass of water is more than I can manage sometimes. Know thyself and stock up accordingly.
The real challenge is to avoid eating the whole kitchen when the deadline is met and the stress is lifted and suddenly everything sounds good. I have to remind myself that all the food will be there tomorrow and I need sleep more than overloading my GI tract. I eat, but try not to overdo it just then.
I don’t take such tight deadlines now, but just get busy. I can usually feel that I’m hungry but it goes away pretty fast until my body says stop what you’re doing and feed me now! But “intermittent fasting” is really my natural pattern, I eat when I’m hungry but usually that is not soon after waking up. I eventually get what I need to eat, so it really isn’t bad.
I have never been skinny either. But if I avoid my food allergens and pay attention to how much and what I really want to eat, my weight stays where it is supposed to be with no effort.
I still find it hard to not binge on weekends or holidays but you have been so important in this journey for me! Thank you so much for everything you share.
Glad to be on this journey with you! Keep fighting the good fight! You're amazing!❤
Thank you for always answering
Wow thanks you really help us so much😊
Xoxoxoxox! 🥰🥰
You amaze me!! I have learned so much already and it’s truly changing my whole life of dieting. I have freedom! I was making chocolate chip cookies for my hubby s work today and tasted the dough…yummy…but put a chocolate chip in my mouth and Really tasted it and then I spit it out!! I don’t prefer the bitter in semi sweet. Lol. Why waste my taste buds. Usually I couldn’t have them in the house, except very briefly. Thank you SO MUCH for caring so much!Love your videos ❤
Brb crying! 😭😭😭 so happy for you!
im so earlyy! i love your videos so much
Xoxoxo!!! 🥰🥰
I definitely needed this. We have 2 birthdays, Christmas eve, Christmas day and New Years Eve that we celebrate all in December and I tend to worry about all the sugar and things I know I'm going to be eating.
I’ve been WAITINGGG for this!!! This will change the game for intuitive eating I cannot wait!!! Is there a date that we can download the app if we join?
😍😍😍 it’ll be ready January first but keep watching my videos I’ll give access early if it’s ready 🙃🙃🙃
My trick this year is to eat and exercise normally throughout December and then just enjoy the few days of Christmas. Last year i treated December as an all you can eat buffet basically and it did not feel good!
It's great that you have been able to reflect and determine what will feel best to you this season!🙌
@@ColleenChristensen 100%. Nothing wrong with indulging, but indulging all the time doesn’t feel good for my body, so I’m trying to be mindful of that while still enjoying the treats I love
I like that this was 15min, can’t do long videos no time 😂😂 thank you 😉
🥰🥰
I can't wait for the app. That sounds a fantastic
The team and I are soooo excited too! It's going to be great! Can't wait to hear what you think!
@@ColleenChristensen I took your 9-week course about 6 months or more ago and I was part of the society for a while. I was thinking man wouldn't an app be awesome?
Great minds think alike girlfriend!
Excited about the app if it is free.
You can hop in for free and take the quiz to get a feel for it and see what it includes!!! 🥳
Any tips on how to approach Christmas Eve? I don't need much food when I'm hungry but it seems depriving to only eat a fish and a single slice of cake during the holidays😅
I would take the same approach I talk about in this video! Make sure you are nourishing yourself consistently no matter the day! Biology will always win, so make sure you are giving yourself what you need in addition to enjoying the yummy Christmas treats when you want, and in a way that feels good.
Please do showcase your app! I've been looking for a non-diet way to track what I eat. My struggle has been learning to listen to my body and how to do the things my body needs. I know I need more protein and omega 3 to feel more satieted, but the apps I found keep on trying to focus on calories.
I will let everyone know when the app is live! We won't have a food tracker, but there are plenty of yummy recipes in the SociEATy that can help you meal plan!
I love your content and I'm saying this in case you happen to see my comment so you can maybe give it a thought... Just speaking from perception and I hope I don't get attacked, but not even when i was severely underweight in the hospital due to an ed did i ever look as thin as you do, nor have i later after healing my relationship with food, broken the binge-restrict cycle (to which your content definitely helped- thank you). i'm still pretty thin, though I'm definitely eating well.
She's clearly not recovered, and only getting worse. If you look at her earlier videos she looks 'healthier'. This woman is gaslighting her entire audience.
Yep ok I got that me and a whole pkg of golden oreos and milk got it I was probably rebelling and definitely paid for it the next day uggh.
Take each eating experience as an experiment in what feels good and what doesn't. If something doesn't feel good to you, you can get a better idea how to enjoy a food you like in a way that makes you feel good for next time. It takes a little tweaking, but you'll get there! There is no place for shame or guilt here!❤
So glad to see your channel that has humour and common sense, encouraging ppl (particularly women) to listen to their intuition again. It's so upsetting we can't just enjoy our lives. Another lady in her thirties..a recovering beauty and fashion junky said how much she loved getting into her garden and other things instead of obsessing over shopping and how to "anti age". It hit home how it all just wastes our time and enjoyment of life. And we don't even notice it. 😥
Glad to have you here! I agree! Life is too short to not enjoy it!❤
You always say if u wait to long to eat u most likely will over eat but me, (I’m still struggling but trying to recover) when I would starve until 7pm I would be full after half my meal -about 300 cals and idk why ?
Did you feel ravenous the next morning?
@@princessbabibear4794 no just normal
@@princessbabibear4794 but that’s just me ig
It could be that your hunger and fullness cues are a little out of whack. Here's a blog post that explains how to help get them back : colleenchristensennutrition.com/how-to-get-hunger-cues/

This may not work so well if you live with a hungry human horde - but if you are the only human in the house, practically anything can be frozen in portions for later, giving you complete freedom to eat what you want when you want.
Pastries and donuts and cookies and pie and cake etc. especially freeze well, but I’ll freeze practically anything but fresh apples and pears…. I even freeze canned beans and such in portions that I can just grab and toss in the little toaster/convection oven or the microwave with some frozen veg for a meal. I even cut up baked potatoes and sweet potatoes into my preferred portion sizes. (I can always go back for another portion if needed.) When I get commercial veggie sausages that are too much for me individually, I just cut them in half before freezing.
Anyway, no problem trying to eat up all the goodies before “January”. Just freeze what you might not get through quickly and then you can enjoy them whenever. So you can bake to your heart’s content during the holidays without fear. Think of yourself as stocking up acorns for winter as a squirrel would if squirrels had freezers and electricity in their nests.
I also do this because my foods tend to be pricey. Vegans are getting pretty gouged by jacked up prices. So I split things in half or so that others might be able to afford to eat all at once. When I get really good vegan cheesecake (Daiya is good), I split that up into small pieces that I figure will be enough since it’s so rich. I split up some dessert hummus the same way. I get 8 servings out of a pint of vegan ice cream, using freezer containers intended for the homemade baby food crowd. Surprisingly, 1/4 cup (2 fluid ounces) is actually quite a bit of ice cream especially if you’re adding frozen or fresh fruit or granola etc. to it. And again, you can always eat another one if you want more. Sometimes you can just break things up in the package and freeze, as I did when I would get humongous cookies (really enough for a meal for me). Donuts and such can be broken apart if needed.
Love this!! Thanks for all the great tips!
god i wish i could just eat intuitively. yesterday i ate until i was sick at a holiday party and i felt so disgusting but couldn’t stop myself because i had been restricting for so long. people make it look so easy i’m convinces i’ll never have a normal relationship with food :(
I completely understand where you are coming from, but please try not to be so hard on yourself. Learning to eat intuitively is a process. Take it a day at a time, and sometimes even a meal at a time. You'll get there. It just takes practice. Here's a blog post on IE that will help! colleenchristensennutrition.com/what-is-intuitive-eating/ You got this!
I normally am a plan ahead gal.
sometimes having a plan really helps!
Jesus is king and he died on the cross and rose again and is alive today. Jesus loves you! He is love! And he wants a real and authentic relationship with you. Turn from any sinful and evil ways. And give your life to Jesus!
