    It's strange that they modeled Air Force One without putting in the defensive measures that it carries. It should have been aware of a missile launch and deployed chaff and flares as well it is supposed to have electronic counter measures. I understand that a lot of what it carries is not going to be available to research and model, however, they should at least use some counter measures it's known to have.

      It would not detect a missile until it went pitbull. TWS lock does not show up on RWR. F-22 directs the missile with TWS until the F-22 turns away from radar azimuth. If the firing plane turns out of the field of the radar, the missile will turn on its radar and then show up on RWR. And an SU-57 has long range heat missiles that would never be detected.

    Actually, a more plausible scenario end would have been if instead of coming apart in mid-air, Airforce One had crash landed in the desert and the President survived. Then instead of dying in the ocean Cap would have punched out over land and within one mile of the Presidents crash site. Then by sheer coincidence Cap and the President meet up and have an epic fist fight! That way as Cap punches the President a few times in the face he can say "that was for John Lennon!" Or if still in character he could say "that was for Vladimir Lenin!" Either way a great ending.

    We need to talk about the Felon: it's flight model is _criminal_ 🤓
    The RCS model is also probably way off too. Even just the IRST ball would be enough to ruin it's stealthiness from certain aspects, and those unblended nacelles are a no-no. Internal corners are *bad* hence why the F-117 looks the way it does and the B-2, B-21, RQ-170, etc. look like lumpy pancakes from some angles. Notice at how carefully the IRST system is positioned and blended into the F-35s skin; the Felon in its current form would have RCS "spikes" at certain angles that'd defeat the whole point of stealth.
    It'll be interesting to see if they make the tracker ball retractable or go to a multi-sensor all-around system like the Lightning. The Felon will no doubt be very capable once they develop it fully but at the moment it's nowhere near as refined as the Raptor. Maybe the Russians have decided on a compromise and all-aspect stealthiness doesn't matter to them tactically? 🤔

    • @codymcelroy5418
      @codymcelroy5418 Před 2 lety

      My understanding of Russian and Chinese stealth strategy is to make their aircraft's less visible "stealth" on a head on approach, but fairly normal from all other angles. They just don't have the industrial materials and techniques to do something like an f-22/f-35 yet. Though China is probably closest due to its espionage.

    • @SleinJinn
      @SleinJinn Před 2 lety +1

      Couldn't have said it better myself. Giving the Su-57 and F-22 the same RCS is completely unrealistic. The Felon is basically a semi-stealth fighter, not a true stealth. Many compromises were made in its development, like the leading edge control surfaces that make it look cool in air shows at the expense of greatly increasing its RCS, because Russian aviation seems to think dogfighting is still a thing.

      That was kind of what I was thinking. (Take these numbers with a grain of salt)... But the SR-71 crews wore spacesuits to fly that high. The SR's top (known) altitude was 85000 feet.
      And again, take these numbers with a grain of salt. The rated max altitude for a Patriot missile was 79,500ft. (Call it 80,000ft). I mean - no shit he didn't hit by the missles. You're 5,000ft above its rated max. Speed of sound (approx) at 80,000 ft is around 650mph. Top speed of a SU57 is around 1325mph. So he's flying at (roughly) mach 2. Patriot missiles had no chance.
      Should've put in a ceiling of 66,000 ft, which is the rated max for a SU57. Likely would've been smashed by a Patriot missile - or 5.

    I haven't watched the video to the end so I don't know if that was mentioned, but the SU-57 having the same RCS as even the F-35 is very optimistic. Allegedly India left the joint development project of the SU-57 over concerns with the stealth capability. I feel like the RCS had to be much worse than that of the F-35 if India thought it made more sense to start from scratch with their own 5th gen fighter project. Makes sense too, it's Russias first stealth-jet and Russia has much less resources for R&D than the US.

      @imjashingyou3461 Před 2 lety

      @mandellorian well the factors that make the RCS distinctly worse were deliberate compromises Russia made. In the IRST on the nose, (which really sabotaged the RCS) and stinger on the tail, plus other sensors and shapings. And that's not materials that have a much bigger effect on RCS when related singal characteristics. Shapeing affects all signal characteristics such as frequency mostly but not completely equally when talking about features of this size which won't be smaller then the wavelengths physical size (again in most cases).
      Russia knew these things but yet made the design choice to put the IRST on there.
      Which is very telling about Russia confidence in their ability to produce a fighter with a low enough RCS and good enough Radar vs Western 5th Gen to get a first detect and win that fight with Radar missiles.

    Random thought, that might make for a testing video?
    Considering missiles, the speed of the missile determines what lead it needs to have to intercept a target. The radar or seeker on a missile is limited to a field of vision. (it can't see 360º).
    So logically, there should be a practical limit for how fast a target can be, before the lead the missile needs to have, is so large that it looses track of the target.
    I guess the question would be... What is the maximum targets speed, that a missile can hit? (basically, if the target travels faster, depending on angle of intercept, it should be able to go so fast that the missile simply looses sigh of it.)
    I did have the SR71 video in mind here, because it simply outruns the missiles. For any missile to have a chance of hitting it, it would have to be fired from the front. (like the viggens did it,,well not actually DID it, but a simulated attack.) But any missiles coming at it from the sides, would have to have a huge lead, and simply loose track because they are flying in the same direction as the SR71, but in front of it.
    So it would be interesting to explore that from the missiles point of view, so to speak. What would the maximum target speed be for a given missile?

  • @superflyguy4488
    @superflyguy4488 Před 2 lety +1

    OK, its probably that in any current or future conflict, gen 4.5 and gen 5 jets would work together. Gen 5 jets for maybe target aquasition and gen 4.5 further out as the weapon launch platform, obviously digital battlefield and all that the missiles being guided by the undetected stealthily jets. I wonder if this would work, if its modeled accurately.
