    So just to be clear correct me if I’m wrong. To make a conditioner you combine your liquid ingredients in a separate bowl from your waxy and preservatives ingredients and get your liquids hot enough to melt your waxy oil combo and just whip the combination together going back and forward with heat until you get a thickening consistency and let it sit overnight for better results ?

    Curious whether in general water phase could be heated to 100 then add lipid/waxy emulsifier instead of heating both phases to approximate same temperature with different formulations and not necessarily just for a conditioner?

    When you add the pH changing agent does it change the formula? For example, if you already have a formula will it throw off your formula when you add it?

    • @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
      @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401  Před 5 lety

      Hi Tone, since conditioners need this low pH to achieve functionality, please select ingredients that will suit the lower pH. Then it won't cause a problem to adjust the pH later. Hope this helps, happy formulating!

    How could this be used as a leave in?

    • @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
      @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401  Před 2 lety

      It needs to be a different formula - this is too heavy to leave in. Please search our youtube channel for other ideas. How bout soy wax?

    • @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
      @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401  Před 6 lety +3

      Again, it is not high HLB, so it will only cling to the hair and make it feel heavy and lank. Make sure you use very high HLB waxy emulsifiers to create the easy wash out, smooth and conditioned benefits of these products, not plant waxes. Happy formulating!

    Can I use bees wax?

    • @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
      @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401  Před 6 lety +2

      Definitely NOT!!! Beeswax has a low HLB which means it has a higher affinity for oil and would cling to your hair rather than wash out easily. It is important in a conditioner that you use very high HLB materials so they wash out easily to leave the hair feeling silky, not claggy. Happy formulating :)
