    hi belinda please tell me that if i can use Schulke Mikrocount or other micro kit for microbial challenge tests. please could you take a topic on stability studies and preservative efficacy test in future or how can i learn it from IPCS thanks

      @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401  Před 5 lety

      Hi Jabby, you should not perform your own challenge tests - this is one test you definitely need to send to a specialised micro testing lab because of the method and organisms they are using, you don't want to risk a contamination issue in your factory! But we do teach how to conduct your own microbial quality checks for each batch and conduct your own stability tests and interpret results, please email us for course information: info@personalcarescience.com.au Hope to support your studies soon!

    Hi Belinda -great videos- wondering if you knew of all natural or naturally derived sprayable gels (ie natural sprayable polymer ingredients?) Thanks

    • @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
      @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401  Před 5 lety

      Unfortunately not as effective as these synthetic materials (yet) - but we're seeing great launches all the time, especially of natural materials, so keep attending exhibitions we're bound to see one launched soon!

    Hi Belinda, could you use Aculyn 28P Polymer instead of the Novethix L-10 for this?

    • @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
      @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401  Před 4 lety

      I have not used it in a spray on product, so you'd have to get a sample and test it out. Not all polymers provide sprayable gel formations, so a sample is definitely necessary.

    Hi Belinda! Can you make a video or share some insight on how to make microemulsions?

    • @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
      @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401  Před 5 lety

      Microemulsions are created with very high shear and a good balance of emulsifiers with appropriately high HLB (for o/w emulsions) - then you achieve micelles with a micro-meter dimension, so you may already be doing this, just make sure you use high shear! Happy formulating.

    hi belinda could you please tell if any micro-kit is available for preservative efficacy test ...so that i can self test my formulations for preservative challenge..i have heard about it but could not find any...please take a topic on stability studies and preservative efficacy test in future. thanks.

      Preservative Efficacy Tests is not something you can do simply.
      It is done by mixing specific live strains of pathogenic (illness-causing) bacteria and fungi into your product and setting the sample in conditions favouring microbial growth. Then you do a culturing (make the microbes grow on an agar plate) of a sample and do a culture count. This is done over a period of time to assure there is no increase in growth and a sufficiently efficacious decrease in live microorganisms. It is best left to a certified lab working under Good Laboratory Practice.
      However, there are options to monitor your bacterial load in products such as Schulke Mikrocount.

    In sprayable gels, can i use lipid soluble actives but how to solubilize it? And another question, In this formulation can I use alternate propanediol instead of Zemea propanediol/formulation can be prepared without propanediol ?

      It would depend on many other factors also in the formula. We’d need to review your specific scenario to advise properly, please purchase consulting time here: personalcarescience.com.au/Advice/Advice-2046/

    please , i want to ask what do you mean by neutralizing the formula , you have , did you add acid or base ?
    also i want to know if we can use lubrizol without adding gelling agent to the lotion , as you added carbomer to the lotion ?
    thank you

    • @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
      @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi Areej, no that Lubrizol material is what helps it spray otherwise you are just creating a gel with the carbomer, and its doesn't have that beautiful spray pattern. These materials need neutralising as they come supplied in a tightly coiled acid form, and when neutralised correctly (with the right amount of alkaliser and method) they acheive their true functionality - please email us for full formulation, method and supplier details. Happy formulating!
