I kinda agree with this. From all the stories and what not I've read (cheaters regrets in particular) they love their partners, but overtime they start taking them for granted. They want that "spark", the "excitement" they once had, and instead of, idk TALKING about it with their partner, they look somewhere else. Usually, under the pretense of "It'll only happen once," which then turns into "They don't appreciate me anyway." And then ultimately, "What they don't know won't hurt them" They create a fantasy where they can have their cake and eat it to and no one gets hurt. Now, how they react is a whole other conversation, but in the end, they fall, and reality wins once again.

I kinda agree with this. From all the stories and what not I've read (cheaters regrets in particular) they love their partners, but overtime they start taking them for granted. They want that "spark", the "excitement" they once had, and instead of, idk TALKING about it with their partner, they look somewhere else. Usually, under the pretense of "It'll only happen once," which then turns into "They don't appreciate me anyway." And then ultimately, "What they don't know won't hurt them"
They create a fantasy where they can have their cake and eat it to and no one gets hurt. Eventually it becomes normal and they hardly feel the guilt. But suddenly, they're partner knows, and it's only when that fantasy crumbles that they realize and see the damage they've caused. Now, how they react is a whole other conversation, but in the end, they fall, and reality wins once again.
You can be in love and cheat. That's precisely why love is a terrible thing to base your whole relationship on.
