Hogwarts Legacy is set in the late 1800s, taking place in several Wizarding World locations such as Hogwarts Castle, Hogsmeade, and the Scottish Highlands. AppletonOak takes on the role of a student (voiced by Sebastian Croft or Amelia Gething) starting their studies at Hogwarts in the fifth year. The player character possesses the power to control a mysterious ancient magic and holds the key to an "ancient secret" that threatens the stability of the wizarding world.

LOL - I'm a 5'2" female and I sneeze like a banshee screaming. Oak sneezing is so quiet lol.
by the way, you keep finding tons of loot/gear and haven't {up to this point in what I've seen} equipped anything. If this was a military shooter, you're still using your starter pistol with a backpack full of unequipped weapon and armor drops. If an item you pick up has a green arrow it's better than what you're using, red arrow it is worse. There are scarves, robes, hats, gloves, glasses all with stat or spell bonuses. Edit - 30 seconds after I posted this you found that section lol. Also, look for the "Change Appearance" option when hovering over an equipped item, that way you can wear whatever you want for the stats yet have it look like anything you have previously picked up.
Tip: hit RB when it’s indicated on objects around you in battle. You then throw the object at enemies.
Tip: a circle area of effect on the ground around you indicates incoming damage, like when you fought the statues and they land on you. Dodge and/or run out of the circle to avoid damage. You cannot block these kinds of attacks.
For those of us who "know" you Oak. A large part of the enjoyment of watching you play this is seeing you enjoy the world of Harry Potter. You could do almost anything and it would still be entertaining...story or otherwise.

Yeah I feel the same. I wandered and got lost and did random side missions, and grinded for gear and beasts and collectibles with no direction. It’s fun to watch almost every part of this game, especially as fan of Oak and Harry Potter

@@mylesyuh A lot of people blast through the story line and miss a lot by not exploring, so there is a good point to that. However, the story line is an amazing one, so I think taking your time with both is the best way to play.

Tip about clothing, equip the item with the highest stats. Your menu has a “Change Appearance/Style” option that allows you to hide clothing or change the look of them. EDIT: he found it later on in the video lol

Was going to mention this. Update your gear often to increase your defense and offense scores. You don't like the way something looks you can choose X and choose any look you want based on what you already have even if you sold it off. And do that. The stuff that's low rated that you don't need, sell it. Easy money.

Oak, while fighting, make sure to use "RB" to attack enemies by using the objects around you. There are a bunch of random objects in your surroundings that you can use as extra weapons in a fight, with just 1 press of a button.
This also unlocks the coolest attack in the game - throwing explosive barrels at enemies!

Interestingly I prefer it as I like watching blind playthroughs where I get to see the persons reaction to things. People who know what they're doing generally already know the game so you lose that first reponse.

My tip: enjoy the game. Do side quests. Go visit interesting POIs that you remember from the movies. The main story in my opinion finishes a little quickly, so soak up as much of the world as you can.
Hey there! Some points of feedback☺️
- Incendio- remember you need to be up close to do any damage so remember to use Accio first
- When the big soldiers jump and a blue circle appears on the ground- that’s the area they’re about to strike so remember to roll quickly away (protego won’t work)
- When you’re getting attacked and a red (instead of yellow circle) appears around your head that means Protego can’t stop the attack- roll away instead
- During your final round of crossed wands I noticed you were mainly using stupify and the basic cast. Remember to make full use of the spells you’re learning and will continue to learn. You’ll need them for the bigger missions coming up.
With the spells you have now, you can pull opponents toward you with accio and then make use of incendio which only works up close but has a great amount of damage when used properly!
As others have said, we love to see you noticing HP-related stuff and getting excited about them - like you noticing the location of Hagrids Hut! ☺️ I’m not sure if you noticed but the bridge leading to it is also the bridge we see for the first time in Prisoner of Azkaban, at the end of which you reached the stones where Hermione lunched Draco lol. Hope you continue enjoying the wizarding world and we’ll keep enjoying it with you💗

There's absolutely nothing wrong with you not customizing your wand, if anyone is really that hurt about you not doing it they should go replay the game and customize their own. This is your game, your experience. You do it the way you want to do it oak. Much support and love❤️
Incendio is powerful, but only has a limited range. If only you had a spell that could get your target close to you before using it.
I’d like to add that I highly recommend you learn Confringo from Sebastian. It has a much higher range than Incendio and it is great against enemies and some of the timed pyre columns in the Merlin Trial puzzles.

yess another episode! This new series really has become the best part of my week. It's totally understandable that you kinda want to play the story instead of roaming, the further you get in the story however, the more freedom you get to do your own thing but you'll see... The world is huge and there are a lot of places that you otherwise would never go, just play the game on your own paste. We're here for the ride!
Playing as many hours as I have {400+}, the early advice that I found the most useful was, to stick to the story until learning at least Alohomora level 2 {3 is better obviously, but at Least 2}. The reason for that is, there are so many locks throughout the game that it can be tough to find them all again later, once you Can open them {if you care about that}. Plus it will give you a broad range of spells and combat experience along that path.
When using Revelio, the ding only tells that there is a guidebook page nearby but won't outright show it unless you are right next to it, so keep a look-out for a faint shimmer by any paintings and/or statues that seem to be of significance. You likely missed some because you focused on the other items that had a blue glow or spun around too fast to catch the faint shimmer.
Also, as you get more practice, you will soon get used to fighting multiple opponents at once, and you'll get the hang of defeating those stone knights. So don't sweat it; you only get better as you go.
He did miss a page that was infront of the map that turns blue when casting revellio with the button above it he also missed all the pages in Hogsmede especially the one at the bridge as you enter

If you pick up the blue orbs that drop when you are fighting the warriors it will give you more ancient magic and small amounts of health. You do have to pick them up before they disappear though. ❤️
I'm glad you learned how to change your appearance! Don't forget to SELL EVERYTHING. You don't have a lot of inventory space so you should only be holding onto the highest level items. Also now that you have the disillusionment spell go around the Hogsmeade to find the chests with eyes. They give 500 gold each.
That's not true. You can have multiple pieces, and some are stronger than others in certain aspects. Even if one has a higher def. It doesn't automatically make it better. You should do some research before telling him to mess up a potentially strong build.
@@darthvein3 Yeah that's wayyyyy too complicated for him. He doesn't seem to play games very intuitively. I'm trying to give simple advice that a super new player can follow.
Revelio note: When you cast Revelio and you hear the high "ting" sound, it's from nearby field guide pages. Also, anything that lights up blue is something you can solve and collect items from by trying different spells on them. You got this Oak and we are all looking forward to the next part!

I liked your decision to go with Ollivanders choice 🙌 made for a refreshing change of attitude. Praise to The Oak 👍 keep doing you, makes for a more entertaining watch, nobody wants to see everyone run the gauntlet the exact same way.
Oak! this is YOUR playthrough. we’re here to watch you do whatever you want; main missions, side quests, castle exploration…just have fun!
also, you need to dodge the jump attack. there is warning, but it’s different from the other warnings that you’re used to. a circle will appear under your feet, this is their damage radius. instead of using protego, try rolling out of the way 👍🏼 since incendio can only be used at close range, try using accio to bring the enemies closer to you first. loving the channel so far!
As a Hufflepuff, I am quite happy Oak got sorted into Hufflepuff. Total prefect Vibes too. I’d be reporting straight to Oak with BS.

I love how you give a recap of the important comments and things you learned before each session! Really cool! Your intros are amazing man!
This game keeps building the more you learn. I found it really fun to slowly build up that knowledge during my play-through so each time you play the adventure builds. Just like the Harry Potter series.
Oak: I know this isn't a game about vanity.
Also Oak: Removes all of his defensive clothing and runs around in his underwear with nothing but a cloak on.
Oak, you are an absolute treasure.
- Make sure to only tap heal once or otherwise you will waste all your potions each time you click it!
- Use the best gear that you have, look for the change appearance option to hide or change look when you hover over the gear menu and you will see it!
- Also if you see RB on items during combat, you can grab the item and throw it at your enemies! Very effective in combat!
Looking forward to part 4! ( more than any actual show I'm watching at the moment!)

Fact: the headmaster on the game, professor black is related to Sirius. In the movies he has frames on Dumbledore's office and grimmauld place (the order of phoenix headquarters). It is him who tells Harry and friends that Dumbledore used gryffindor's sword to destroy the ring horrocrux (he didn't know it was a horrocrux but that let harry know that the sword was capable of destroying them) and he told Snape that Harry was at the forest of dean (he overheard Hermione through the magic pouch, she took his frame in case he could be useful since the frame was connected to Dumbledores office) so he could leave the sword in the lake for him.
Tip: The dungeons (like the one hidden in the restricted section of the library) often have secret areas with hidden chests. Keep a look out for them as they are a fun and often have a mini puzzle attached to reach them (Be it a floor puzzle or a block ladder). I just don't want you to miss out on those hidden moments.
*The Pensive Sentries will become recurring enemies, so I'll leave this here:*
-Always focus on the Protego counter-attack, especially further on as you enable damage on Stupefy;
-When they jump, the expanding white-flame circle you can see beneath you is their "tell" or telegraph. Once you see this on the floor, don't use Protego, run/roll;
-When you see [RB] - Right Bumper on objects around you, you can press that key to lob those objects at your foes. There are several neat combos you can do with these;
-The Ancient Magic finisher is a one-shot one-kill skill. It is best used against the highest HP foe.
Playing defensive is the best course of action until you gain enough confidence to go on the offensive.
Levioso an enemy, so it's temporarily out of the picture while you deal with others, and while attacking is important, the moment you see the counter circle, you want to drop anything else and use Protego.
You can't Protego red counter circles. *You need to run or dodge-roll.*
I'll look out for more tips I can share as you progress in the game.
One of the cooler things about spells is coming up with your own combos. Real cool stuff to learn :)

Honestly one of the joys of watching your playthrough is seeing you discover new things in the potter universe. I would definitely recommend you try to do more side quests in between the main quest, the side quests will help to improve your XP which is important for later on

Just wanted to say, haven't seen the whole video yet, but dodge out of the way of the guards when they go in the air. The blue ring that surrounds the ground around you shows the impact radius of their hit, this will also help with future boss fights. Definitely recommend using your "RB" button as well, you can throw items at enemies, including but not limited to explosive barrels, boxes, anything laying around really. Enjoying watching you play this series and loved watching you become a HP fan!
When the pensive guards jump, you need to run or roll away from where they are intending to land. You need to look around more to get items from chests, you need more wiggenwelds and you haven’t learned how to make them. If you sell clothing items that are low stats, then you can gain coins for buying things you need. Try saving at least 10K in coins because you’ll need that and more for later in the game.
Oh, one more thing you might find helpful! You're attempting to cast Levioso, but you end up rolling instead. This is because you aren't holding down the right trigger when you press the Levioso button. If you go into the accessibility settings, there should be a setting that makes it so that spell-casting is a toggle on the right trigger, rather than a hold. This might help!
Opening chests often gives you wingem potions for health so always open the chests. In combat, something you missed the last video, if you press right bumper it will throw items at your enemies with ancient magic casts. Does a little damage and stuns your enemies. Essential for fighting against multiple opponents.

I can't get the game so I'm living vicariously watching you. Oh and the ding or chime while revelio is field pages the louder the ding the closer from what I understand they are the only things that ding glad you're having so much fun
The bell is ALWAYS a field guide page - but you may not be able to access it right away - it could be behind a locked door. Also, the bell has a distance indicator, the longer it takes to ping after 'revelio' the further from your current position.
The side quests also have awesome stories so it wont be boring if you do them. Also you need the level ups and prizes they offer to be able to do the main quests.
the best thing to learn is chaining the spells such as lift them up follow with fire... pull them followed with another type there are all sorts of different types of combo's if you practice with combos you will definitely win battles easier.....
It is such a treat watching you play Hogwarts Legacy, Oak. Take your time if you have to. The world in this game is stunning and there's nothing wrong with stopping to appreciate it at times. Someone may have already mentioned this, but the ding when you do Revelio specifically means there is a Field Guide Page in the area. It doesn't ding when it's just revealing chests or floo powder points, or other stuff like that. If you hear it, look for a shimmer. You may have to do it a bunch of times in the area to finally find it.
I love the combat system on this. Sometimes it can be so repetitive or clunky but this really lets you mix it up and the character movement animations are really interesting- like dance fighting

The gamplay is an incredible storyline, and there is plenty of time to explore the castle as you discover what is happening. Just take your time and enjoy it. I think the most important thing you can do is build your defenses and learn to use Protego.
each episode gets so much better to watch because you are slowly but surely learn the game mechanics, keep up the good work

This is story and play is really impressive!
From my understanding of the game is like the movie. You have your main story QUEST but the side missions can be rewarding. Like learning new spells and learn what cool things your avatar can do. Yes, revelio everywhere even if you've been in that room. Sometimes your feild pages fly out of sight. Revelio especially if your in a room under your cloaked form. It will allow you to see through walls and pin point your enemies. Revelio when outside and pick up plants and insects. You can go outside of the castle and around by yourself to explore it's ok if you venture off the main quest. It will still be there when you get back.
I really appreciate it when you tell us episodes and memories about your dad. It sounds like he was a very good-hearted and wise person, just like you are! I am enjoying this journey a lot, it's very fun and relaxing. Thank you Oak
Keep doing the side quests. The game play improves as you do them. The story line pushes it forward, but you'll want to do the side quests, as much as possible. Also, if you wander around you will find...secrets that explain some of the mysteries you keep finding. You will get some upgrades to the wand as you go along.
Don't forget to keep holding Y to cast Stupefy after you parry an attack with Protego (Y). It will stun them and you will deal significantly more damage to them with all of your spells, while they're stunned. You started doing it on your own during some of the fights, but this is a reminder. It's a very good game mechanic.

A hint with the guards since you will be fighting more of them in upcoming gameplay; the hint of them jumping is a blueish silver ring on the floor and it stays in the same area once it locks onto the floor!

Like a lot of people are saying, don’t worry too much about what we may want or about trying to be entertaining. A lot of the fun of watching playthroughs are the miscellaneous antics that people get up to. We come back to watch you guys, so just be yourself & have fun.
I'm really enjoying the series. I think 2 hours is a sweet spot for the length of these videos. Not too long, not too short. To me, it seems just right.
Finally i was waiting for this. Only remark i have is that when i saw how you love animals and not only you are big man you have big heart too, so you needed to be Hufflepuff. Also do Rivelio always specially at the start and when you do quest, it is from huge help

It's so nice to have the music back :3 Game felt weirdly "empty" without it. I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir here xD But yeah, definitely a major improvement to have it back.

if statue guardians or enemies jump at you there is a ring on the floor around you run or roll out of the ring or it will land on you
You can change appearances and keep the upgrades on. Hover over what you want to change the appearance of and press X and it will show you all of your different appearances. Never be afraid to sell items that lower your stats because you will always keep the appearance of all clothing items.
THANK YOU - I think I am a viewer who's seeing this with a different perspective than most others. I started play this game like two months ago, and I am NOT a video game player, so it was (is) really hard to understand the basic structure of like.. quests and what you can do with equipment and all those things not explained very well, or at least not more than once. So I've come a bit further than you in the game, and seeing you do it like a beginner like me, and seeing how you play, and how you take advice from comments helped me A LOT. Today I started play again, after a couple of weeks break. And it is a lot easier now that I understand what I am supposed to do (revelio all the time, change gear, talk to people, and a bunch of small tips). Also doesn't make me feel like shit when you struggle as hard as I am sometimes 😅
For that puzzle door, I wont spoil anything but there is a key to how it works hidden somewhere in Hogwarts. Also be sure to look around not only are there a ton of easter eggs but there's some amazing design details. One set of windows in the castle changes colour with the seasons so the depicted scene shows tree's at different times of year. The ding is field guide pages you were staring right at one and missed it. Also certain objects require certain spells so be sure to go back over things as you learn new ones.
1:05:02 is where Oak really kicked in with his reflexes. The muscle memory needs work, but it's a new "build" he had just went with, so understandable.
I feel like if Oak plays a game like "Elden Ring", no game will ever be difficult afterwards. That game forces you to learn patterns and sharpens reflexes and muscle memory you'll never forget.
i'd love it much longer, these games are large; and it be fun to watch y'all play these games.

It’s been a while since I played, but I believe the dinging when you cast Revelio is only to alert you about pages in the area. Chests and other things will still light up, but the sound isn’t related to them. I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong.
Spells have cooldowns. If you try to cast it again and it’s not letting you, you have to wait. You can see how long you have to wait by looking at the icons.

Don't grab all the chests in the castle while you're still under level 10. All the gear you find will scale itself to your currently level. If you get all of it while you're still low level then all the gear will be low level. Get a few more levels in then go ham on all the chests you can find. Make sure you have room in your gear slots when you find giant ornate chests. There's a bug that won't let you open them again if your gear slots are full the first time.
i wish i knew that the first thing i did when i started was explore and get all the chests now im level 30 something and all the gear sucks lol

Oak, as always - I am so glad to see you continuing this journey. A tip! About clothing! You can always equip the item and there is an option to "hide" it so it doesn't appear on your character but you still retain the stats for it. Also if you find a an outfit that you really like, you can customize the outfit so that even if you change your outfit to get higher stats, you can make it still look like the outfit you like. You are doing great Oak! It doesn't matter what you do, I personally just enjoy watching you play this game. Doesn't matter if you are playing story or just running around. We all did it - we all got to go back home in a sense, so we all enjoyed it by spending hours just walking around. And I personally will enjoy watching you do the same!
Also that is Hagrid's Place - before Hagrid was there though. However, to avoid spoilers - I will just say - you should explore around the Hut a bit. You may find a nice surprise.

I'm a Ravenclaw. My dad and his husband are both proud Slytherins. I love them, and they're a token to their House. I have a cousin who is also a Slytherin, and he proudly has the dark mark on his arm. . . Not nearly as shiny token to the house.
I support all Houses as well. I love finding out what House people are in.
This is SUCH an entertaining series! Can't wait for more. I laughed when before figuring out that you can change appearances, you dressed your wizard into all the mismatched higher-stat clothing! So funny! You're honestly catching on really quick, I was gonna comment the 'Change Appearance' option, but you figured it out on your own! (It took me a while to realize it was an option when I played... so my character was running around like a hot mess for a looong time lol)
Yeah, my character was running around in very low stat gear for half the game because I didn’t like the mismatched look! They really hid that change appearance setting, lol.
This is like the best Christmas present for me!
It's nice to see Oak just trying again and again until he succeeds in the fights, especially considering he's new to this genre of combat. And just enjoying the game in general. Good job.
You can keep your most powerful gear on, you can also hide your gear by hovering over cloaks, or headwear etc and pressing X. Then you can hide your gear.

The hotter/colder thing works great outside the castle (where things are 2D). In the castle, you can get a chime when a scroll is upstairs, downstairs, or behind a wall. I spent many many hours going crazy because of the chimes in the castle. Rule-of-thumb: when outside hotter/colder always works, but when inside set a time limit and be ready to walk away.
I get so excited seeing these videos on my feed! Loving these so much!! Here’s some battle tips (not really a spoiler, but knowing the basics allows you to hone your magic): Break the color shields with the SAME color spell (accio is a purple spell, that breaks purple bubbles, and so on). Otherwise, if you start with spells of other colors, the shield will not break. The reason stupify works so well is that it breaks ANY shields to open up enemies for attack :) also use RB in battle when you see it on the screen (in tiny little letters) so you can launch barrels at enemies (I saw you do it a few times so don’t know if it was accidental or not!). If you aim your camera at an enemy or walk up closer to them, that’s a way to select them. I never used that target lock thing it was too hard!
explore and complete as much as your field guide as you can before the end of the game there are hidden rooms so check everything even if it does not look like it has a door and is just a flat wall

when you're duelling there's sometimes the 'rb' sign around. when you press 'rb' suring a fight when you see that you will throw stuff (vases, barrels etc.) at your opponents and it does some damage to them so that's really helpful!
