First time playing The Walking Dead Telltale
The Walking Dead is a fantastic show lead by Rick Grimes. Now it's time for Badd Medicine to dive into The Walking Dead games. The zombie apocalypse in the state of Georgia. Most of the characters are original to the game, which centers on convicted criminal Lee Everett who becomes a protective figure to a young girl, Clementine, and must help her find her parents.

these games are split into episodes. you guys should be doing 1 episode per video. much better for orginization and for viewers. you guys only did like 80% of the first episode. so the next video will be like a weird mix of the ending of episode 1 and 50% of episode 2. ALSO this game is very much more story based than gameplay based. its not really like detroit so dont worry too much about messing up since you will most of the time get a redo if you die.

Story is great but the game itself isn't really all that when you realize none of your choices matter. It's more of a reactionary (just googled to double check the definition and wow that's not what I meant) game than a your-choices-matter game. It also messes with the how much someone might replay it. I only hope they redo the whole series one day since I still enjoyed the storytelling. It just feels kinda limited especially when stuff like DBH, BG3, and so on exist

@@jam2727 the choices are more-so to give the player a morality option. It Lets you decide what type of person you want to be kind of. And I mean the game has some pretty important choices quite a few times that actually make things different,at least slightly different.
For example: deciding between who lives and dies will give you different options later on with those people,and different dialogue obviously. But I get your point,not everything matters to the degree it could. But yea,story is still 11/10 !!

@@BaddMedicineArcade The subtitles are actually great in this game. They pace themselves with the voice acting, and are color coded for character recognition! Great accessibility
One thing to note, the Telltale games take place in the same universe as the Comics, not the TV Show.
I’m surprised nothing about Rick’s story was mentioned in any of the seasons since they’re in the same state
@@CasualCat64in a way I am glad it’s not mentioned; and only Easter eggs exist, that way people aren’t expecting Rick to pop out of nowhere. Instead, it’s a brand new, fleshed our adventure with brand new, well-written characters!
Exatcly, this is the same Hershel, and yeah, in the tv show he has a son named shawn, he is in the barn with his mother on hershel's farm. This is the same universe, its official story of the walking dead.

actually in the show, shawn did exist. he was one of the walkers in the barn, along with their mother. maggie talks about them both at the farm
yup. I'd imagine that since this takes place just after shit hit the fan, it's quite a while before Rick and his crew show up at the farm, timeline-wise.
So would it be safe to say that this scene in this game was Cannon to the why he was locked in that Barn? 😂

Just a recommendation. I suggest playing an entire episode per video. Where you guys stopped in this video you had roughly 10-15min left in the episode. Loved the video 👍🏻

Just a little tip from you guys coming of Detroit, telltale is known for their choices not massively impacting the plot points itself in earlier seasons, unlike Detroit, but the choices do affect how other characters speak and interact with you and their willingness to help you out later on
The best description I found was "it doesn't impact the plot that much but it does impact the story"
Doesent matter the story and its endings are all fully set in stone. None of your choices and dialogues matter in the end. As proven by the guy who played the entire game without saying anything „…“ and still got the same (of course) ending of the first episodic series. Its like taking 3 different trains to reach the same destination. Its sad that even in mass effect your choices mattered more in the end and it didnt sell itself as „all your stuff matters“
I guess giving different ending foe eqch episodes or atleast make all choices matter for different endings in the Last episode was too much work. So lets make it all about the story of clementine

I thought after all these years my soft spot for Clem would've lessened but the moment I heard her mom's message followed by little Clem's voice I got all teary eyed. 😭😭
Everytime I watch or do a playthrough, I'm still attached to clementine. It makes "evil runs" really rough because you don't wanna be mean to her XD

To answer a question/observation that Oak brought up: the Telltale Games are more based on the comics rather than the show. So the character designs are based on their comic designs instead of the actors from the show.

Quick thing regarding the dialogue choices; 59:11, Answer mentions that you guys don't know if Lee's family is dead. _You_ guys don't know that, but _Lee_ is able to make an educated guess, so you have the option to say his family is dead. Remember, Lee has information that we don't! Sometimes they will give options a "lie" indicator, too!
Finally! This is gonna be an emotional rollercoaster and i'm here for it!

This is the comic universe just so You know hershel is a bit more angry in the game and the comic and he looks just like that in the comic
I played through these games with my friend last summer. Greatest games in the genre.
It's tied with tales from the borderlands for me. I think tales surpasses in characters and story overall. Followed by wolf among us. For me it's
1) Tales from the borderlands
2)the walking dead season 1&2
3) the wolf among us
I agree, while love twd tales for me is just fun from start to finish and can be played with 2 people, me and my friend have played it twice where we picked either Fiona or Rhys and then the second time we switched@@matthewglover8804

Plus its so much better without subtitles ad you have to actually listen to the person speaking and judge for yourself what you heard.

@@PuppetMaster-Blade not everyone watching them is a native english speaker. the subtitle is more for the viewer than the guys. personally sometimes its hard for me to differentiate if its the character speaking or the guys, and often i find it hard to hear the game dialogue when the guys are talking with each other.
To this day I will watch anyone who plays this game for the first time, just to relive the memories.

Just FYI TWD Telltale games are based in the comic book series WD universe not the AMC TV series universe. That's why Hershel Greene looks different. He was based on his comic book counterpart.
This game and the following 4 games (3 sequels and a spin-off) are all made by Telltale. An company that has made a whole lot of games including: 2 Batman choice games, 2 Minecraft choice games, a Borderlands choice game, which Borderlands 3 made canon, a Wolf Among Us game, with a planned sequel, based on comic books the characters are all fables, like the 3 little pigs, Snow White, Sleepy Hollow. An Guardians of the Galaxy game. And a Game of Thrones Game. And there was a planned Stranger Things game before they went bankrupt.
Telltale went bankrupt in 2018, while the last game in the Walking Dead series was being released (as every some months they released an episode at a time, which Telltale always did). As all their ips they were trying to use to make games with, cost to much money. But their sister company with the help of some fired Telltale workers finished the final game for the fans. But Telltale has mostly come back with a other game based on the book series/TV series, "The Expanse" and a planned sequel to probably their most famous 1 off game, "Wolf Among Us"
Dude honestly I think tales from the borderlands is up there in best games of all time conversation. Top 500 type lists lol it's so incredible. Definitely telltales magnum opus,and I absolutely love TWD series they did. Tales just hits different

@@pieck5460 it's one of those hate it or love it. It's not very good game of thrones content,but it's worth a playthrough in my opinion. It's interesting enough and has some good moments. I enjoyed it,but I've played all games telltale has made. It's one of the weaker ones but I would recommend trying the first episode and seeing how you like it. It does feature Ramsay Bolton as one of the main characters if that excites you
Edit: i should mention,Ramsay is not a playable character,just one of the main characters you will interact with and the story revolves arouns
@@pieck5460 It's not, the ending is terrible and doesn't make sense. The final two chapters with the "monsters/human" ruin the whole game. That's why it's not as popular as The Walking Dead.
I played it and wasted my money on it.

This game doesn't have a lot of gameplay, but it makes up for it by torturing you emotionally.

You guys have to play the game like you don't know about zombies. You're telling him to look for food, but it's the first day and he doesn't know what's going on. He wouldn't just start stealing food and random flashlights.

45:17 Shaun dies regardless unfortunately. I can’t remember what happens but he still ends up getting bitten even if you choose to save him. Kenny still saves Duck if you choose to save Shaun.
