  • I have 2 nitro mugen mbx6's so I decided to convert 1 to brushless to see which setup i prefer.... also sometimes I just don't have the time for nitro startup/ after run etc, so I am hoping this will give me the chance for a quick mugen fix if i want it!....

    Awesome video!! You've helped me a lot!! I also bought a hyper 7 that I'm converting but my conversion kits came with no instructions so I've been doing a lot of guessing. Couldn't find any guidelines out there and just watched your video and understood a lot more about what to do. Thanks!!

    Hi!
    I have an 1/8 nitro truggy with a brushless conv. Bought it off some guy who stopped his hobby. He told me it was 4s ready but when i dropped my 16,8volt 4s lipo in it completely stripped the hardened steel spur gear on minimal throttle. Any advice on how to get it to drive normally and be kinda durable?

    How did you like the brushless compared to nitro?
    I have seen a guy use a different type of adapter that has gears in it. Do you know if it would be better to use reduction gears or does it wok out pretty good with the rpm with the direct connection? Perhaps the other kit is more for rock crawlers.?

    • @RCmaxxUK
      @RCmaxxUK  Před 6 lety +2

      hi mate, yes the direct drive ( spur to pinion) as i had it was great. I now have the 2 nitros and an eco mugen mbx6... vids on the channel. I wanted to keep the nitros as they were , so i looked out for a used eco roller. got 1 cheap. its a superb car and excellent e setup. really good motor mount etc. i thoroughly recommend the mugen eco... now the 7r i guess... but my 6's are awesome! i have no intention of upgrading as to me they just work so well!

    How much runtime w different type of batteries and gearing?
    How does it compare to when it was nitro vs now that is BL?
    *good build video!

      Hi mate. thanks. I actually only ran this car 2 or 3 times b4 changing it back to nitro. I ended up buying a mugen mbx6 eco to run brushless as its factory brushless of course. A very nice car!
      as a result I cannot comment much on runtime or gearing changes. check out the running vid of this and the running videos of my eco on the chanel to give you some ideas.
      In the eco i run 5000mah 4s with a 2650 castle motor. the speed is instant of course and its a flying machine! really easy to drive very fast. i would say 20 mins runtime as an estimate.
      Nitro is very different. I love a real fuel engine so when I have the time to dedicate to tuning etc its my preferred setup. you can't however beat that hit of power and trick ability of the brushless setup though. I have a beach running video with the eco where i am hitting 20 meter plus backflips!... crazy! I was not happy with my brushless conversion and the factory eco setup is spot neat. If u want to convert I would think buying the factory eco parts to fit would be the best bet.. or more ideally find an eco roller like i did. ;)

    Just 1 question from a noob. Why you change the steering servo?
    And what motor and ESC you bought?

    • @covinhas87
      @covinhas87 Před 8 lety

      +Joao Jesus turnigy 1900kv and 120A ESC? And 17t pinion?

    • @RCmaxxUK
      @RCmaxxUK  Před 8 lety

      +Joao Jesus Hi mate. I did not change the steering servo. Just the servo mount. I was only trying this out so i did not want to cut the stock carbon servo tray...made my own instead for less that £5.

    • @RCmaxxUK
      @RCmaxxUK  Před 8 lety

      +Joao Jesus yes i believe it was a 17t pin...def 1900v and 120 hw esc. I now have a mugen mbx6 eco and i am running the castle 2450 motor /hw120 esc and 14-17tpin..

      Hi mate. I got my mbx6's used and they both came with those rear mud flaps or arm protectors so I'm guessing they r a factory part. Cheers. 👍

    Hi mate, I have two Mbx5 nitro's. One was bought new and the other second hand. These are great buggy's, super tough and still able to match it today..... I've started to convert one of my Mugan's to electric but a bit stumped on the motor mount. Where did you get your motor mount from? Is it a Mugan part or from an aftermarket conversion kit? The Mbx5 and the Mbx6 look fairly similar. Cheers......Nice video too.

    Hi! Where from original receiver takes energy? Is it from new battery pack? I just wonder my car receiver runs on 6v, but after conversion with 3s lipo battery it would get 11v
    I just wonder can my receiver burn of so hight voltage?
    Thanks

    • @RCmaxxUK
      @RCmaxxUK  Před 7 lety

      Jānis Valters hi mate. The reciever is plugged into the esc. So it goes: battery/ esc/ reciever. Esc only supplies the 6v or so the reciever and servo requires. Cheers. 👍👍

    nice conversion, hope the 120 amp esc can take the weight dude I tried a short course setup when I first converted one of my hyper 7s geared it slightly too high n cooked it, id start low 13/14t pinion n work it from there temp permitting.

    • @RCmaxxUK

      Good advice mate. Thanks. 👍 I've got the 2000kv ripper/ leopard motor in there now after the turnigy 1900kv gave up on me. After being in my mt4 it should be good in the mugen. I will make good use of my temp gun tho. Think I've dived in with a 17t pin... Might even b 19.... I had better check! 👍👍

    • @rcextreme411
      @rcextreme411 Před 9 lety

      maxNluca ripper motors are allot better than the turnigys just got to keep an eye on the esc thank god for thermal shutdown feature its saved my arse one to many times lol.should be sweet in the mugen.Im still patiently waiting for an mbx6t to appear on eBay for the right price.much cheaper to convert 2nd hand nitro than getting ripped off by model sport lol

      very true mate!..... Funny u mention the mbx6t... I have also been looking out for 1... but saw an mbx5t instead and i felt the price was good so i went for it. I know its an old model but I hear its tough and I'm so impressed with he quality of the mbx6 i thought why not!arrived today actually. about to do an unboxing vid :)

      maxNluca sounds good fella if its good quality parts that's all that matters old model or new. I recently got a mint used hong nor x2 crt pro truggy roller for 50 quid on ebay it had the lightened cnc parts throughout and is pretty much indestructible. hit a lamppost at 50 mph only thing that broke was the wing mount, they still sell the shocks that are on it for 80 quid for their new models lol not to mention the decent tyres and proline bulldog shell. the deals are rare but they do come in on occasion. Just be prepared to look hard for conversion kits etc,best part is the challenge of getting it just right oh and saving quite a few hundred quid as well.
      cant wait to see your running vids dude good luck

      Wow mate!....£50!! that's a mega bargain! I do like the new kits for sure... but new does not always mean better or much better...I don't think i got the best bargain in the world with this mbx5t, but its ok. rc isn't cheap as we all know! running vids will of course be coming. cheers. ;)

    no brakes ??? i think you shud have install that back. Did you notice that it does not stop abruptly when you release your remote trigger unless you hit the trigger on reverse, try not hitting the rverse and you will see that your car does not stop abruptly instead it will still run for about 12-18 inches more.
