  • RC Pit-Stop 51 - Losi 8T Electric Conversion
An opportunity came up for me to do a electric conversion on a friend's Losi 8ight-T, so I took him up on it. He offered the car to me to do this video for you and to be able to run it at least once to show you how it goes compared to mine. This video explains the effort it takes to convert a stock Losi 8ight-T RTR into electric. The result may surprise you...
Thank you for watching and hope you enjoyed the video. :)

Great video Vas, I did the same conversion on my nitro truggy after seeing the conversion you did on your gasser. I didn't bother with the front and rear diffs. I'll fix them if they fail. I also left the stock steering servo. I could have warned you about the diffs if you just would have asked! LOL

Parts confusion is because AussieRC got special HorizonHobby version of Team Losi Racing 8IGHT-T 3.0 with gas engine (LOS04001). The car which is in the video is 8IGHT-T Nitro RTR: 1/8 4WD Truggy (LOS04011). It is kind of consumer grade version of TLR with lighter diffs, smaller OD front shocks, etc.

Just to add another thing, if you have a receiver where you've set a failsafe to apply the breaks for nitro during signal loss, make sure you rebind/reset the receiver before calibrating the ESC! Just had a little snafu happen after my initial shakedown run, didn't follow turning off my ESC before the radio. Fortunately, nothing broke and nobody was hurt.

I do also have the 8IGHT-T 4.0 roller which I purchased the conversion kit for .. also, going with the same kit you bought from HobbyWing, the EZRun MAX 8 combo.. now, I'm totally new to electric, this is my first. Your video didn't go into much detail about the battery. I want to go with 4S, so, how did you set this up ? Did you do 2 2S LiPo's or get adapter to make 1 connection and go with 1 4S battery ? What battery did you choose for the build ? etc etc etc .. HELP 🤯

Looks like David bought a Losi 8ight-T 2.0 RTR, not a TLR 8ight-T 2.0. It is a shame that Horizon / Losi changed the drivetrain from the TLR kit to the Losi RTR version. The gas diffs are not actually different to the nitro diffs. The losi 8ight t 2.0 nitro race roller and rtr and gas diffs were the same, but the 3.0 rtr had 2 gears and race kit had 4, and the one in this video was a 3.0 rtr, which is why the conversion kit parts didn’t fit. If you have a race kit then this kit should work fine. If you have 3.0 rtr then it’s different like the one in the video.

Hey, you put a wrong part number for Front Ring & Pinion Gear Set. It should be 242011 and 242012.

What bothers the shit out of me is having a Tekno conversion from a decade ago and trying to revive it, only to find a bunch of these videos because nitro is basically extinct. I like having neutral and brakes and just wanted to bind a new radio damnit.
