This guy is onto something. People are increasingly identifying with their hobbies, their interests, their subcultures, rather than anything real or stable.

It’s really important that we understand the various worldviews around us, so that we can recognize how much we ourselves are affected by them. I recommend the book “Hidden Worldviews” by Steve Wilkens

I don't have such a point of view on these things. Thank you for this. Seeing the world in a Biblical perspective is really 💕

He spoke about how Freud noticed how much our sexual desire (from childhood onward) shapes our lives and our society. And how Freud contributed this idea that we are our sexual desire. Identification with sexual desire.
Some sexual desires are considered right/legal, others are considered wrong/illegal. And if someone is identified with their sexual desire, then they are essentially being told that they are right or they are wrong.
Hence terms like “cis” and “heteronormative.”
Of course, as we travel down the slippery slope, we inevitably come to MAPs… to this idea of destigmatizing pedophilia. I suppose we could also arrive at RTAPs (rape and torture attracted persons) to destigmatize sexually sadistic serial killers.
The mistake in all of this is that we are identifying with sexual desire. Sexual desire that is polluted by trauma and trapped in the lower chakras will naturally result in the “sexual identities” that most people view as reprehensible. It is considered reprehensible for a reason… sexual violence with non-consenting people and child sexual abuse are both incredibly traumatic for the victims.
Ultimately, the people with those “sexual identities” have experienced abuse themselves. It is normal for survivors of sexual abuse to need an element of force to be sexually aroused. If they identify with sexual desire, they are identifying with a trauma response. This is a terrible cage for someone to put themselves in. The realization of the self as child of God is the only antidote to this madness.

    "What is the modern self?"
(Sorry for the VERY long "comment". But I do believe it NEEDS to be espoused)
Kind Sirs...you said..."How did we get to where we are at now, Culturally?"
Now I intend NO disrespect to either of you...But I believe we are now...where MOST Christians have LET this wold become NOTHING but a "Cesspool of Dunghills"; to the "4 corners of the World". Oh indeed...
For over the last 200 yrs we have:
    1. Let women preach and/or teach in church. When Paul said NO! More than once. Oh yes he DID! 1 Corinthians 14:34-35
    2. Believed that the "word of God" was a book. When the bible says clearly; that Jesus is the ONLY "Word of God". John 1:1 and 14
    3. Believed that bibles are "Inerrant and Infallible". When ONLY Jesus is that quintessential "Fact absolute". For ALL bibles have many errors! Believe it or not. ONE example...Dueteronomy 24:1 vs Mathew 19:3-8. But there are MANY more. Sadly
    4. Stopped disciplining our children; like King Solomon told us to do; in Proverbs 6:22; 22:15; 13:24; 23:13 and 14.
    5. Allowed those "coming out of their closets" take over; like "Sodom and Gomorrah" all lover again before God destroyed all; but "Lot" and his 2 daughters! Rather than following Leviticus 20:13 and Romans 1:25-29,
    6. Allowing "so-called" music; that is nothing but "Unbelievably" LOUD noise! Called "modern Gospel Music"; when it is nothing but satan-led, Godless "Rock"; promulgated by satan in hell.
Where satan led an undisciplined, spoiled brat called "Elvis Presley; in 1954. into the world. That would eventually destroy every vestige of good music. Sad. But Elvis would be a Sunday School Picnic; to compare what is out there now! May Jesus have mercy!
    7. (80% Christians) Believe that one COULD lose their "Salvation". When Jesus made it crystal clear; that was impossible. Even though the writer of Hebrews adamantly called Jesus a liar; in Hebrews 6:4-6 and 10:26. Which is one more example of lies in the bible. Vs, Mark 3:38-29.
Not to mention; James saying one MUST do "works and faith" to get saved. When Paul said NO. "ONLY faith". So James was a liar. And Paul got it right. But most of the disciples sided with James. How sad. As did most of the Christian World. Sad!
And...no wonder Jesus inspired Paul to have 13 books in the NT. May Jesus rest Paul's precious soul. But sadly, the above lies shows that even Paul made mistakes. IE: 2 Timothy 3:16. Sad, but true.
End of Story. And again I meant NO disrespect to you two kind Sirs...
...In any case Brethren, Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!

I detected countless errors in your writing. I don't think you are mentally well. If you are, you lied for some reason only God knows. I would try to probe into your "reasons" for what you wrote but considering they are egregiously incorrect and I don't expect any kind of short and concise response from you, I'll leave this comment with you and not respond.
