  • How To Compress And Stuff A Sleeping Bag Without Breaking The Straps!
    As simple as it sounds, most people break their compression straps due to lack of compressing their bag right! See more videos here: outdoorvitals.com/Care
    In this video, we teach you exactly how to compress a sleeping bag down and fit it into it's stuff sack. We also cover how to compress the bag once you've fit it into its compression bag.
    First, you want to fold your sleeping bag end over end until you feel like your rolling your sleeping bag up. While doing this you want to gently push the air out of your sleeping bag as to not damage the bag at the seams.
    Once you have it rolled and the air pushed out you'll want to tuck it under your arm and get your compression sack ready. Push the sleeping bag into the compression sack making sure to get it all the way to the bottom of the sack. Once you've got it most of the way in you can start pushing a little more aggressively pushing the last remaining parts into the compression bag.
    Once you have the sleeping bag into its sack it's time to compress it safely. To do this you need to use your body weight and NOT yank on the straps. Gently put your body weight onto the sleeping bag compressing the bag down. Once it's compressed with your bodyweight simply pull the compression straps gently to snug them up. This will eliminate breaking your straps and actually get the sleeping bag smaller and tighter than you could by pulling on the straps!
    Now you are all set to go! Reach out to us if you have any more questions at any of the following!

    I've a question about the compression sack, how do I know which size of compression sack do I need for my sleeping bag?
    Mine is just rolled in the regular stuff sack that came with it, nothing fancy.

      @ashvadher3397 Před 7 lety

  •  Před 5 lety

    Every other video I've seen simply shoves the bag foot bed first into the sack that way it guarantees all the air is taken out + it goes in A LOT easier than trying to roll it up.

  • @SOTTO-ur2kz
    @SOTTO-ur2kz Před 2 lety

    I always unzipped the foot end of the bag about 6" to 8" and stuff from the head end first that way you have the smallest end of the bag to stuff last.

    • @TaysonWhittaker
      @TaysonWhittaker  Před 5 lety +1

      It's best to keep sleeping bags and quilts uncompressed as much as possible. You probably won't cause much harm by having it packed up a week early, but it may take more time to loft up when you are on the trail.

      Great questions,
      All of our sleeping bags come with a compression sack, and compress nicely. This particular bag is sold on our site for $169.98. That's lower than you'll be able to find that through retail. However if you're still looking for something on a tighter budget, we have bags starting at around $50. www.outdoorvitals.com

    I heard you aren't supposed to roll it at all and stuff from bottom to top of the bag into the compression bag. Is there any truth to this? The lady told me it breaks down the inside if you roll it.

    • @TaysonWhittaker
      @TaysonWhittaker  Před 7 lety

      +Christopher Aspelin if you where simply tightening the bag as sight as possible all the way from the bottom to the top (rolling) there could be a big more stress on the seams. However, I don't think it's an issue we have ever seen and I wouldn't worry about it. But rolling takes longer than simply folding in half and studying it in that way...does that help?
