    Hi Aaron, I just ordered one of these Event sacks for my Mountain Hardwear Phantom 0 F down bag due to your video.
    In the past I have used Sealline sacks that have the one way valve to release air and they have worked well.
    I bought this S to S sack because it weighs less and does not need a valve to let air out. Less to fail.
    Thank you.

    hi! I'm new to backpacking, I figured itd be worth a shot posting a comment. what size do you recommend for a kelty cosmic down 0 degree bag?

    • @ALinsdau
      @ALinsdau  Před 3 lety

      You could put it in a Sea to Summit Large (20L) bag with some work.
      It'd be pretty near-impossible to cram the Kelty Cosmic into a Medium since the Kelty is 4 lb. 9 oz. / 2.07 kg. YMMV.
      Honestly for a bag that heavy/big, I'd get the Sea to Summit XL (30L) and then avoid the struggle when you're cold/tired. The few extra ounces will make it worth it when your hands are freezing while stuffing the sleeping bag into the compression sack at 3am on a cold mountain. :)

    @joenomad4592 Před 3 lety +1

    Do you think that compressing the bags as much as you do has had an effect on their respective temperature ratings over the years? For example, do you think your Antelope bag is at this point just as warm as it was when you first bought it? Or do you think that it’s more like, say, a ten-degree bag at this point since it has been compressed so much and so many times over many years? I imagine that the down has broken down to some extent over the years and is now less lofty and the bag less warm.

    • @ALinsdau
      @ALinsdau  Před 3 lety +5

      According to WM, there's no effect - AS LONG AS - the bag was completely dry when it's squashed. I've never noticed a drop in ~20 years of use.

    • @ALinsdau
      @ALinsdau  Před měsícem

      According to Western Mountaineering, their testing shows AS LONG AS the down is DRY, it'll be okay for a "long" time. I just left my WM Puma stuffed in a compression bag for a week while waiting for clear weather to fly to Denali - it worked just fine.

    • @ALinsdau

      The 14L would be much easier to stuff. Plus you can add down booties to the bag and still have some space. You can always cut the straps.

      so i've ordered an exped 13l compression bag plus the schnozzel for pumping, cause it is the only one, which compresses horizontal, which makes much more sense (for me):
