  • In this Video I attempt to unstick a rear brake caliper on my w109 6.3. I want to rebuild these calipers, but first need to remove the pistons to check their condition. These are wider than the standard rear calipers as to accommodate the thicker vented rotors.
The seals needed to reseal the two half's can be purchased here.

I also take a little time to show you jobs that are coming up. Removing the rear axle and prepping for tipping the body shell to start work on the underside. I'll also show you the progress on the front subframe rebuild and testing the front airbags.

Another great result, looking forward to the rotisserie happening.

Nice job on the calipers, John.Wonder about the chrome missing on the leading edge, with new pads its very close to the seals. Looking at same issue here. Think new pistons needed.

Do you mind posting the part/model # for the grease gun. I got one, but it’s definitely got no metric fittings/threads on it. With 8 callipers to go it will be well worth its price.

I will see when I get back to the parts store. What I did was unscrew the adapter (the one that goes on the zerk fitting). Are you in the US? I bought the gun from my local Riebes Napa auto parts store. But I will follow up with you. Are you in the Mercedes Maintenance and Mercedes rescue groups on Facebook? If not, come join us. Cheers John.

I dont know how those rotors arent rusted. The rotors on my motorcycle rust on surface if i dont ride in more than 4 weeks.
