These cars are so amazing but undervalued. I bought one a few years ago that needed lots of tlc to bring it back. I am only the second owner. Now it looks and runs beautifully. 280se w108. Dark blue with an ivory white interior. Turns heads everywhere. More should be saved and restored. They are worth it.

I restored my ‘68 280SEL Euro model 25 years ago, when they were really forgotten and parts prices and restoration costs were - well cheap compared to nowadays. So happy I did it then, and have kept her up to tip-top shape.
I’ll never get rid of her and just ceramic coated it, which makes that midnight blue want to make you swim in it!
Thanks for this video & please keep em comin’!
    God Bless
    😎

It's lonely being a Mercedes sedan enthusiast. I love them but it's almost depressing how many have been run into the ground...

    I have a 1968 middle blue 280S (w108) and a 1969 hellbeige 6.3 (w109).
Both are still in original conditions. Exterior, interior, engine, transmissão, eletric….. Never restored.
Believe me. They are dream cars. Better than many new cars.
People who owns one of this know what they are.

According to Mercedes Benz the fins on the W111 were intended as a guide to the driver to park when you were going in rear gear

Rust, rust rust. Mechanicals on these things are relatively easy and cheap enough. Rust can have one off the road for years or spending many thousands at a shop getting it repaired. And even moderate rust can see the a-pillar almost detached from the sills. After that the car is not worth recovering.
Also rust in the bottom of the doors is almost a given. Skins aren't available and the construction of the door structure and seal section at the bottom means the skins rust as well as the structure.
And quite often they are repaired with bog.
A zero rust, non-bogged model is worth a lot more than rusty or badly repaired one, even if it's worse mechanically.

You forget the V8 Engines M116/M117 / The 3.5 M116 is the best engine for the W108

Especially if it is with a four speed manual.
