    First !
You use it on occasion ?
I’m using it just about every night , albeit at a low dose of 3mg quick dissolve tablet along with 2 tablets of magnesium glycinate.
I’ve heard much about magnesium L-theronate and might try that instead.
    Natrol brand .

Same. Except I use sublingual 3 mg. And I take a break on Saturday.

What's your thoughts on its use for cancer in high doses

In our Review, we discuss several studies using high-dose melatonin during cancer treatment. It does not seem to affect cancer itself, but, due to its improvement in sleep, could be beneficial to the patient -- although not clear that such as high dose is necessary. www.consumerlab.com/reviews/melatonin-supplements/melatonin/#whatitdoes

Melatonin supplements, including those pictured, have never helped me with sleep at any dosage.

That means your insomnia, and I'm assuming you have it, is not based on circadian issues. It's probably related to digestive system issues but that's just a guess without any real data.
I can tell you, for me, it has been absolutely life changing. I have ADHD and delayed sleep phase disorder and melatonin has helped tremendously.
