40 years type 1 diabetic here.... Immunologist. This possible therapy was put forward in the early 90s. Recently in the US a company has develop engineered cells which, when implanted can keep a patient diabetic free for 6 month. Didn't hear of it after that. US startups have been working on it for a while now... Maybe not so good for business... Now I'll go to China if I can be cured after 1 injection because the US would most likely ban it. It's published work so I look forward to it. Although diabetes has a functional medicine i.e insulin it is a difficult disease to manage between the low/high and the cost of supplies here in the US. The antibody therapy recently approved by the FDA only delays the diabetes onset, and as such, antibody therapies cost a fortune. Most likely an immunotherapy with a myriad of possible side effects with the disease eventually kicking in sooner or later. Because T1 diabetes is an immune response to the pancreatic cells that produce insulin, this may also occur with the Chinese insulin producing cells. But the good side is that these engineered cells come from the the patient own blood cells. Let's wait and see... but hope for diabetic seems to be coming from the east where they may be more inclined toward the well being of their people...

Were you also irked by the lack of specific details about e.g. 1. What the therapy is called 2. Research citation 3. Estimated costs 4. How long the treatment lasts 5. What's the rejection rate for the treatment 6. What does rejection look like 7. Does it have any other side effect and what's the percent chance of that occurring 8. Are the regenerated cells as good as the original ones or is a controlled diet required to help the possibly genetically degraded with age generated pancreatic cells 9. Other possibly obvious stuff that I'm missing

@@AxionSmurf @AxionSmurf I was not aiming at writing a review paper in this post. A few are already published if you are interested to look into it. Insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes is not due to the lack of insulin producing cells but rather caused by a metabolic disorder linked to the liver as far as I understand it. Adding more insulin producing cells would help but would not solve the root causes i.e diet, exercise etc... Mechanical pancreas, insulin pumps and constant blood sugar monitor combined with insulin dispense according to measured blood sugar levels are the most promising approaches to date for T1 diabetes. Supplies are just too costly here in the US. They have published papers on these cell therapies. Check it out!

With medication I managed to bring it down over the months.
The doctor gradually reduced my Glipicide from 10 mgm a day to 2.5 mgm and finally, at my request, stopped medication entirely.
The whole process took 9 months.
My A1c now hovers between 5.2 to 5.5.
My exercise routine consists of HIIT, Cardio, Strength building 3 times a week. (90 minutes each time)
By the way I am 82 years old, so I always wear a heart rate monitor during exercise.
Keeping between 80 to 110% of my maximum heart rate based on 220 minus your age.

This protocol doesn't work and that's why there is no cited information. This method is not new and has been used for years in research. Since type I diabetes is an autoimmune disease the new cells are eventually attacked and destroyed by the immune system. This offers temporary benefits at best.

This is exciting news! Especially for people who are Type 1 diabetics where as the cure for type 2 diabetics has always been to switch to a healthy lifestyle and lose a huge significant amount of weight that will match your healthy BMI. I hope China shares this cure with the rest of the world so we can finally end the suffering of Diabetes
