  • A water booster pump helps increase the pressure and volume of water that flows from your faucet or shower head. Low water pressure can make simple tasks like bathing or brushing your teeth a hassle, but a booster pump could be the perfect solution.

Second they are complaining that every time they turn on a fixture the pump kicks on. Can I add a storage tank to your booster pump and could you post a diagram on the proper installation of the auxiliary storage tank . • @PandoraPX4B
      @PandoraPX4B Před 4 lety

      If the water pipes are old or if new with improperly installed fittings, yes it is possible for a leak. Piping should typically easily be able to handle up to 100psi but your fixtures may be limited as to the pressure they can handle. A quality booster pump will have a regulator to control the discharge pressure and limit it to what ever you set it to. For example, you may want 75-80 psi where you need to irrigate lawns or use pressure washers (note irrigation systems can be designed to accommodate lower pressures). If you are lucky enough to have your exterior hose bibbs installed upstream of the rest of your fixtures, you can install a pressure regulator to limit the water pressure to your household fixtures. For example, if the booster pump puts out 80 psig, you would have a downstream regulator to limit the pressure to the fixtures at 60 psig.

      Is the pressure pump activated when a water fitting is turned on or is it permanently pumping

    • @PandoraPX4B
      @PandoraPX4B Před 4 lety +2

      Egesi Edward As long as the booster pump comes complete with a pressure switch, the pressure switch will monitor when the water pressure drops below a certain set value. When it drops below this value, the pump will turn on. If the pressure exceeds an upper value, it will turn off. The upper value is set to prevent over pressurizing the system and potentially damaging plumbing fixtures. Booster pumps are available without pressure switches or pressure tanks. Ideally you want a pressure pump that, at least, comes with the pressure switch built in. These can be purchased separately, however.

    As far as I know, sucking water out of municipal water network - as you potentially do if you connect the booster pump directly to the incoming water line - is forbidden for a good reason. I haven’t heard anything about this from your presentation.
    Usually you have to have a ground tank to separate the pump from the municipal network. Are there any other proper options?

      @@randybrown1922 you install a T fitting right before the flex Inlet for the pump, install a shutoff valve on the new run of pipe. Run this new pipe past your pump to the end of the outlet pump flex line. Add another T fitting just as you did by the inlet, with a shutoff valve. That way if pump fails, you can turn off flow to it, and reroute the water around it.

    • @Hyper_DX
      @Hyper_DX Před 2 měsíci

      Its the same. The difference is that your going to replace that automatic sensing device that he mentioned with the pressure tank and an pressure sensing device. I believe the goal of the pressure tank is to give the pump a rest time. As its not running consistently like when you have the automatic water sensing device. So once it reaches the desired pressure in the pressure tank its shuts off and when the pressure drops below that that it starts again

    A question for the Experts: Our Apartment has a booster installed which is set to operate between 1.8 and 2.5 bars. Since a while , we have an unstable pressure / temperature which changes every 10 seconds cycle. Would it be fair to say that there a problem with the booster (EG Fan blades not running stable) ? The Management office finds this normal. We don't.

    • @WillieStubbs
      @WillieStubbs Před 2 lety

      Sounds like the apartment complex added some more tenants and the water supply can't keep up with the demand. They probably don't have enough pressure tanks. I'm on a well share with 6 other families. We initially had 3 big booster tanks and the booster pump ran too much to keep up. Our well guy recommended one tank per household. The system ran much better since we upgraded. When property sold we required the new owners to buy 1 new tank. Didn't take much over a year and we had all the tanks we needed.

    How is this different than using a MUCH cheaper shallow well pump?

    • @PandoraPX4B
      @PandoraPX4B Před 4 lety

      It’s difficult to see exactly. It could be the materials of construction, or that it may not develop the same head pressure. Some booster pumps are far more sophisticated than the simple on off shallow well pumps. For example, the well pump may just come on and increase pressure until it hits its limit so you may have varying pressure during the use of the water. However some booster pumps can actually control the water pressure to maintain it at a certain level with varying water usage. That’s not to say that a simple shallow well pump won’t meet your needs, it is just that you may have varying water pressure when it kicks in.
