I’m getting a countertop RO. It’s just about 30$ difference adding the UV to it. I live in a city and I don’t think bacteria is an issue, but for the $30 price would it be worth it getting with UV protection? Any negative that could out of the UV? Like radiation etc?

1. Will a salt-free water conditioner continue to make my skin feel dry due to leaving the minerals in the water? 2. Will a water softener also strip away existing scale build-up like a salt-free water conditioner does? I'm positive my 28-year-old house has scale build-up in all of the pipes. We have pH 6 water. The water first goes through aeration, into an aeration tank, then into a backwash calcite filter. The calcite filter traps the iron which gets flushed during backwash. It appears the upflow calcite tank would not be suitable for my application.

Whats separating the brine tank from the potable water line? Shouldnt there be an air gap on the feed line to the resin tank?

Some comments: You point out that waste water is an environmental concern, but miss the extreme wastefulness of quick replace cartridges having a big plastic housing that is one time use. Glad you pointed out the (ridiculous!) extra costs of the proprietary filters...I am dealing with that with my Whirlpool, and they have gotten so expensive that I am throwing the system out and starting over!!!!

Twenty years ago, I started with a Watts R/O system. After measuring the amount of waste water produced, I added a permeate pump which Watts sold as a kit. It has worked well for years, pumping the waste water into our hot water system for use. Recently, the old R/O system wore out, and I replaced it with a Watts system with permeate pump included. After a few weeks, it has been working fine, with no water waste either. We live in S. Cal., where water is expensive and not to be wasted...

Yeah the standard cartridges are much cheaper and easy to acquire but have you ever seen one filter housing blowout cracked from being aged I'm having to replace o-rings or lubricate o-rings with the proprietary cartridge you get all new filter media and the housing and new o-rings on the cartridge so every year you're replacing the parts that stress. You're sacrificing quality with the permeate pump. You're getting TDS creep in the storage tank. So that's a trade-off. I'm not going to say the name of the white one on the left but I have used that unit for 30 years it is the most dependable reverse osmosis system I have ever seen in 30 years and still today is an icon of quality. Now the price we can definitely argue about

So this will run whenever someone opens a faucet. It's not like a pump with a pressure tank where the system will pressurize and the pump only will run once the pressure drops below a certain threshold.

Mine was a bit different. The filter is horizontal. I didn't realize how hard you have to press on it to get it in, so when it clicked, I closed it up, turned the water on and it exploded inside my fridge 😔

The issue is with distilled water which will move into the cell through osmosis, causing the cell to swell and potentially burst due to the influx of water. The ideal water is one that is close to the chracteristics of the water in your body?

sir my Osmosis system 1 year old but I still replaced all 5 filters and I replaced the tank new tank came with 7 psi and after I left 4 , 5 hours tank get full I check the pressure was only 14 psi is that okay? and I wanted one of your videos to replace hoses from 1/4 to 3/5 so I replaced hose from tank to filter to 3/8 since then I feel tank is not getting full and water flow from faucet still same not strong what should I do I am thinking to replace the tank to a bigger tank mine now is T32M 3.2 gallon replace to T55M 5.5 gallon what your thoughts
