    Great video. I have a 2010 Sierra long bed, and it doesn't have any cameras. I am looking for a camera system, and I like this one so far. But I would like to have one with more than 2 cameras, as I'd like to have different angles, especially when I am hooking up a trailer. But then again, now that I think about it, I may be able to mount the camera high on the tail gate and angle it down in a manner to which I can see what is behind me and still get the edge of the bumper/hitch.

    How did you tap into the acc relay to get 12v ignition power? Did you use any piggyback adapter? Or just insert the red bare wire and put the relay back in? Thanks.

    Do you have any advance instructions on pairing with an extra camera from a previous set up ? I bought mine 8 months ago. Love it . The monitor pixels started acting up and couldn’t see at night . I contacted auto vox and I told him I only need the monitor . They sent me another complete system . I installed the new monitor only and it did not work . I had to swap the old camera with the new camera as well . Now I have a good camera that I want to use for the front but it will not link/program . How can I un program my old one ?

    Thanks for the video, you got me excited about this model. At 10:20, you mentioned running the power wire to a switch 12 v power so that the camera is not always on. However, at the end of the video, it seems like the front camera is always on even after using a stitch 12 v part. What do you need to do so that you can turn the front camera on only when needed? I know you can switch back and forth between the cameras but that's not what I mean by the camera being on. Hope that makes sense.

      Maybe you won’t see thus as your comment is from a year ago but a solution for that is to connect the camera wires to a power source you already control in your car. This could be your headlights. I have one camera connected to reverse lights so it only turns on when I put the car in reverse. The same would happen if you connect the wires to the headlights and turn them on or off whenever you want. This method does not drain your battery or stay on after you turn lights off as you are controlling the camera power at the same time you control your headlights.

    Another great idea! I just think it's a bit too much in your way space wise! I did ask this question before any way possible that you could hook up a dvr camera like you did in the back with the T-tab option in the front windshield area from the top portion so you don't have to use long cable!? I hope you understand what im trying to ask. If its possible that would be an awesome way of doing it. Keep up the good work my friend.

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  Před 3 lety +1

      I am guessing you are asking about mounting the front camera inside the vehicle at the top of the windshield. If that's the case, then yes you can mount this camera inside the car behind the windshield but this will not give you a view that helps with parking since you won't see what's directly in front of the bumper. Also this is not a dashcam, so it does not record. It's strictly a camera monitor system. You will still need to wire the camera power wire to ignition 12 vwhich you can tap in the fuse box.

      @N-I-N-OS Před 3 lety

      @@dial2fast thank you for your reply! I am actually talking about a dash cam configuration in the same way we'll sort of wiring you did in the back for this camera you reviewed in this video! I have always wondered with your wiring skills is it possible to take the power from the mid top light by the windshield/rearview mirror to cross wire it from there to power on a dash camera? ps sorry for the confusion about my actual question.

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  Před 3 lety +1

      @@N-I-N-OS I don't recommend tapping power off the interior light or rearview mirror power wire. The interior light will have constant power and with many modern cars, that power will shut off after a period of time (to prevent battery drain). Dashcams need a reliable ignition 12v power that is able to supply enough current to power the dashcam. Rearview mirror power wire is also not a good choice because it's constant 12V, and the wires used are typically 20-24 AWG with is very low current handling. Tapping off that to power a dashcam can result in possible operation issue or damaging the dashcam. When it comes to installing car accessories, one must consider reliability over convenience.

      @@dial2fast wow! thank you for the whole explanation! I wondered if it was possible that would made the connection shorter, and simpler! Unfortunately, with you explanation it won't be possible. Either way thank you a bunch for all you do! Maybe, there will be something in the near future that will be similar to what i want that won't interfere with other components of the car. I just hate the long cables that connect to the dash cam. There should be a simpler way of powering it! Thank you once more! Cheers from Iowa!

      @@_multiverse_ @Sam lol you obviously don't know what kind of true wireless tech is out there nowadays in 2021. I have a auto dash cam that is true wireless. The main camera unit is mounted in the front windshield with a 3x6 inch solar backing that faces outwards. The rear facing cam also mounts on the inside rear window with a 4x4 solar backing. You have the option to either store all data locally in each device or you can make it so that the rear unit feeds the video to the front unit wirelessly. This sharing mode can be used for live viewing while you drive so that you can see what's happening behind you. Battery capacity is big enough that if charged on a sunny day it's enough to keep both cams on and recording all day and night. So to answer your question yes you can get power out of thin air....

      @@_multiverse_ @Sam lol funny you said all this. I've had this system in my car for 8 months now and it's still functioning like new. And yes mine can be easily removed. I did mention that this system is "true wireless" so because it has no cables at all you simply slide it upwards and out of its mounting bracket that's stuck to the window. This allows me to store it out of sight or take it with me if I ever have to for whatever reason. I guess that makes it a high quality camera as defined by yourself. Your not talking to a guy that is basing stuff out of a CZcams video or something I've seen online. I own this system dude you can't argue with that. I know what I have and what it's capable of. And by the way il take the comment you said about the batteries dying within a year as a tip. Like I said mine is still operating like new but maybe il be more cautious about sun exposure. After all it can be easily removed and tossed in my glove compartment when I park my car. I've actually never heard of heat affecting lithium batteries. I've always left electronics in my hot car and I've never had issues with the batteries dying on them because of that.
