I just installed an Auto Vox CS2 camera on the rear licence plate of my 2017 Ford Transit Connect. I first attached the camera to the licence plate, then I removed the licence plate light, then I used a file to make the corner of the light opening slightly bigger to accommodate the camera cable, ran the camera cable through, then reinstalled the licence plate light. (I think that I will put some silicone around this light now just to make sure to keep water out)....I then removed the left rear lighting unit (4 screws) to get at the reverse light. All of the wires into the rear lighting unit were black, no colours at all. So I used a multimeter to find out which wire running to the reverse light was ground and which was 12v DC. .....I then ran the camera cable back through the door and into the conduit running into the van. I then had to run the camera cable (black and red wires) out through the rubber seal into the rear lighting unit. I had to drill a tiny hole in the rubber seal to do this. Once I had the red and black camera cables ran as far as the reversing light I attached the red camera wire to the 12v wire going into the reversing light, I then attached the black camera wire to the ground wire going into the reversing light. The Auto Vox CS2 provides you with 2 little wire taps for connecting the wires. With a second person and all the tools ready to go it took about half an hour. But It took me a lot of time online to figure all this out before hand, so I hope this can be of help to anyone trying to do this in the future. P.s. camera works just great.

In the red zone I'm 2" from whatever it is. Working from my reverse light which is a dash controlled fog lamp bolt to the roof at the back I've no power steering so can't just palm steer whilst looking back. Anyway it's often steamed right up so I can't see fa backwards at all. The only issue I think I might get is grime on the camera lens ,all the road shit goes straight up the back. Could sort a relay to flick a lens cover away. We'll see.

I'd be working on a different way to mount that screen as the suction cup thingys are useless in the hot sun...they pop with great regularity. Personally I wouldn't buy one of these. I have two cars...one has a built-in reverse screen and camera, the other doesn't. I'm an old fart so despite the screen being there I still automatically use my mirrors... You should have jumped out and taken video of how close you were parked :-) A good application for this device would be in a van. Agree about the delay needed for moving forward but you could just wire it to 12v from ignition rather than the reverse light wire, so it stays on all the time.
Hopefully all the units are paired differently. Don't want to find another driver next to you has the same device and you end up crashing your car.

The problem's that you void your insurance by hardwiring anything which isn't original to the car. That's why I used to place the camera on rear windscreen, stick the monitor with blu tack only, and use cigarette plug to power both the camera and monitor. The camera and monitor would be on all the time but it's legal at least.

Front and rear cameras would be a better option with separate (in line fuse) direct power switch (up for front view, centre is off, down for rear view) so you can toggle between viewing depending on the parking scenario instead of sourcing power from the reverse light feed. I am installing this configuration to a single monitor specifically to cover all options independent of dash cam. Slightly more wiring but worth the extra effort. I drive a BMW 7 series but the parking sensors are crap so I disabled the PDC module (so no nag screen notifications) and opted for my own configuration. I also chose not to attach to the windscreen for the same reason of the monitor falling off problem and chose a fixed position instead. I may upload a video showing the set up and benefits.
Good video you did to help diyers get started 👍👍👍👍👍
Ps. I noticed the satnav thief comments, with the right size monitor you can position in the pull down visor area so the screen is not on display when not in use, personal choice.

@@c7uk nope. Maybe I wanted to say "the lack of the mirror effect". I'm not sure how to describe it, but when you use the mirror, you're sure what the car will do when whatever you do. With this, I'd constantly be fighting the urge to do what my instinct tells me to do. Weird.

Uluç Özcan - I think I know what you’re getting at: when you look in a mirror you know it’s a mirror; when you look at a screen your brain tells you it’s not a true reflection as the angles don’t compute. There’s a disconnect between what you see and what you think you should see

@@c7uk true that. It may be a psychological thing (motor learning stuff). For instance, I have always used the brake with my right foot and "my foot" knows how much to press to comfortably stop; and not "my brain". When you try to brake with your left foot for a red light, all hell breaks loose.

many faults It NOT bluetooth, Driving with your phone in your hand, all that smoke coming out of the car exhaust. I guess the suction cup is not working as you need Clean Glass for it to stick and looking at the car well :(

@@ndavies5968 Very true, when they first came out, they were selling £250++, but now you can pick up a sat Nav for £50. Not worth stealing. Also... Nowadays.. people just use thier phone...I use my phone and Waze app. Waze is differently the best map app for me, so much better than sat Nav

2:32 "for some reason it's fallen off"... because it's a pos... wireless reverse camera should have no wires whatsoever maybe except power wiring to the cars cabling... it's a standart car camera with a external screen. get a decent stereo that has rear camera which all cabling is hidden instead of the bulky system, even better get the car built in with it... My car has all the cameras and the sensors which i've yet relied on. Safetywise rear view cameras and all that sensor means the driver has no sensory awareness and shouldn't be driving..
