Imagine me as a swede moving to the US. The shoes inside horrified me and still does to this day, nobody can enter my home with them on unless they're plumbers or something like that. Also the tap water being contaminated and tasting horrible was difficult, i used to buy purified water in plastic bottles but i stopped after i installed a filter on my faucet. Its ridiculous people have to filter their water when the water companies already should do that.
You do realize that most countries outside of Europe do not have drinkable tap water? Well, I guess unless you boil it first. I think when people from Europe arrive in the US expecting to basically see Europe but they get Southeast Asia and somehow that’s worse 🤷
Although going barefoot indoors is considered cleaner, the truth is walking barefoot leads to a ringworm infection leaving large round pits on the soles of the feet. My boyfriend Mats and I change into socks when we go inside. The socks are changed daily
In US many or most homes have thick soft wall to wall carpets. Very rare in Sweden with wall to wall carpets nowadays. And the living room is directly when you enter the main door. And the coffee is so weak it looks like tea. But when I and a friend visited US 1997 we met a couple who actually drank black coffee like in Sweden. And they drove a Volvo! So there are some exceptions from the common.
I live in America ✨ I feel so unculturedddddddddd yet I still take my shoes off when I get insideeeeeee maybe that’s one tradition my family did keep from swee dennnnnnn
in sweden (or at least the part i live in) we dont have shoes on inside, i guess you do that in southern sweden where it is not much snow at all unlike where i live where its snow half the year and you cant wear shoes inside then
It is a Swedish practice as well. Except here in Sweden, we even have "indoors shoes." It is not uncommon to bring your indoors shoes with you when visiting someone's home. (Although, this practice may possibly be more common among the older generation.)

Den är för stor och det finns för stor mångfald av kultur i USA för att vara mer som Sverige
