Completely agree on the bicycling. We live in the center of Malmö (saw our building on your 5k!) and a bike is the most practical transport for everything in town. We clock a lot of kilometers. In the US when there were bikes they were mostly e-bikes.
We did just get a car but that is just for trips outside town. It’s great having one but we use it only a few times a week at most, unlike every day in the States.
Also the gyms here are great! We are members of a 24 hour one and it’s all automated.

    That was impressive, well done.
Here in Norrköping we have something similar, called the boys' half (grabbhalvan på svenska), half a 10 km, in other words 5 km.
Running has never been my thing, but since we have 2 dogs, there will be long forest walks.

In Uppsala we have running events like the "Maja Gräddnos-loppet" and I've heard that Stockholm have the imaginatively named "Stockholm Marathon".
I wonder if they have any bike competitions other than "hit-the-retired turkey shoot" around Hornstull.

If you plan to run those 5K´s on an regular basis. You should run longer stretches every now and then so you build up some stamina. Like 8 km (to begin with). AND NO RUSH! After you could handle a stretch like that in a slow pace you could go back to run 5 km and work on your speed. Running should be fun. And welcome to the club, riding a bike whereever you plan to go. Havent bother buying a car, never needed one. It takes me everywhere i like to go. I really do like to listen to your optimism and willing to try new things.

I used to run 5k quite often as a teenager, but that's a very long time ago, and I also always cycled a 10k when I came home from school. Nowadays I do way too little to stay healthy, but I cycle quite a lot. And I actually cycled Vätternrundan (315 k, I probably finished last, I rode slowly and it took forever) for the second time this year, last time I did it was 29 years ago!
And if you ever want to impress all Swedes with your amazing fitness, try the Swedish classic. It's collection of four long distance races in various sports that you must do all in one year. They are Vasaloppet (90 k cross-country skiing), Stockholm Marathon OR Lidingöloppet (a 30k very hilly terrain run), Vätternrundan 315, and Vansbrosimmet (3k swimming in a pretty cold river). I personally have no desire to do the classic, except that I might try Vansbrosimmet some year. Oh, and before you try the classic, there is also "Damklassikern", the ladies classic, with shortened womens versions of the four races. But lots of women do the full classic too.
Anyway, seems like you got yourself a bunch of good habits there!

I remember as my last school year in vaccational school in 1998 we had to run 5k. I was training for it long time, but when was time to run it i had common flue and i felt like crap and couldn´t run even a half way. I walked the rest. I was so disappointed.
For heath, i started ketogenic lifestyle and ditched carbs from my diet. In three montha i dropped 12 kg (24,26 lbs) of weight and my blood sugar A1c dropped from 8,5 to 4,8. Still continuing, but havent got to scale for a while and don´t have my own mesurment device so i don´t know exact current situation.
I also got bike last fall and i should fix front wheel becouse it´s flat at the moment. It would be nice to get biking again.

Kimberly ! You are a natural in front of the camera, very good, natural ! As for me, being a 74 year grumpy auld man, living in Karlstad. I jogwalk ca three km every other day, living in the outskirts of Karlstad, so I can, and do, jogwalk around a channel and a small lake ( sw- tjärn) Although I always stop when I meet someone I know, since I have lived in this area since 1952, so I know some pipl, haha....So basically, my run is an intervall run, which is even better than puffing the entire length.....As for bicycles, I have a few and since I still work some hours, almost every day, I take the bike to town. I have two motorcycles, but non of them works, haha....So I am still under 80 kg.....And I feel less grumpy watching yer vids.....allda best from Mikke in Karlstad...

Well Done, it’s to overdo it ‘cause for all support You get along the way. At least I did. I had decided to run/jog about 500 m and walk the rest. I Haden’s train before. But the competitive nature I am it didn’t work. I ran 4 500 and walk the rest with result of inflamed knee that needed injection with anti inflammatory medication. So I learned my lesson. Don’t participate if I haven’t done the “work” before. Good that You didn’t do that.

Think about that every time you get tiread or get "quitting" thoughts in your head :) And a extra tip is to have a stone in your hand that you can squeeze when or if you get stomac stitches or how you say it in English =) Håll on Swedish =)

    Hi Kimberly!
Perhaps this input is not really relevant, but staying healty could also be to spend time in the nature...
One great difference between US and Sweden is that anyone can go anywhere, except areas around living houses. So private forests, lands are available for anyone. Picking berries and mushrooms are also allowed, as is camping a night ( or two). This tradition is called All Mans Law, allemans lagen in swedish. I assume you already are familiar with this tradition, and maybe already mentioned it in one of your videos. If so, I apologize....
Anyway, thanx for your nice videos, and keep up doing them....;-D
