Hi - we do not "hate"! I don't know who "schooled" you about Swedish gun laws, but. 1: - You can only own weapons if you have a license, e.g. hunting license (jägarexamen) or if you are a competition shooter signed to a 'club'. A hunting license is obtained after training and having passed a comprehensive theoretical test and passed a shooting test. You are also obliged to prove that you own an approved gun safe. You must also not have been convicted of a 'violent' crime in the last five years. In Sweden, which is quite gun-dense, there are 31.6 firearms per 100 inhabitants, in the USA the corresponding figure is 89 per 100 inhabitants. "Hate" is untypically Swedish and far too strong. 2: - On reasonable grounds, we Swedes (in general) dislike your abortion laws on the way. How you ignore the responsibility of the "father" and believe that you are appointed by God. We wonder why the child is only "sacred" in the womb. Not when they are separated from their parents and detained as you did with refugee children on the Mexican border, for example. 3: - The 'general health insurance' is self-evident in Sweden and does not need to be commented on. All studies show that, even if the tax seems high in Sweden, it is more expensive for the "American" who can afford to insure than to pay taxes in Sweden. I myself have undergone an eye operation, two back operations plus an operation in the elbow to get function in the fingers of the hand. The last one when I was 70 years old. In total, it has cost me 2000 SEK (200 USD). In addition, my wife has given birth to five children, three of them by caesarean section. Expensive? A total of 3000 SEK (300 USD) and we could be together in the hospital, day and night.. Moreover! If someone would even try to charge for the child to lie against/on the mother's body...? Just bizarre (and I cut the umbilical cord). The mother was allowed to stay until she was rested and I was allowed to stay with her the whole time at no extra cost. 4: - The US seems to be built around the car. Sweden would need better public transport in the countryside, but in the bigger cities you don't need a car. Nevertheless, the Swede is quite lazy and drives a car anyway. Which may be necessary after all. Above all, it will be cheaper if you are a family that has to move longer distances. 5: - Do not misunderstand me. Sweden is (in principle) a mini-USA, though secularized. And we don't swear allegiance to the flag. Sweden is 'different' from most western countries, for better or for worse. You express it very well how We understand your ignorance other countries. But, to be honest, ignorance exists everywhere, including in Sweden. BUT! Sometimes it gets a little funny when you can't even find your own country on the world map. Finally: We don't "hate" anything about the USA! We think differently. Maybe it's us who are ignorant? Who knows in a hundred years? P.S. Something I myself do not appreciate about the US is that I am expected to compensate rudely low wages with tips! I feel uncomfortable every time I'm there. It feels like I "look down" on those who serve me. As if I gave money to a beggar. If interested? Then compare working conditions and wages between employees MC Donalds Sweden/USA. Compare holidays, and all other conditions. There you will find the big difference in how we value people. BUT! We do not "hate" D. S. P.P.S. You can not reach me..., answer ;)

One thing I must say I object to is American food in schools. Our daughter´s class had contact with a class i West Virginia. Among other things they made a movie presentation of their respective schools. When they showed their lunch hall the food consisted of what you would find i a hamburger joint or a Las Vegas style buffet. I find it hard to see the reason for having pizza, burgers, mac ´n cheese, soft drinks etc on a daily basis. It´s the kind of foods most here have on weekends but not so often weekdays. It´s a bit strange to us.

      @Sam1D28 Před měsícem

Doesn't have to be during the summer! But 3 weeks in a row sometime during the year is mandatory. My mom, for example, always takes 3 weeks in December because she prefers Christmas time over summer.
But yeah, 3 weeks during December can be denied IF the employer can give 3 weeks sometime else during the year that works for the employee.
My mom works in health care, so she obviously can't always get her semester/holidays during Christmas.

According to the Holiday Act, you have the right to take 4 weeks of holiday during the period June to August. It is the so-called main holiday period. The employer can therefore only refuse or move your vacation as long as you get 4 weeks off (of which 3 must be consecutive) during the summer.
This means that it is the employee who owns the right to vacation during the summer. It is therefore the employee who decides whether they want to move their holiday to another time of the year.
      Source Semesterlagen
      Edit
My wife works at management level at one of the big hospitals in Stockholm and she is working on staff planing over the summer due to al the vaccinations that ppl have the right to take.

@pauleriksson3147 yeah exactly, my mom is the employee. She doesn't want to have her holidays during the summer. She wants it during December. But if she can't get it during December, the employer still needs to give her 3 weeks in a row another time of the year. Since my mom still doesn't want it during the summer, they need to find another time during the year where she can get 3 weeks off in a row.

    • @pauleriksson3147
      @pauleriksson3147 Před měsícem

      @@Sam1D28
      It’s not exactly.
The law gives the employee the rights during the summer. If you void your right during the summer the employer can ( by law ) deny your vacation in total during the rest of the year up to 5 years before the must pay in money if they don’t give you leave.
This has happened and is tried in court (Arbetsmiljödomstolen).
So in your mother’s case they can deny the holiday she has moved to Christmas within the law even if they first have approved it.
The law is crystal clear during the summer months you as an employee have rights. Rest of the year the employer owns the right in total.
However in different “kollektivavtal” you can get other perks ( but never lower the the law)
In the “kollektivavtal” that your mom is working under. It says that she have the right to take 3 holiday leaves during the year as long as they given a months heads up ( it can be 2 l am unsure )
So lest say your mom takes a week after new year. Then a week during summer than a “klämdag” during let’s say Easter.
Then they can deny and even revoke her holiday during Christmas.
It’s important in feeds like this to be clear about what the law given rights and other perks.
In my kollektivavtal if i viod my summer holiday the employer must give me a vacation during that year however if we can’t find a agreement the employer decides when that 4 weeks must be given before the end of the years.
This means that l always takes classic “industry semester” during the summer.

There is a misconception about european healthcare public insurance. It´s not a "human right". As an individual in this system there is a thought of redistribution of cost during your lifespan. Usually you need a lot of health care as a child and when elderly. Inbetween you usually use less heathcare, and work a lot and pay more taxes.

My #1 is the global surveillance performed by the US government. The work of KGB and Stasi was a breeze by comparison.
Americans are allowed to do more, but what they do is logged and stored for future reference.
My #2 would be the legal system as a whole.
First the fanatic belief in the constitution as carved in stone. Older nations know that constitutions must be adapted over time.
Then I'm no fan of the Anglo-American system where a) all parties pay their own costs (preventing poor persons from winning civil cases), and b) the courts define the interpretation of laws, not those that wrote them. Essentially anything can be legal or illegal until tried in a legal court.

In Sweden you can go to a gun course, join a gun club then get your license for X gun you want to purchase. You can get all kind of guns, AR-15 and such included. I think Sweden passed 250K license a couple of years ago (2 out 100 of the Swedish population. And yes I know, 1 person can have more than one license). Now there are some simple criteria of storing said guns such as a weighted certified gun safe, if you can't even handle that you don't deserve having guns to begin with. It's easy to lose your licenses thought and from what I could gathered Americans have a weird attitude forwards guns, even among professional gun instructors. Gun owners of Sweden seems way more responsible than that of the US.

About Sweden interest in other countries. Being a small country in upper north, while having a big international business you are depending on interaction with other countries. This you can trace back to the winking time, covering an area from New Foundland in west, Sea of Aral in east, Sicily in south. I can think of a few more though...
The whole school educating thing in America...? What do Americans learn in school really?
About the world and other cultures? About them selves?
Drugs...? For example: Statistics from CDC 2016 showes 63 600 drug overdose deaths in the United States.
That is 174 humans per day or 7 people per hour.... that year.
Sadly in 2021 the number was 107,622 drug overdose deaths in the United States. That's just...😢
    The homeless situation...?
    Religion...?
    racism...?
    Riches vs poverty...?
Mass shootings...? Sadly there is a mass shooting in the US every day. Every day!?
Military...? You have a country that train elite soldiers to be the best but not
a backup system that deals with going back to society and taking care of the wounded when they
    really need it.
But most important and a really BIG issue for me...
Why the high fives all the time and all the shouting when someone does something unique?

I want to comment on a few things anyways, like the abortion laws in the US are crazy! It have to be a womans right to decide about her body& her life, so anti abortion laws are nuts!( I think a lot of laws in the states are somehow made with a christian religion"moral" base, or a biblical one!?) We don't make our laws based on religion here.. When coming to the death penalty laws it's always tricky, cause sometimes there are no other option than death if a person are a danger to society& have proven that 100%. But& there's a big butt( 🤓🙊,sry but I had to!) But then there will always be innocent people wrongfully sentenced to death by the state& that's a total nightmare scenario that NO ONE would accept if happened to them& the system is not foolproof( is that an acctual word?) I guess you understand anyways? The last but not the least thing are about Swedens health care, it's starting to cracking up. Rich pelople have much better 6options than poor to get proper healthcare! Still it's better than in the US! All this is of course MY opinions!! Thanks for this chanel & wish you all the best! ❤👏⚘😎✌

I'd say that I do not agree at all with the american system for the first four things on your list and that I feel that more americans overall would benefit of havig f ex universal healthcare and better regulated guns. They are very selfish systems and obviously spearheaded by corporations and their lobbyists as much are in USA. But "hate" is a huge overstatement, it doesn't really affect me. But might be a translation thing, maybe you can say hate in a much less severe manner in english. Public transport is good in Sweden, yes. But only in cities, in more rural areas it's basically the same as US.
I'm no expert but basically there are three ways to own a gun if you meet the prerequisites of no criminal record etc. Hunting (requires a hunting exam) as you said, sports shooting if you are part of a gun club (and you have to pass a test here as well) or a collectors licence (this last one is basically for museeums and very rare special cases). We actually do have alot of guns here, not as in the state obviously but I think only Switzerland have more guns than USA per capita. But I believe around a third of the Swedish population have guns. It is just highly regulated and harder for kids or criminals to get one.
Also how you store them is also highly regulated so we don't have many cases of accidental fire or killing a spouse or neighbour in a spur of the moment anger thing etc since the gun and ammo and sometimes the pin are stored seperately so there are many steps to using that gun. No ready to fire gun in your pants or under your pillow for most gun owners.
Some criminals get them anyway ofc but they pay a premium and therefore usually are more selective when using them. Most of our shootings are criminals shooting other criminal rivals. Using them for "low value" targets like robbing someone or such is much less common as the cost if they get caught with one is not worth it. The gun is worth more on the black market than what they'd probaby get from robbing a regular person.
When ever a gun is involved it's like kicking the hornets nest but the hornets are police. It is not common like in the states where police more often than not expect a criminal to be armed. And shooting at an officer with one is like sticking your head in the hornets nest. Criminals know this and try to keep under the radar unless the target is really worth the risk. Not many police officers have been shot or shot at in Sweden over the years really.
As for the last thing I think it has to do with a very low percentage of american that actually have any experience of travel outside US states. Many americans consider a few towns over or the next state to be a vacation.
The reason for this in many cases I think is at least partly due to inability to get enough time off from work or financially for a longer trip to another country. You generally don't get 5 weeks of fully paid vacation in USA. And then there is school, probably varies from state to state and school to school but my friends from Phoenix basically said that history lessons aside from jesus started from the american civil war forward and focused on USA only. Nothing about Saxons, Vikings, Persians, Chinese dynasties etc. So they generally have no input on other countries except of what they hear from the very biased republican or democratic news channels that obviously try their best to indoctrinate americans into their own ideology.

    • @charlesmartin1121

You claim Americans are ignorant of other countries, you are really ignorant about America. Oh and the main reason Americans don't travel abroad as much as Europeans, is because America is huge. Let me provide an insight. Most Americans have criticisms of what our country has become. The infatuation with guns--honestly cannot explain it but it is there to provide citizens with a modest tool against govt tyranny. Don't think for a second that govt does not go after people--big fish & little fish. Govts are not beneficent. The violent culture is due mostly to drug turf wars & the fact that our govt continues to divide us up by tribe. But you're right, in a country which supposedly values life, guns are only designed to murder. Abortion--never was a federal law; it was a federal court decision. Best left up to the states because states have their own cultures on the issue. That is the best they can do. In strict states, it would doctors that pay the price; they would not go after women. Reason: remember the scene in all the Jesus movies with Mary Magdalene. He did not condemn her. Transportation: yes many of us have too much an infatuation with cars. Well you don't live in your car. There are too many cars in cities. The American diet. Agreeably, our cultural habits hear lead to much bad disease & we just can't be honest about it. When they try to teach they view this as an attack on freedom. Health care is a common complaint but in a country as ill as ours & so populated, no govt system would look out for everybody. We have too many diseases & injuries. That cost money. In competition with other budget items, people may be tempted to think that the govt would look to take care of its people. Don't develop that dependency. Look out for oneself. But we should be more proactive in our culture to see if we can develop habits that don't promote disease or injury & that requires an insight to infection, injuries on the job or athletic field, overuse injuries from poor ergonomics, mental health, drugs & the border, genetics, diet, environmental. We are no where there. I think many Americans desire that our workplaces be less toxic & less busy & incorporate more leisure time like Europe does. This would lend itself positively to mental health, give people more time to spend with their kids, & just plain old become well-rounded. We should not measure work production by quantity.

The car dependency thing is actually an urban density thing. Many American cities are hardly cities, they're more like endless carpets of single-family houses, with some malls thrown in here and there. Ok, there may be a skyscraper or two in the middle, but that changes very little. They may be cities, but they still have very low population density. Which makes all distances very long, so you can't really walk to any place worth going to. Also, it means that very few people will hop on or off the bus at each bus stop. And the thing that makes good public transportation possible is lots of passengers per stop. This all means more people use cars, which means you need wider roads, that make distances even longer, and density even lower. Add to that huge parking lots everywhere.
In contrast, many cities in Europe existed centuries, or even millennia before cars were invented, so people had to walk wherever they were going. Which means cities were built to minimize walking distances. Narrow streets, buildings with as many floors as the technology of the time could build.Rich people lived on the lower floors to avoid the stairs. You see this particularly often in Southern Europe, where streets that are narrower than modern cars aren't uncommon. Building great public transportation here is dead easy, for this reason.
If you want to step on a few aching toes (that was a direct translation of a Swedish idiom), how about Five ways (most) Swedes are wrong about the USA? 🤣

As a Swede, I would like to add the fact that Americans when they talk about what makes the US so great is that America has freedom, and that is true for most countries. And now after the abortion law I would say that freedom is less true for the US, and I really feel sorry for all the women over there.

The USA have no freedom that that goes anywhere beyond what any person in Europe also have. The fact is that they have a lot less freedom with health care, violence on the streets, and social issues and being in constant fear of loosing their job on a whim of their boss or if they happen to be sick more than the maximum allowed number of days! The fact that they have to use social media to beg for money through "go fund me" to pay for medical procedures that is needed to stay alive says it all. Things I don't like about the U.S. 1. The water quality is really bad and fountain softdrinks is just garbage. 2. The tipping culture. 3. Cashier packing my grocieries. 4. The toilet seat is almost on the floor. 5. No showerhoses. 6. Trash everywhere. Use the bin/trashcan and clean up the streets! 7. You drive like idiots. Every car has a dent or nine.
Please make a video about what swedes like about the U.S! Here is my list after visiting the U.S. three times. (Los Angles, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Mississippi, Alabama, Orlando, Miami and New York.)
Things I like about the U.S. 1. Friendly and polite people! 2. Food is good! Even Mc Donald's taste good! However your pizza sucks. 3. Sharing food at the restaurants is actually okay. And you always get a doggybag!

Dislike: look at the streets in New York! New York is a nice city but it's dirty and I honestly wonder why the h*ll garbage bags stacks up on the sideways? That is not ok, it is disgusting!

Before I watch the video I'll post my top 5 things I hate about America as an American living in Sweden.
    1. Gun laws
    2. Healthcare system
    3. Healthy food is very expensive and unhealthy food is cheap
    4. Income taxes are not done by the government. People have to struggle to navigate that on their own.
    5. The political system (I.e. two party system & electoral college)
    Bonuses:
    A. Work environment - Employers typically treat their employees bad and there are very few laws to protect workers.
    B. The laws around what ingredients are allowed in food or cosmetics are much more lax in the U.S. compared to EU.
Excited to see how it compares to Swedes opinions 😁
    -
    Edit: after watching the video:
Totally forgot about Roe v Wade because I've been living in Sweden for 3 years so I was going based on my memory while living in the U.S. but yes I agree abortion laws are now grim in the U.S.
Oh right! Public transportation and pedestrian/bicycle access is horrible in the U.S. I couldn't go anywhere without a car in the U.S. but I've been in Sweden near Stockholm for 3 years and haven't felt any need to get a car so far 😄
Yeah the sales tax not included in the price shown is annoying. Tipping being required at a restaurant is also very annoying - just pay your workers! 😅

There is not much I hate to be honest. But somethings i dislike. Sometimes with a passion.
    1. I dont think you can just walk in and buy a gun in a shop even in the US, wasnt there a journalist trying to do that and it took months? There are alot of background checks and stuff. Now, If you wanted a Gun for criminal purposes, youd just buy one of another criminal no? The same way criminals do it in Sweden. Only money required. IF you want a gun here, you can get one. As longs as you have the money.
    2. Abortion is NOT an easy question. I really dislike how all possible nuances will be removed from any political issue in the US, and then it will just be black and white and oh so simple. On a moral philosophical the real question is when does a life start? Because once the little beeing in the stomach is alive in its own right, then it too has rights. That must be measured against the mothers rights AND, wich is always forgotten or outright denied, the fathers rights.
Swedish law makes atleast some moral sense to me, until the child can survive outside the womb, that is as long as you are allowed to make an abortion.
    3. General health insurance doesent bother me too much. I think the american people are highjacked by their corporations. Its obviously better with universal healthcare, and if the government cared more about their citizens than their corporations, this would be a non issue.
    4. Have not given it a second thought. Im happy with how it works in sweden, but you do you. Seems like lazy gouverning once again but...
    5. More than ignorant, it annoys me how tribal american people are. Its im a DEMOCRAT or a REPUBLICAN and I believe whatever story they tell me to believe, and I hate everyone that dont believe what believe. Because thats what ive been told to do. America is supposedly the most individualistic country in the world, but so many people seem so incapable of having thoughts and opinions of their own. Be braver.

And here is the non-PC truth about what swedish people and most of the world hate about the USA. It's the fact that americans are strong enough to be individualistic rather than collectivistic. That you are confident and strong and don't let other people's opinion of you discourage you from pursuing your dreams is probably what we hate most about America. You see, this creates a very strong feeling of envy in us because it forces us to face our own deep dependency on others for our own survival. We are taught from a very early age to never stick out, always trust authorities and always be dependent on others for your own emotional and physical survival - From the family, the school, the community, the institutions and the government. To seek and claim your own individuality is seen as taboo in Sweden. Since most of us are weak you are simply not assumed to have individual capabilities that would allow you to prosper on your own, independently of a group of people that in turn would be tied into a larger group of people that eventually would form the social institutions we are taught to be dependent on.
It's the fact that you seem confident and able to go your own way, do your own thing without caring too much about what "the group" thinks that drives us crazy. That you are able to pose the question: "What do I want?" rather than: "What will the group think of me if I do this?", leaves us with a feeling of powerlessness and despair that stems from a deep feeling of envy because we know we are too programmed, too conditioned and too weak to ever be able to have the same freedom.

Theres a tremendous lack of teachers in math and science over here in sweden, so it wont be hard to find a teaching job in those fields here. The farther from Stockholm, Göteborg and Malmö you get, the more jobs you'll find.
You do of course need the language, as well as some teachers education.
I would recomend you talk to a swedish student consult (studievägledare) at the university you're at while in sweden. They will tell you all you need to know about how to qualify as a teacher in sweden. If you already know which University you going to, you proberbly can start an e-mail conversation with that person right away.
Also: I would suggest you talk to some schools while in sweden. Due to the nationwide lack of teachers many schools proberbly will be ok to hire you as a temp. teacher for a while, while you study swedish, in order to hire you as a real teacher once your done with your studies.
Edit: As a reference, I work as a teacher in science and quit my old job to get a new one with much higher pay.
This was three years ago and my old job still havent found a replacement for me and asks me to come back...

A lot of these are things we wouldn't like if we were living in USA. I think the things that affect us more are things like:
    - The United States trying to force Europe to make it legal to not label genetically modified foods and wants us to import US foods that are deemed unsafe to eat here.
    - The United States acting like a world police (which is a bit ironic because we have often butted in and tried to mediate in international hotspots ourselves).
    - The United States poor record and ambition on climate change.
I think the word "hate" is inappropriate though.. dislike? sure.
