Felix's reactions are actually really common, there's multiple studies that say the closer something looks like a real human, the more creepy the brain thinks it is, because it knows it's not alive. So it turns to aggression because we just wanna destroy it lol
I have a less intense reaction than Felix, when I am with another person. If left alone with a life like doll....yeah don't do that. The only dolls I have found myself with the reaction 'it's a doll' are Monster High dolls, just because they aren't ment to be life like humans. Just about every other doll I feel the need to destroy it, or close it away some where.
I understand it when you write it on paper, but when Iâm actually seeing something that uncanny, I donât ever feel like I want to destroy it, just throw it in a closet away from me. But I understand wanting to destroy it from that explanation lol

Ken is the first CZcamsr I've ever followed that was a parent himself and actually admires and loves his children. As a parent myself, I come across people far too often that hate children and talk about physically hurting them. It's just nice to watch a CZcamsr who doesn't spend his free time threatening small children.

One of my close friends in school used to make these realistic baby dolls. Once I ran into her at a craft show where she was selling homemade baby clothes and she said âhey, wanna see one of the babies Iâm working on?â And I said yes. She proceeded to pull what looked like a newborn baby, from a backpack, by the leg and everyone standing within a certain distance were absolutely horrified, and I found it absolutely hilarious

I remember there was a trend in the 80s for buying these horrible porcelain faced dolls. My mum and granma kept buying me them. Traumatized for life
The ones that still freak me out are the ones with eyes that open and close when you tilt them. I do not want to be alone in a room with those. And hell no to being around them in the dark no matter how many people are in the room.

Going to a hospital to look at babies that aren't in your family seems really creepy to me. They must be afraid that she will kidnap one.
especially because things like that have happened several times. It's sad that some women want a baby and can't have one for whatever reason, but they need help to cope, obsessing over other babies can actually lead to slippery slopes where they forget themselves so even something that is mildly "innocent" has to be taken seriously :(

Also, I've seen there's a CZcams lady that plays with her dolls daily like they're real, and she HAS real small children too. So it's just fun for some people.
Dolls can be surprisingly lucrative.
I collect resin dolls (not baby dolls) and have several friends who make a living from painting them. They come blank and then you seal them and paint them with airbrushes or soft pastels. It's like doing makeup on a smaller scale. You do skin texturing, blushing and contouring. It surprises me that she can do a whole doll in a day, but I'm slow as hell painting because I'm not a pro. All those layers take time to seal, plus re-rooting the hair and applying lashes. I guess if she really takes 15 hours it makes sense. It doesn't look like she's customising the actual sculpts, just painting and stringing them.

Okay quick story here. I worked with a girl in a Children's Hospital who was just like this, obsessed with realistic baby dolls. She'd spend $300+ on them and buy real baby clothes to dress them. She acted like they were her real children and would show me pictures of them on her phone at work. I knew something wasn't quite right about her the moment she told me she collected realistic dolls, then I found out they were realistic baby dolls and we work in a Children's Hospital, it just got too weird for me. Especially when she would show me her pictures and one time she accidentally swiped too fast and a picture of the baby's butt popped up, she swiped out of it so fast and I was so disturbed. My other coworker told me she even had her own Instagram page that she dedicated to showing off her "babies" how the hell did she get that Children's Hospital job??

As someone who used to customize dolls, Iâm bummed she didnât share her process or what paint she uses. Acrylics and model paints are a no go on rubber. Iâve yet to find paint that works as well as whatever sheâs using here.
Also both work well on vinyl kits â€ïž
Itâs usually genesis heat set paint, or you can use air dry acrylic if you dilute them with glass and tile medium and distilled water. I do a ton of doll customizing. This is vinyl but silicone dolls would need silicone paint.

for those who dont know those real looking babies are called "Reborns" they are used as a therapy item for people who cant have children, still born, miscarriage, lost a child, or the children have moved out and are feeling lonely. Its used to help them with their depression and other mental issues that may occur without medication. there are doll shows dedicated to reborns, many sellers and many customization. the woman in this video used a standard mold meaning the base features were there and simple painted more defining features as well as "moe" hair as its stronger and more durable for these dolls. they have helped many people who have suffered from all those above and are helpful to all ages
Thatâs interesting to hear, there was an old lady with realistic baby dolls like this at the nursing home my grandparents lived in, she had dementia and no one was fully sure if she believed they were real or not (or if that changed depending on how bad her dementia was that day) but she would light up if you told her any of them were a beautiful baby and even let people sometimes hold it and fuss over it as if it were real and it equally made her happy. It truly meant a lot to her and I presumed helped her with her dementia too.

I work in a nursing home for dementia patients, and many of them have baby dolls. For some reason, even the most mean patients soften when I hand them a doll and ask them to hold it for me. We even have a whole nursery on the unit with a changing station. This woman could make quite a bit of money making dolls for dementia patients, or even dolls for couples whoâve miscarried, had a still birth or lost their baby.
I've always had this uncomfortable distressing feeling around baby dolls, I think it's sort of an uncanny valley thing or something but it freaks me out

My aunt makes those kinds of realistic baby dolls. She came over to visit once (visited USA from England) and brought the one she was currently working on and I got to watch her put all the hair in, and it looked so tedious. Sheâs really good though, sheâll post pictures online on her Facebook of them and they look super realistic!

I shamefully admit that I have made these dolls before. You get the vinyl pieces and not just assemble them but the real artistry is in the painting. That's what the over was for. You do dozens of light layers of paint to make the skin as realistic as possible.

This one guy my dad made friends with at a guitar store apparently has a doll phobia. We all went to halloween horror nights. He enjoyed all the scare houses until we arrived at this hillbilly cabin in a swamp themed area with haunted dolls. He was like O.O...I'm going home now...

That was him with chucky dolls and porcelain dolls. As an awesome and totally not creepy little cousin I had a big collection of porcelain dolls to scare him with.đ

Some dolls are very realistic, and people use them as coping mechanisms. I work in airport security, and one time this lady put one of these dolls at the top of a bin before sending it off. Naturally, we panicked and had to shut down the equipment because we thought it was real. People do try to put their babies and pets through the x-ray ALL THE TIME so when we went to grab the bin and we saw the baby not moving we were panicking. And then she tells us it's "just a doll."

@@MashZ Caged pets go through manual screening with officers and owners, if they cannot be removed they go through chemical tests. Otherwise, if they are small enough to be in the cabin, they go through the metal detector with the owner
