  • In this video I overview my side pour Lukr faucets that I use to pour Czech lager the traditional way. If you are in the market for a Lukr tap, I hope this helps give you some info on how they work.

    Tanglefoot Brewing is a small Czech lager focused brewery in Temple, TX.In 2021 the brewery opened in the back of my family's BBQ restaurant that had been operating for 53 years. The restaurant has since closed and Tanglefoot has now taken over the entire space.This CZcams channel was started to document the process of opening, running and growing a small craft brewery.

    This is always something that people miss. There is so much of a beer in its foam. Nice video, Andy. Cheers!

    Wow, I'm surprised to see Czech beer so far away from home. Thanks for letting people taste our style of beer! Hope they like it.

    I hope to get one of these soon. I love the presentation of the been through these. I feel the same way about a beer engine...nothing comes close, in my opinion, of a proper pour off a beer engine.

    It's too bad American beer culture doesn't embrace foam, but it makes sense considering the prevalence of light American lager where foam usually means something's off. Have you found you need to do quite a bit of education when it comes to foam, because I'd imagine quite a bit of people besides beer nerds are annoyed by the foam?
    Not sure if you have coasters, but coaster would be an interesting place to have some factoids on Czech beer. Types of pours, faucets, flavor descriptions, etc

      @tanglefootbrewing  Před měsícem

      Ya, definitely do a lot of educating at the bar. But most everyone is super receptive.
      I do have coasters! They are specific to each beer so it gives some tasting notes 🍻

    I'll be honest, I have yet to have a Czech lager. But they always look so beautiful, but I don't know of any in my area (though I'm sure I could find some if I really dug deep) but what would be your recommendation on terrific commercial examples of some Czech lagers to be on the look out for?

    • @tanglefootbrewing
      @tanglefootbrewing  Před měsícem +1

      Commercial examples from Czech Rep. are gonna be Pilsner Urquell, Czechvar and possibly Staropramen but it depends on where you are located and what you can find. There are several Czech lagers from US breweries now but again, locally dependent. Cheers 🍻

    Thanks for this. I'm in the process of opening a restaurant we'll be pouring Czech and Japanese beer. We're psyched on the LUKR taps. Will these fit on any tower? They appear to come out further than a standard tap, did you have to adjust your drip tray?

    • @tanglefootbrewing
      @tanglefootbrewing  Před 24 dny

      Thats awesome. They do and they don't. Basically, they don't attach to the standard American shank so you have to install the line directly on to the tap(unless you buy the adapter they sell). And yes, they stick out about 7 in(more with adapter) so you will need to consider the drip tray. 🍻🍻

    Two questions. What other brands of ball valve style faucets would you recommend if you couldn't splurge on the Lukr taps? Would a DIY version be a better recommendation?

    • @tanglefootbrewing
      @tanglefootbrewing  Před měsícem +1

      The model I showed in the video seems to work well, I think it's a micro matic tap.
      I don't think a DIY would necessarily be BETTER but you could rig one up woth a stainless ball valve and an elbow piece on the end. Have considered building on just for laughs myself ha

      @@tanglefootbrewing czcams.com/video/BYudr9FAGOA/video.html - here is a wonderful famous irish poem that really gets to the core of how important a pint of plain was to that part of the world :) I'm aussie (From Bendigo - we once had more pubs per capita than anywhere in the world during the gold rush) and we have a LOT of Irish immigrants over here. Im kicking myself, a small brewery in Eau Claire Wisconsin went out of business and sold their Lukr Taps last fall. Here is from their sale of equipment page/// Lukr Czech-style Side Pull Tap
    Faucets (includes EuropeanStyle Shank) 4 $200 Each Had some great milk pours there. I miss that place. I enjoyed our explanation.
