Gatsby is lucking to have you. Too many of us don't have the resources for extended health care for our loved, furry family members, and don't have a lot of recourse when it comes to care. It's hard, but I really believe Gatsby was put on this earth to be a part of your family, and to touch so many lives. We are all on praying for both of you.

Yes , I ran out of money after 6k , was able to extend my Corgis life , I don't regret the money ....he was young , only 6 and I gave him everything I could. Ultimately he passed, but I don't think anyone feels at peace when a dog dies so young.
Ryen, my dog had high liver values and Cushing's disease. He exhibited no symptoms when he was first diagnosed with Cushing's. The 8 hour test is just blood draws and one injection. You should be able to stay there with him. Cushing's is not a death sentence, my dog lived nearly 5 years after being diagnosed with Cushing's disease, and lived to be 15 and a half. I felt so helpless when it first happened and was just as scared as you. I promise it'll be okay. I'm wishing you the best. Please remember to live in the moment with Gatsby. I spent so much time worrying the last year of my senior pup's life instead of spending good days with him.

My beloved Corgi got Cushing’s disease when she was almost 10. She lived about 2 more years and thanks to medication was acting her normal self.
My dog also has Cushing’s disease. The blood test takes long but it’s relatively easy. My dog is on Vetoryl and is doing well. Hang in there.

Hi Ryen. I don't know whether you noticed it or not whilst editing this video but, whenever you take Gatsby up, he likes you all over trying to encourage you. I think he understands that you are worried for him and he's trying to tell you that you guys can do it! Together. Whatever the result will be, he feels your concern for him and understands the efforts you are putting in to help him. So, stay strong: you have Gatsby with you, no matter what.
I was worried about my dog dying, so I went to a therapist! She taught me how to live in the present and make the most out of each day (especially in little ways), so I really got to enjoy the last year I had with Waffles. Then it was much easier to deal with his passing! Plus I had my therapist to help me cope, and I’m really proud I went to her for these issues.

I agree. I have rescue dogs and although I love them more than life I wouldnt do chemo/radiation. You spend all that money which the vets are all too happy for you to spend and tge dogs dies anyway. I suggested he enjoy Gatsby and let him just live out his life with whatever time he has left.

As a nurse who sees a lot of well… suffering, I have to say that you giving him so much love and support is literally the best thing you can give him. There are people (and other dogs) that have to go through things like this without love and support and it makes a huge difference. So Ryen, don’t be so hard on yourself and be sure to accept all of Gatsby’s kisses. And stay strong! ✨✨✨✨
My pup just passed away from cancer Saturday and the grief is so hard but I find peace in knowing I gave him lots and lots of love. I was blessed to have him in my life and I know Gatsby is blessed to have such a loving wonderful doggie parent like you likewise Gatsby has blessed your life and many of ours with joy. Praying for both of you. 🙏🏻❤️ you are doing all you can for Gatsby and I have high hopes that he’ll be okay with whatever treatment. ❤️

I work in veterinary medicine and at my clinic we do the lose dose dex suppression test all the time. I can guarantee that besides a few brief blood draws Gatsby will just be hanging out with the nurses and receiving all the love and pets that they have time to spare! Gatsby is such a good boy that the nurses will get in trouble for spending all of their time loving on him and not attending to the vets lol Cushings is totally treatable and will just mean a few extra meds and a few more visits to the vets office where he will get lots of love and attention ❤ stay strong!! The veterinary staff will make sure he’s more focused on the love he’s getting and not the little blood draws

I lost my 3rd Corgi in October at the age of 13.5 yrs and am still teary eyed when I think of him. He was my little boy. Memories and the fact that you have all these wonderful videos will help to keep you strong! The hardest part of owning a dog is to recognize when their quality of life has gone. All the strength to you both.
As long as his his quality of life is as awesome as it appears, keep going. Be strong. Been rooting for Gatsby and won't ever stop.
Hi Ryen and Gatsby, my dog and I have been in a very similar situation lately. We too have been going to UC Davis as my dog was diagnosed with cancer.
It was really helpful to watch your videos as I was able to understand Gatsby’s journey and see his remarkable recovery. It gave me a lot of hope and helped me feel like I wasn’t alone suffering alongside my poor dog.
One thing I do want to tell you is that the oncologist gave my dog only 3 weeks to live if the tumors were not removed. Radiation wasn’t an option for us as the tumors were so large that my dog couldn’t walk correctly, urinate, or even defecate.
We’re so lucky and grateful that one of the best surgeons at Davis was on duty and was able to remove all the tumors as we were only given a 50/50 chance. He could’ve bled out to death or they could’ve opened him up and were not able to do anything for him. So we’re very thankful.
I’m telling you this because despite the horrible circumstances, my dog was able to bounce back from the surgery in less than 1 week. He was up and running and playful and eating in such a short amount of time. Even the oncologist wasn’t surprised and told me dogs bounce back so much faster than hoomans.
My dog is doing extremely well. He’s been on chemo, but due to side effects I’ve taken him off them for the meanwhile. Otherwise, his 3 months re-check showed no signs of reoccurrence and he so so strong and healthy. I feel like he’s a puppy all over again.
I hope this was helpful. Good luck to Gatsby on his yet another journey. My dog still is on his as well, but know that you’re not alone and even though it’s a lot to put Gatsby through Gatsby will tell you when he’s had enough. You’ll know it. Keep fighting for Gatsby as long as Gatsby can continue to do so. Virtual hugs from Ace and I.
I'm so sad to hear this. Gatsby doesn't even look sick but to know what he's going through I can't imagine how he gets through the day. I just hope he is not in pain. He is so brave and strong. I’ve been following your channel since Gatsby was a puppy. I would always have your vlogs rolling in the background while I cooked/cleaned at my little studio apartment when I lived alone. I always felt like I got to hang out with you two and the joy and positivity you two brought to your channel got me through some tough times when I had a lot of negativity in my life. Watching you and Gatsby always cheered me up and made me smile. I know how much Gatsby means to you, and how hard this whole thing has been. You are taking SUCH good care of him, and you have been blessed with an amazing resource/medical team that most of us wouldn’t be able to provide for our pets. Ryen, I just wanted you to know that Gatsby is the reason I wanted a tri-color Corgi and found my Murfee. Because of Gatsby (and your videos), I searched and found him in 2016. Murf has been going through some health issues these past couple of weeks and we still don't have a diagnosis. Gatsby was really on my mind tonight, so I searched for him and found your video. I had no idea he was going through all of this. I do believe our beloved pups are here for us and feel all our emotions. Sending love and light to both you and Gatsby. Unfortunately our dogs dont live long enough. Just love him fir as long as he has left. He has an amazing life. I wish that for so many dogs who are neglected and abused. My advice, doctors will take all yr money them the dog will die if he's going to die. I would just continue to live him. When his quality of life diminishes then he will tell you when it's time to let him go. My rescue pitbull was a year old and had a mass cell tumor that was removed. Thank God he's doing good. I love my dogs more than life but would not pay for chemo and radiation. I would just travel with him and let him enjoy whatever time he has left. Doctors will give you false hope whole taking your money. I have a doctor I trust. If he tells me to euthanize then I know there is nothing else that can be done. Gatsby will tell you what you should do. U feel your pain. Our dogs are so Precious. Trust your gut NOT the doctors unless you have a holistic vet you trust. He looks great. I would just leave him alone. Take your money and do some beautiful trips with him. There was a youtuber who's dog was dying and he carried him in a backpack and travelled with him doing what the dogs loved. Stay strong.
I also feed my dogs a raw diet with quality meat from Miami Raw and their skin, coat and overall health is so improved.

Your doing the right thing, and Gatsby seems happy. Just make the most of the time you have left with him knowing it is relatively short. I lost my best friend Austin at 13 or so, soooo stubby smart and cute like Gatsby last year and it happened way too fast. We still have our girl Juno but she is 13, her bag legs have kinda went 'kapoot' on her, but she is still happy for now but I know her time is limited. Hang in there, best of wishes and prayers to little Gatsby - you have given him the best life possible! Be happy and celebrate that.

We went through a lot with Jacks’ cancer, I totally understand being confused about what’s best for Gatsby, all the treatments…we take comfort that we did the best we could for him.
