Prayers for Gatsby. I just lost my Corgi, Jolene, to cancer last week. You were so lucky, to be able to get him into a surgeon that specializes in that field when you did. I have been watching you and Gatsby for a few years. I wish you guys the best of luck and hope he continues to recover from his cancel. 🙏🙏🙏

Oh Ryan, you broke my heart when you said you just wanted to give him one good memory in case something happened. Ryan the way Gatsby looks at you and you look at him, that special bond you two have that doesn’t always happen with people and their fur babies… you have given him a life time of memories just as he has done the same for you. You two were meant to be together in this life time. I know this cancer Journey has been harder then any words could describe, but in a small way it may be a gift. As much as we love our fur babies, no matter if they are the heaviest possible, at anytime something can change and time is our most precious resource. Just as Gatsby has filled your world with perfect love and joy, he has shown us just how important it is to take those moments we have and instead of one more show, or playing on our phones, we need to put everything down and just give the time we have to those little angels in our lives some of the love they pure in to us so selflessly. For that Gatsby, I am forever beyond great full to you sweet angel boy.

Not a vet, but an icu nurse: it's very normal for dogs to be out of it the first couple days after surgery. The body is clearing the anesthesia and the doctor probably gave him a stronger pain med so he wouldn't be as ouchy (anyone who has had an abominal surgery can probably relate). Groggy/being disoriented is also perfectly normal. It's such good news that Gatsby's surgery went well ❤️ it wouldn't be a bad idea to maybe get him some puzzle treats (tiktok has one where you hide treats in a tied up towel) so he's still being stimulated but not as physically active. Sending you both all the love, prayers, and good vibes ❤️❤️
Its been 6 months and he is still going strong! We hope Gatsby gets better soon✌✌✌

Wow, he is nine, time flies! This little warrior is recovering well, as his loving dad will do anything for him, including finding the best specialist vets in UCDavis. Cheers to you Ryen, and hugs to Gatsby!

I'm so glad everything went well! The way Gatsby was smiling as you were walking to the car after being released, you'd never know he just had major surgery. Such the best boy!

Omgosh the 3 of us here can not stop smiling for you two! As a cancer survivor myself the struggle to get thru AND the road to mending is real. But life on the other side( once I cleared as cancer free), life is finding what is gorgeous. Not perfect with events that move around us, but within our personal and private household, I have learned who my true support network is, and how lucky I am to have them- that's what I mean by finding what is honestly gorgeous, not being told what it is. We love hearing about updates. Now BREATHE!
