Ryen, my Corgi was born with an extremely rare brain disorder, and it was very unlikely he would make it past his 2nd birthday. And I adopted him knowing this; I just wanted to give him the happiest life for as long as God will allow me to keep him. Well, I am proud to say he’s nearing his 6th birthday! I think loving our pets with everything we have in our hearts and treating them like family makes all the difference in the world. We never know how long we have with these precious pups. Try not to think about the scary side of this too much. Gatsby has so much to live for and he’ll keep fighting. So go out and make some more fun memories with him. Fight with him; and for him. We’ve got your back!! ♥️

I used to work in an oncology office, and when the doctors explain the median time, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the number that defines the patient, especially Gatsby. We’ve had patients who have lived far beyond that number. Enjoy the present and every moment with him. He truly loves you 💕

Words cannot explain how glad and happy I am that Gatsby was able to get treated so soon especially at such a prestigious place! Thank you so much UC Davis and everyone who worked with Ryen and Gatsby there! It’s amazing to see that Gatsby was feeling better so soon after the radiation treatment! My heart felt so warm and I had one of the biggest smile seeing Gatsby playing with the iFetch and smiling back at Ryen. Take as much time and do what you need to better your mental health Ryen! I’m cheering for you! You two are continuously in my thoughts and I will pray that you two will have many more years together and make many more memories! Seeing the funds raised from the GoFundMe and the CorgiOnFleek store being cleared out as well as all the gifts sent by all the amazing fans at the end of the vlog was just so heartwarming! To know this many people are coming together to help Ryen out is just awesome!
I’ll end this comment off with a quote that I really like, ““Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That’s why it is called the present” - Master Oogway, Kung Fu Panda”
You two take good care! ❤️

I still remember watching your videos of when you just got Gatsby and when he was a puppy. I’m so glad he’s getting the treatment he needs and that he’s feeling better, but this is still really hard. Gatsby is so so lucky to have you. Just remember that you’ve alleviated a lot of his pain, and thanks to you, he will be as comfortable as he can be for the next year. I may have not been tuning into your videos lately, but I still remember how much you took care of your pup, like when you would cook special meals for him, just like with the chicken soup. I hope with time you and Gatsby will find peace. Also, hopes this helps towards his medical bills. Sending love and good luck to you both 💕

He have a bad smell in his mouth and nose and the vet diagnose nasal cancer. He started to have no energy nor appetite….then his breathing started to get fast that we decided no more suffering for him. He is up there now over the rainbow bridge. In my 41 years, even as a grown adult now, I’ve only known unconditional love through my dog. In 2012, he passed away in his sleep and not a day goes by that I don’t think about him. I only have good memories of him, and even after being gone now for 10 years, he still continues to teach me about how precious these moments are with every day that passes.
I know you’re scared, but don’t be. Live in this moment, however long you have left with him. We are all in the same boat, and our end walks hand in hand with us, every minute and in every breath. Give him the best time with whatever he has left.

UC Davis was amazing with one of our dogs a long time ago. He spent a month in the hospital and everyone got to know him. He was treated like a prince. He had surgery for pancreatic cancer and after the surgery, he wasn't able to walk. For whatever reason, he was paralyzed from the waist down. They told us he wouldn't be able to walk again and his prognosis was 6 months to live. As much as doctors are educated and experienced, they aren't God, and they don't know when it's time for a person or pet to leave us. Our dog did walk and run again after much physical therapy at the hospital and at home. He lived way past the 6 months they predicted and had a great quality of life for the remainder of his time with us. Enjoy every moment with him and try not to stress or worry about the time frame they told you because they don't know and Gatsby will feel any sadness or worry you feel so just show him love and happiness as much as you can and that can help him heal and have a longer life too! 💜

What helped me when my dog was diagnosed with cancer was that I got a puppy and the puppy got to know my dog and when my dog passed away I still had a puppy that knew him. My puppy grew up and when he was elderly I got another puppy. So today I have a dog that knew a dog that knew my first dog. For whatever reason that’s comforting.

also try `rewind therapy' - it removes 85% of trauma the next day. You can learn it in 5 minutes. You are imagining sitting on a chair and looking at the screen where you see yourself going through a traumatic event from the beginning to the current day. Once done you enter the screen and become you in that film at the end of the traumatic event or the current day if not over and you rewind like a movie - fast - to the point before the trauma.

I experienced something similar to what you mentioned, when my horse got sick a few years back.
I knew she had cancer and there wasn’t anything I could do to fix it. I would just cry thinking about her not being around, cry walking to go see her and feel horrible about having to be the one who makes the final call…
So I just followed her lead, gave her all her fave treats, massaged her sore old legs, slept in the field with her and her paddock mate when the sun was out and did everything I could to make her comfortable until she let me know it was time to go.
On her last morning I made sure she was FULL of all her fave treats including the naughty ones she normally couldn’t have 😆
I was able to spend 2 years longer with her than what she was expected to have and 6 months after that I said goodbye to my dog of 18 years. I held her in my arms and she didn’t take her eyes off me till she was gone and I gave her a kiss one last time.
Saying goodbye sucks but filling every moment with love makes things that little bit easier
I didn’t think I’ed be be able to function without either of them especially my dog who had been with me 24/7 since I was 7, but knowing they both felt happy and loved because of things I had done again made it a little better.
Hang in there Ryen you may have been given a year but really you have however long Gatsby decides he has so follow his lead and never stop loving him

I know it's hard but don't focus on the end time line just love the time you two have . that's all Gatsby cares about is now follow his lead Ryen. We all love and care about you and Gatsby. Thank you for letting us know how he's doing.❤

Ryen, the reason why you and Gatsby have so much support is because of the two of you.... we've been following you since the very beginning and you two have provided us so much love and fun and excitement. Good men and good boy deserves the biggest love possible. We have a Shih Tzu / Maltese mix (despite a Corgi was the first choice for my daughter - but we couldn't accommodate a larger pet) and it's been a blast, taking him to Shabu Shabu (his favorite restaurant). Maybe if we bump into you one of these days we'll 'say HI. Stay strong man!

I am so happy to see that Gatsby is feeling better after the radiation. Shout out to UC Davis and the student that brought treatment so quickly. I truly believe in the power of positivity and prayers, and you and Gatsby have hundred's of thousands of people that have your back. Gatsby will outlive any median or number given, he has so much more to give to this world. Also remember that the time you have given him even to this point of his life has probably been the best life a dog can even imagine. Gatsby is so loved. Enjoy the time you have left, be it one year or eight, just enjoy the time. Stay busy, keep living... perhaps the next calendar, whatever it is, it will be great, and another fantastic memory of this great adventure you and Gatsby travel together. I just started working on the Gatsby puzzle I got in the mail last week, and I'll look forward to working on it for the couple weeks. Thanks you Ryen for being you, and sharing your life with me, it bring me joy to know you.

Ya know dogs and cats hang in there. Until you let them go. It has happened twice, last time I let everyone say goodbye. My boy cat, had complications and we could do nothing. I kept him purring due to some pain. Then he let out one cry and I covered his mouth to keep it quiet. Then he settled down and the wait began to confirm he was gone. He was still breathing, and I got the time he stopped. 6am, I dealt with everything. We have one cat now, so it will happen again one day. It was not sad he wanted my arm until he pushed it away 🤗

All I can say is live in the moment for him. He can sense if your sad, dont be sad for his sake, be positive and know you'll be able to do everything humanly possible for him with this big support group! He's got the best shot of probably any dog right now and that's huge!

I know this is a bit random, but my cat had a brain tumor. His head was always tilted and he would shake his head/paw at his ears. We were told there was nothing we could do for him with such a huge tumor. We kept him on steroids and waited for him to decline. He lived 3 years on the steroids. The tumor shrank, but never went away. Still, they were telling us to put him down when we brought him in, so the 3 extra years were a blessing. Just wanted to offer a little bit of hope in case it helps.
