I bought this cooler. I have to admit that I like your videos. Very simple and informative. I have not built a desktop in over 5 years and so much tech has changed. I am currently building and I have all the components but I am waiting on my GPU. I was going to get a GTX 4070 but waited to get a RTX 4070 Super for $50 more. I decided to go from AM4 to AM5. My components: MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk WIFI, Ryzen 5 7600 (will upgrade in a year or so), Thermalright Assassin X120 Refined SE, G.SKILL Flare X5 Series (AMD Expo) DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB), 6000MT/s CL30-38-38-96, GAMDIAS ATX Mid Tower, Corsair RM750e power supply and WD_BLACK 2TB SN850X NVMe Internal Gaming SSD Solid State Drive. A few extra non RGB fans for the top exhaust. I think I am ready to build after watching many of your how to videos like how to spread thermo paste, flash bios and the like. I am still waiting on the Asus RTX 4070 super OC. Thank You for your informative video's

thermalright cant seem to put a foot wrong at the moment
Just watched the review you did on this kewler and its good to see that its not bad to install. There are certainly worse ones out there when it comes to installing but this one, even with thick fingers, isnt too bad. Thanks Sausage Fingers and Kath 🙂

Hello, in some reviews of this cooler, I found that some people put a piece of iron on the motherboard directly behind the processor in order to connect with the two pieces of iron next to the processor that you installed on the plastic pieces. So my question is, do I have to put that piece of iron at the back or do I not need it? So ? By the way, my motherboard is Asrock B550M Steel Legend. I will be really happy with your answer
i am sorry i don't know what the piece of iron is. if you mean the AMD motherboard backplate, that comes with the motherboard

Thanks for doing this video. I was looking to see if this cooler would work on my new build as at Christmas I am going to move the new machine onto a closed loop water system, but I want to build it now as the parts I want are on sale now and I can have the new system 5 months earlier. Thanks for making it and showing the steps. It would be nice if the manufacturer would do this.

Easy to fit and cheap can’t go wrong
A straight forward installation when following your guidelines. How did cooling compare to previous towers such as the ID Cooling 214? Plus on your itx builds with vertical airflow can a tower be rotated 90degrees? Thanks for reviewing Mike and Kath 🐈👍
Most 120mm coolers are very close to each other in terms of performance the bigger difference seems to be the fan noise. Not sure about the 90 degree option think it
From a thermal perspective I would not recommend that. You will either be pulling hot air directly off the GPU, or blowing it on it.
Yes it can be rotated, with little loss in performance.

THANK YOU! Building my son's first PC and he has this cooler (for an AM5 build) - this was great to know exactly how to install the cooler! Absolutely perfectly explained and saved Dad from looking like a complete moron "sure son, I've built dozens of PCs.... and now.... four hours to figure out how to install a CPU cooler!" You saved me from that fate as I haven't built a system with this type of mount.

Have it on a 38xt doing photoshop and a lot of file transferring between nvme's and NAS. Great little cooler, even after downgrading the fan (the rgb was wasted)

I have received TR BA 120 but not the 3 pin Argb controller yet. Can I use this meanwhile without RGB effects? Like connecting only 4 pin cpu fan cable

Best way to attach a cooler. Stock backplate, no spring clips. Now, if they can use something else than spring clips for fans... especially on big coolers

not on amd , you might be able to on intel due to the more square mount
does it Need to have the rgb pin connector inserted to work?my b760m ds3h ddr4 mobo wont start up with the 12600kf with the bios updated!not sure if its the Jonsbo cabinet that only got the power pins and power sw on with no reset pins in it! I know I only put the cpu fan headers on and not the rgb!

@@mikesunboxing I bought a cheap msi pro h610 mobo it cant connect the rgb fans and it works fine, the shitabyte b760m mobo is not working properly I think!giving it to my pc pro nephew to see if he can fix or use it!

Hi Mike, you sound like you are from the same area as me! I only have a 4 pin rgb on my board, do you know if there is a method to connect the 3 pin to a 4 pin, from what I've read its a no - thanks
you can get an adapter to convert 3pin argb to 12v rgb but that effectively makes the argb single colour, but it can be done
Got this one, installed it, cant close the cover anymore :v (its a generic cpu case).
Lights are great (had to use a Sata to 3 Pin adapter with a small controller in it).
And temperatures are even cooler (see what i did there).
Granted, im using an i7-4785t, which is the low power comsuption but its still great.

the brackets are universal for Intel or AMD sockets
@@mikesunboxing Thanks. Interesting. The Peerless Assassin has different mounting plates for AMD/Intel. You would think that if a standard mounting plate is possible, it would be designed into the Assassin range.

the aRGB connection goes to jrainbow1 and the fan lead goes to CPU header 1

the true TDP for this i would say is about 150w to be comfortable. So most 95w cpus are fine, the 105c newer ryzens are going to be at the limit here without very strong case airflow. Can't comment on the thermal paste, not got around to trying it yet sorry

hey mike both of my fans have the rbg cables to connect into a rbg 3 pin panel but i only see one 3 pin to connect to my motherboard so i have one fan that isnt connected to the rbg pin. is there anything i can do

they are both quite different plugs, but one goes to the cpu fan header, the other to an argb header
Oh so you have a motherboard with a argb header. Mine is a rgb header and I got a thermalwright assassin X 120r. Is the fan cooler rgb or argb? If it’s argb can I still plug it into my motherboard that says on its manual rgb. I’m really sorry I just need help 😥

sort of, the 5800x3d can be both cool and hot depending on the loads. Being this is one of the cheapest 120mm tower coolers on the market that is half decent. So give it a go

brother if ur still awake can you give me a quick response to a case suggestion for ATX: I'm looking at argb setups for under £55 atleast 4 fans, however i will go with £35 under for a white case with no fans but has the argb controller stuff on the back panel of the case/vertical Buttons instead of horizontal. here's what I'm torn between:

@@statix the f15 and the lianli 215 that shares the same chassis and setup are two of the best cases I have used for the money, or there are a few more new ones coming from ionz soon if you are not in a massive hurry
