Late Night with the Devil was like an extended episode of Tales from the Darkside in the best way. really enjoyed it in theater.
Always love when Guru and Jackula review a movie together.

Absolutely adored this film. Caught it in the theater and had a wonderful time. A real successor to Ghostwatch, in my opinion.

JoBlo Horror did a 50th Anniversary video for Kolchak the Night Stalker and David Dastmalchian did a long video chat with them in it about what the show meant to him. So yeah, he's a horror fan from his earliest days.
With Michael Ironside involved, it feels fitting that the poster art depicts a figure with a burning head that reminds me of David Croningberg's 'Scanners' poster art. #MrWriggles

Welcome back guys, #Mrwriggles and I are happy to see you again. I got to see this in theatres and yeah, didn't trust that possessed girl for a second because she seemed possessed the whole time. Also didn't like the black and white bits that much because "and who was cameraman?!" kept popping into my head. I agree, Michael Ironside should have come back at the end. Otherwise I adore this movie, finally something to double feature with Ghostwatch!
Easily my favorite horror movie in a long time. It was incredible, and I want to see David Dastmalchian as a lead in many more horror movies. He is brilliant!
Agree with your note on the ending. But everything else is great. The direction was really good- it truly felt like a 70s late night talk/variety show only with less smoking and highballs
SWEET! I was just thinking to myself as I watched this movie a week ago "Guru hasn't released anything in a while...and damn this movie is good. Why's he not on this? Hope he's okay" And here you are. Good to see you and Jack. #MrWriggles Sidenote: This also reminds me of another Shudder movie, Give Me Pity. They'd be an interesting double feature.
The only complaint I have is this probably should have been released in October.
I loved this film! David Dastmalchian did a really great job. Actually every actor and actress did a great job, there were no bad parts. I loved the ending because everyone has a different interpretation about it, and you can sit and discuss it for hours afterwards. I love hearing about everyone's opinions.
As for the AI I read that they had hired an artist who was experimenting with the use of AI and this is what they came up with? I can't find the link so don't take me at my word, it's just something that I had read.

Ingrid Toreli is awesome in this movie. She is so creepy even when she isn’t in possessed mode. I want to see her play Raven in the new Teen Titans.

The young girl who played the possessed girl was great. She has sweetness to her. Also had Manson follower vibe to her but yet you know there was something super evil in her

I saw it in theaters and I really liked it. The twist is telegraphed at the beginning, but the ride was super enjoyable. The Amazing Randy character was my favorite, too. One thing I'm not sure about is the audience. Were the costumed ones part of the cult, or were they just absorbed into the ritual at the end?
There was another horror film in theaters about stop motion filming called Stopmotion. I'm wondering what you guys think of it before I watch it.
Welcome back, gentlemen. Late Night with the Devil is my horror movie of 2024 so far. David Dastmalchian does an excellent job in this film, where he carries this movie on his shoulders. While the ending is anticlimactic, the movie is an absolute banger. #MrWriggles
6:44 from what I heard, the skeptic was based on the meaner persona that others gave Randy.
11:15 my personal theory is that he does comeback in the end in universe, we just don’t get to see it because the demon doesn’t care for it.
I saw this one too! I love this movie, and it really got me wanting more analog horror. David killed that performance, and the teenage girl.
And yeah, it sucks that they used AI for transitional images, very much. But it really doesn't take away from the rest of the movie. Support artists! But please, do watch this movie regardless!

I copped Shudder just to watch this.
Was hoping for something a little less subtle but overall it was a good movie.
I watched this movie yesterday. It was really good and I was surprised on how fast it went it was so good. My son and jump when screen started talking. But it’s one those movies that will probably do great on streaming
I am so happy this movie lived up to the hype. Was so excited to see it since i saw the trailer last year. Wasn't expecting it to be "found footage" but thankful it scratched 3 of my horror itches with being a period piece, possession flick, and found footage. had they managed to tack on being an anthology i may have died from too much awesome. #MrWriggles
Also kudos to the actress playing the girl. the way she stared into the camera was so god damned unnerving. genuinely uncomfortable every time she locked eyes with me.
I saw Late Night With The Devil in theatres, but was quiet about that on social media because of the AI thing. This movie was oozing with seventies cult imagery and just the complete craziness of the decade, I’m pretty sure Jack enjoyed the filmmakers playing with that milieu in a modern horror movie. #MrWriggles

I do like how they showed the little girl wasn’t effected by the skeptic’s hypnosis. It’s a quick line she says but shows that she wasn’t laughing at the worm stuff just a chubby guy taking off his clothes

This was good I needed a good horror movie after all you need is death a let down. I like how some of the characters in this movie seem to be inspired a bit by real people like the amazing Randy and perhaps Anton Lavey

I was going to skip this one because I don’t really care for possession flicks. And the ‘70s aesthetic just struck me as more of the Conjuring trash I tend to avoid. However, your review has persuaded me to log into Shudder & give this a whirl. Thanks! #MrWriggles

#mrwriggles I love love love found footage films so when it broke the conceit at the end it frustrated me (I mean yeah the behind the scenes stuff was for sure a stretch but I could get passed it), but I still really loved the movie and I thought that the final moment was worth it. I was on edge/unsettled the entire time watching it
The film really does feel like an old EC horror story in film form. I do agree that the ending is a little muddled, but overall I think it really worked. I also agree that the use of AI art in the film is disappointing, but the way it was used is so whatever that it doesn't detract from the film for me. #MrWriggles

I actually watched that movie in theatres.
#MrWriggles, Truth be told I'm not going to watch the movie, it does look interesting but I can't get over the fact that they used two segments with AI generated images even though it was brief. As a person who knows artists and some writers, I don't know I feel like what they did was bullshit, when they could have just hired someone to do those two segments. Or hell they could have just bought some old Halloween cards, cut them out and just use that for the segments if they wanted to save money. When this gets on DVD/Blu-ray I hope they remove those two segments and replace it with either something made by an artist or just removed it all together.

This movie was mid. I liked what they were trying to do, they just didn’t do it that well. I wish it was scarier.
Not out in germany until June 6. 24 (6.6.6 joke?).
At least it won't be 5 years between stopping at videospoilers and sitting down to watch "Bliss"
