If I ever was to recommend a Seiko 5 it would be this. It’s very far removed from the SKX , it’s not trying to look like a diver . Great stuff Dave! Ps! Take the day/date away you’ve got yourself a real beaut!;)

There’s a reason I wear one at work, on a construction site. And it’s the Hardlex crystal. I’ve shattered two sapphire crystals. Haven’t managed to damage Hardlex yet. Shatter resistance is more important to me than scratch resistance.

I have to take time and just appreciate how you actually zoom out when you show your wrist shots. Almost every other CZcamsr sticks their whole wrist 2 inches from the lens and it’s so hard to tell perspective. Love this watch BTW. I have the black version and I thinks it’s killer!

Loved the video, I 100% agree that this is Seiko's most exited recent release. Heritage never used to be something that I was concerned about but as I've moved through my watch collecting journey I've started to appreciate it a great deal, sure you can get a "San Martin" or something similar with better specs but this is completely original, from a brand packed with heritage and every single part is crafted in-house by Seiko themselves. I've previously owned a blue SRPE53 and added a domed sapphire crystal, Strapcode bracelet and signed crown. I've since sold the watch and purchased several other higher send Seiko's including a Grand Seiko and I still find myself looking at this model, it's just a great overall package.

Gotta love the dress kx, I brought my one a few year's ago and swapped out the crystal to a domed sapphire. That bracelet is folded linked trash so I replaced it with a strapcode Super-o Boyer. The watch had a job to do, in order to complete my suit and tie for my mum and dad's funerals, as I didn't think one of my g shocks was appropriate wrist attire for that occasion. I was very surprised at the amount of modding parts available for this watch.

I've had my SRPE67 for a few weeks now, and love it! Currently wearing it on a gray sailcloth by Barton Watch Bands. But; I have to say how much I really like the Nato strap it came on! 20+ years of collecting, and I've never owned a Nato! Just never did anything for me in the past. Now; I'm looking to add a few to my collection! 👍

Great vid, as usual, Dave! Thanks for all this great content! I totally agree with all the pros and cons of this watch... I got more into watches in early 2020 with an Explorer (I friggin' dove right in. lol), but wanted something similar to that Explorer for day-to-day yet won't hurt as much if I bang it up a bit, so ended up with both an SRPE55 (silver version with black face) and this SRPE57 in your video (which I have on wrist for past couple days, coincidentally)... note to potential owners that the gold around the markers are more prominent than they appear in your video (not necessarily a bad thing, but they're more noticeable in person). I'm quite easy on my watches and have had no mishaps with the Hardlex yet. For the price point, it's a no-brainer (I got mine on sale at TheBay in Canada for around 30% off MSRP). The simple elegance is striking. The case size works great on my skinny 6.25cm wrist as well.

Hardlex isn't that bad, I've worn mine almost daily for 2 years.. hundreds of hours of manual labour around my old house and the crystal is clear as day. Glare is pretty minimal as well.
The steel bezel has fared worse than the glass.. but still looks decent.
Great watch for sure. It does everything well.

Excellent review Dave. Help me out, I’ve had trouble researching the brushed bezel versions. I know the 61 with a grey NATO has the brushed bezel but what other color ways do as well?

Looks good, not normally a fan of gold but with the blue it looks tasteful

This popped up in my feed and just so happened I’m wearing this very watch. Love it! However after about two years of ownership it intermittently, inexplicably, stops running (not because it’s out of power). But upon adjust to time it would fine again until it inexplicably stops running again.

It's a fantastic, affordable, GADA watch. And yes, can be found on sale for around $200. In many ways it's similar to the Black Bay 41 (diver-derived every day watch), but at less than 1/10 the price. The main downside is the bracelet. I do wish Seiko would upgrade their bracelets across the line from Seiko 5s all the way to Grand Seiko. It's a relative weakness of theirs. These DressKXs look great on a jubilee. Islander Watch sells an affordable version (~$59), and Uncle Seiko has a nice one as well, but more expensive.

I have the SRPE61 with the brushed bezel, with an aftermarket bracelet. It's been great!

The best of the bunch. I have mine with a grey striped (Bond) nylon strap.

I have the blue faced version and swapped out the bracelet with nato straps. It's so versatile.

Excellent choice and please do at some point make a video (or series) about modding/improving this watchmodel. Another point of improvement could be replacing the bland, unsigned crown (shame on you, Seiko...) with a signed one. I'd be interested in learning how to cut/adjust the stem of a secondary market crown. And a question: are there actually brushed bezels available? I'm asking because the SRPE61 is my favorite model, but it is more expensive and harder to get in Europe. If I could get a more readily available model with polished bezel and then make the swap, that would be nice. Also: the brushed/polished difference extends to the cases themselves, right? I'd like some more brushed areas on the watch, so maybe combining SRPE51 (polished bezel) with a brushed bezel would do the trick?

Good looking watch. Just a real solid daily watch. Think it is the same watch as my 2020 jdm version with a blue dial and bezil.
