    All of your videos have been great. AS a new casual player they have all been very helpful and informative, and this one is no exception. I look forward to part three!

    Kavil with a turret partnered with 5 Z-95s with feedback arrays is very amusing, and makes for a very terrifying alpha strike

      BTL Y-Wing I can imagine. It would be more amusing to see if anyone would buy five IG-2000 expansions just to run that in a tournament.

    9:18 Dace Bonearm + Determination + Ion Cannon Turret + Greedo + _Moldy Crow_ title = *PROFIT!!!*

  • @SkullivanBones

    i made a fun dace build the other day. no way i think its competitive, but fun none the less :P
    dace with a ion turret, outlaw tech, veteran instincts, and sheild upgrade, followed by serissu and a tansarii point veteran both with a ion cannon, stealth device, the heavy syc title and push the limit
    like i said probably not very competitive but its a heck of a lot of fun.

    For Kavil, it only would work, turret or not, if it was outside the firing arch, correct? I would imagine, even if you were using a turret, if you were firing straight ahead, you wouldn't get the added die.

    • @thecardboarddungeon8770
      @thecardboarddungeon8770  Před 9 lety

      lyianx Yes that's correct; Kavil's ability only works when the defender is outside of his firing arc. Which is okay, since actually maneuvering a Y-Wing to get a target into your front arc is difficult anyway.

      *****
      I used Kavil in our local store tourny, as did i believe 2 or 3 others. I didnt do terrible with him, but im really noobish at flying so i dont blame that. He did survive all rounds tho. I had him with Autoblaster turret, which was a mixed bag + unhinged.

    • @thecardboarddungeon8770
      @thecardboarddungeon8770  Před 9 lety

      ***** I agree. I think Kavil is the pilot I'd use with Autoblaster Turret because he rolls an extra die outside of his arc, but the range is certainly limiting. I like the fact that hits can't be cancelled with defense dice. I think if Phantoms and Interceptors are still getting a lot of play in your area the value of Autoblaster increases, but for general squadron-building I'd probably be more inclined to use Blaster Turret with Kavil since it packs more punch and has the better range.

    Imperial Boba is still useful though if he has Veteran Instincts, Navigator, and Engine Upgrade. It basically makes him a highly reactive arc dodger that is extremely unpredicted. Using a heavy laser cannon is also brutal since you can keep your opponent at the optimal range 2.

    • @thecardboarddungeon8770
      @thecardboarddungeon8770  Před 9 lety

      SoulOfSparta The only problem I'd have with that build (including the Heavy Laser Cannon) is that it costs 54 points. That's a whole lot for a single ship in a 100-point match. In Epic, I'd fly that build in a heartbeat - you're right, the combination of Navigator and Engine Upgrade makes Boba Fett very unpredictable and able to avoid enemy fire, which is great.

      The Cardboard Dungeon Thank you so much for replying! I'm new to the game so having a veteran such as yourself giving me feedback is invaluable. I went with such a high point build for a couple of reasons: I feel like in the right hands this build could be extraordinarily useful, and it still leaves room for someone like Whisper or Soontir Fel; I've seen people run a Decimator and Whisper build plenty of times, so I figured that a pimped out Boba could be just as useful if not more; and the main reason that I went with this high point Boba is because he is my favorite Star Wars character and I just wanted to pimp him out as much as possible. Anyways thanks again and keep up the amazing videos!
      P.S. I hope you don't mind if I bounce a few more builds off you in the future because you're advice helps a lot.

      SoulOfSparta Absolutely! As you might have guessed, I LOVE talking X-Wing builds! And I'd absolutely love to see a tricked out Boba Fett running alongside Soontir Fel or Whisper perform well in a tournament setting. I might even try out something like this the next time I get X-Wing to the table just because it sounds like a lot of fun.
      The biggest issue a squadron of only 2-3 ships has is action economy. You need to play perfectly against a squadron of 4-5 (or a swarm of 7-8) ships because any mistake you make will be punished harshly since the opponent has more attack opportunities. I'd be really scared to put Boba Fett plus an arc dodger on my side of the table and see four B-Wings and a Z-95 on the other side. Even if you can predict enemy movement and play extremely well, that many guns on the table means it will be difficult to avoid taking fire, and if they destroy just one of your ships it's probably game over.
      Keep the build ideas and questions coming!

    • @SoulOfSparta
      @SoulOfSparta Před 9 lety

      The Cardboard Dungeon Yeah a swarm would be my one worry; however, I think with my Boba build and a tricked out Whisper I'd still have enough for a secondary weapon or 2. Boba could go out with say an assault missile and possibly even something like an advanced proton torpedo to deal with a high health ship like a B-Wing or a Falcon. Idk I'd have to crunch the numbers to see if there'd be room but it could help if it does.

    • @thecardboarddungeon8770
      @thecardboarddungeon8770  Před 9 lety

      SoulOfSparta Scum Boba Fett can bring a couple of Z-95 buddies with Assault missiles to help deal with swarms as well.

    Do these fleets have to play pure scum and villainy or is there an option to contract these ships into a rebel or empire build?

    • @thecardboarddungeon8770
      @thecardboarddungeon8770  Před 9 lety +1

      Chad Ryg Squadrons have to be faction pure, at least as of right now. Imperial Assault has mechanics that allow for mixing of factions in the Skirmish mode, and it would make sense to have some way to bring some of these Scum & Villainy pilots into Imperial Fleets in the future.

    • @RYGReachYourGoals
      @RYGReachYourGoals Před 9 lety +1

      I guess there's always room for a house rule. Maybe a 10 point build penalty so the player would really have to want or need that certain combo. Thoughts?

    • @thecardboarddungeon8770
      @thecardboarddungeon8770  Před 9 lety

      Chad Ryg I think a 10 point penalty is pretty steep - that's 10% of your 100 point squadron. I could see something like an Imperial-only Crew upgrade with a cost of 2 points and this ability: "Your squadron may include one pilot from the Scum faction." This would limit your build options (you'd have to have a ship capable of carrying at least one Crew in the squad (so, Decimator, Firespray, TIE Phantom or Lambda Shuttle) and it would use up that crew slot with no ability other than being able to add a Scum ship. That seems like a workable solution.
      However, when playing casual games at home I say go crazy! Mix and match ships however you want with no penalty! Want Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker to settle their differences and fly on the same side? Do it! Why not? As long as you're having fun, nothing else really matters in that setting.

    • @RYGReachYourGoals
      @RYGReachYourGoals Před 9 lety +1

      I always wanted to put Luke in a TIE something or other. Could be a fun escape scenario.

      +Chad Ryg A little game scenerio I thought up. I've never actually tried this, so I have no idea how it would work in practice. I call it TRAITOR! in honor of you-know-who. Basically, in addition to your 100 points, you get a single ship from another faction. You'll probably need to place some point limit on the traitor to keep everyone from going nuts with high level pilots and expensive upgrades/ships, though.

    I can't figure out any useful build for Kavil. He has an awesome ability, but it's almost unuseful. The coolest thing is that he can take Deadeye, as elite talent, plus two missiles and blaster turret, so anyone who's in range could take tons of damage without becoming mad to keep enemies in sight. Built like this it's terribly strong and dangerous but the new Autoblaster turret and the new title are very very difficult to use (especially the new droid "R4 Agromech" on the only ship who can use droids... I think/I hope we will see new rebel ship on the scum side :S ) - so he's strong without the new things... really? XD
    Can you show me some way to use theese things, please?

    • @thecardboarddungeon8770
      @thecardboarddungeon8770  Před 9 lety

      Matteo Bologna Kavil with a Blaster Turret rolls 4 attack dice against targets outside of his firing arc. That's pretty good, right there. You can give him any number of other upgrades to improve him further. You could use Stay on Target to help him keep his targets out of his arc, or Predator and Agromech to improve his chances to score lots of hits.

    • @AceZero93
      @AceZero93 Před 9 lety +1

      The Cardboard Dungeon Agromech with blaster turret should not work... Agromech says " when attacking, after you spend a focus" - the turret says "spend a focus to attack"... it's one "step" earlier, am I wrong? and can I use that TL in the same turn? I guest not, but who know...

    • @thecardboarddungeon8770
      @thecardboarddungeon8770  Před 9 lety

      Matteo Bologna That's a good question, and maybe one that will need a FAQ entry to answer. Since it all falls under the combat phase I'm also curious to see how the sequence would play out.
