I love that Fantasy Flight has so many pilots that have abilities that emulate their onscreen/expanded universe counterparts. With the ever expanding cast, I'm looking forward to playing X-wing.
Jonathan Anderson The Cardboard Dungeon I would like to second that motion! You have been the most friendly, easy to follow, and informative people on the subject. Keep doing what your doing.
After testing this with Z-95's and M3-A's, a properly kitted Guri is a good dedicated large ship killer provided those other ships play bumper cars with said large ship.
Still having a hard time figuring out what this ship is good at. Played with it a couple of times but I haven't found anything it excels at more than other ships.
TIE Interceptors are my favorite ship. my sparring partner likes to run the Falcon, and i have nightmares trying to compete against it. im assuming this is a must buy :)
Definitely feeling the need to buy this expansion, but worried about opening Pandora's box with my first Scum ship. It's a shame Autothrusters are virtually mandatory for interceptors. I really like the Starviper however, even considering its not popular or seeing much play. Would be cool to pickup all those lonely Starviper who were bought just for auto thrusters.
+Dan Burrell - That's a good point. Virtually no StarVipers are showing up at high levels of competitive play. In fact, the only Scum builds really worth noting are twin IG-88s. I really hope that wave 8 can shake things up for them and give them some more viable build options.
I'm just getting into this game and have picked up the Force Awakens core set (I also picked up the Armada core set) along with the Rebel and Imperial Ace expansions. As of right now I'm not entirely sure which faction I want to play and as such plan on simply collecting all of the expansion ships because they're just so well made and are a joy to look at. And well, by doing so I'll be giving myself options as far as possible fighter builds goes and who doesn't like options? As of right now I have enough Tie Fighters to play an Imperial Tie Swarm build (2 TFA Tie Fighters and 2 Tie Interceptors) though I'm not sure if I'm that interested in being that guy who plays a 'swarm build'. Lol
+DOOMED ! Well, Interceptors are not really "swarm'y" in my opinion since you will likely not want to fly them in formation, so I dont Think anyone will call you out as a "swarm build" guy :)
Scum and Villainy Expansion. Taken from Obi-Wans line about Mos Eisley. I wonder whether characters like Talon Karrde will introduced under this "faction" or if there will be a new subfaction, like "Smugglers" or such.
I've been saying that we'll see a Smugglers & Scoundrels faction for a couple of years. Maybe Solo will make that a reality. Where would Han, Lando and Chewie from that movie fit? Not the Rebellion, and Scum & Villainy doesn't seem to fit.
I can´t picture Talon Karrde as a "Scum & Villainy" type either, hence my comment. And there are others that would fit in that "Smuggler" faction, like the Azzameen family from Star Wars X-Wing Alliance (I totally want to see the Otana as a model!). Not to mention several other interesting characters.
+Ivan Hetem - Anything's possible! It might be awhile, though. Things are slowing down around the ol' dungeon for awhile while we prepare for and execute moving into a new house.
+Ivan Hetem I haven't really played around with Bodyguard much. I also thought that Guri would be ideal in the role paired with a isle but you're right; her ability isn't really well-suited for it. I'll have to play with some builds.
Great review, I personally like Guri at my favourite pilot for a support to a higher pilot skill (potentially for the new Khiraxz Cobra Pilot with his amazing ability), in addition I pronounce Prince Xizor as 'Zizor' as from the Empire at War Forces of Corruption Zann Consortium Campaign where Tyber Zann steals Tibanna gas from Bespin and blames it on Prince Xizor which apparently gets him killed if I recall.. But whether or not this is considered canon in that game, but Forces of Corruption was a great game none the less.. only the bomber was the most unbalanced unit I think in that game.. Also unfair air power given to the Empire and Rebellion only..
+Rational Orc - Not that I know of. The StarViper seems to have not made any sort of impact on the tournament scene. Of course, FFG anticipated this by packing Autothrusters with this ship, and that upgrade has made huge waves in the meta game.
In Scotland "hee haw" is used to mean "nothing" (sweet hee-haw) and the way Xizor is pronounced here makes it sound to me like Prince Nothing! I pronounced it Zai Zor.
+MikeymajQ - Yes, I think Accuracy Corrector is great on any TIE Advanced pilot, but for Vader I favor the Adv. Targeting Computer. With his two actions plus whatever Elite upgrade you choose for him, Vader has a solid shot at rolling hits on his attacks, and with Engine Upgrade you can get him in close and Focus/Target Lock into 3 hits plus a free critical pretty easily at range 1.
Brandon Flooren That's really up to you, I think. I personally will probably only use one unless I decide that having two has some serious benefits. The biggest problem is the cost. Two of these will be, at minimum, 50 points, and that's for the Black Sun Enforcers with pilot skill 1 which is terrible for a flanker/solo ship. So realistically you're looking at more along the lines of 60+ points if you want decent pilots and maybe an upgrade or two.
"You'll be using focus and target lock to land your hits," with an arc dodger? Are you kidding? You'll wanna be barrel rolling and boosting out of their arcs and then using the accuracy corrector to do automatic damage. It's actually better than twin laser turret.
actually yes you are correct. BUT, the focus and target lock basically become wasted actions since if you completely whiff you can just add two hits by default. That being said, other ships will let you spend off the lock. And I don't think I would actually use accuracy corrector on THIS ship, just because at base 3 attack accuracy corrector is basically just compromising on total output for less risk. sorry i was in a hairy mood that day.
Casey Brown Yeah, it's kind of weird since Shadows of the Empire gave us the Outrider and that ship fits right in with the Star Wars look, but the StarViper really does seem to belong to another universe.

Best x wing review Channel!! Keep up the good work!!

Great review! I am definitely going to add one of these to my S&V fleet!

Yes, you need Autothrusters on your Interceptor to have any chance against a Falcon. Probably Stealth Device as well.
Definitely feeling the need to buy this expansion, but worried about opening Pandora's box with my first Scum ship. It's a shame Autothrusters are virtually mandatory for interceptors. Definitely plan on picking up the original core set to add an old school X-Wing and the Luke Skywalker pilot card to my young collection.
+DOOMED ! Well, Interceptors are not really "swarm'y" in my opinion since you will likely not want to fly them in formation, so I dont Think anyone will call you out as a "swarm build" guy :)
Dear God give us the actual one Xizor flew

Hello Pat. would it be possible to make a squad build video with Xizor and palob godalhi with bodyguard?
+Ivan Hetem - Anything's possible! It might be awhile, though. Things are slowing down around the ol' dungeon for awhile while we prepare for and execute moving into a new house.
I see. I am really curious about which would be the best Bodyguard. I figured that Guri (although the lore) would not be the best... any thoughts?

has anyone tried running 4 of these ships in a game? is that viable?
+Rational Orc - Not that I know of. The StarViper seems to have not made any sort of impact on the tournament scene. Of course, FFG anticipated this by packing Autothrusters with this ship, and that upgrade has made huge waves in the meta game.

accuracy corrector + Vaders ship? any good? :0

Is this worth getting 2 of?

i want the hounds tooth soooooo bad
***** Me too! I already have a guy tapped to custom paint a Z-95 into the Nashtah Pup!
im so jelly right now, i'd get into painting my minis, but i don't have the time for it

in fact it's a free two damage and half the cost of tlt. so, I'm gonna assume you're kinda not thinking about this.
+Sam Perry - Accuracy Corrector isn't free damage, it's free hits. No guarantee that those hits will actually deal damage. But I take your points.
actually yes you are correct. BUT, the focus and target lock basically become wasted actions since if you completely whiff you can just add two hits by default. I've gotta say... I hate the Star Viper. It's freaking ugly, and looks like it belongs in another universe.
Casey Brown Yeah, it's kind of weird since Shadows of the Empire gave us the Outrider and that ship fits right in with the Star Wars look, but the StarViper really does seem to belong to another universe.
Seriously.
Me, too. At first I thought it was a Babylon 5 ship.
