I'm only 1min in but fun fact: Ricky had Kate Winslet on an episode of Extra's where he actually wrote a line for her saying "If you want to win an Oscar do a holocaust movie" and then references it there at the awards show which makes it EVEN funnier!

I did that too. I watched both series one after the other. I’ve never had a series make me cry because of the sadness but then make my cry with laughing all in the same breath. Amazing. Xx

You've got to have that disrespect for status that Brits tend to have. It's a class thing as well as a tradition. The American rich and Hollywood have been trying to emulate British upper class levels of self-importance and elegance and being taken seriously in society, but what comes with that is the deserved ridicule from us little people. Establishment people have a hard time with comebacks because they've spent too long trying to attain status and authority in the establishment, being respectful and straight-laced.
That's one of the things that torpedoed Mrs. Clinton in 2016. She'd been working so hard to be respectable and honoured in the establishment for so long she had zero ability, or interest, in winning over the ordinary people she needed to vote for her. People who care about status and honour and the authority of the establishment voted for her, but they're always the minority, and deservedly so.

Unless you're a stand up comedian I imagine its pretty hard to come back with good come backs especially at big events where theres a lot of nerves I'm not sure Americans are any worse at it. Although you guys are probably more polite with greater decorum despite the stereotype of Brits being more polite. That _"the view"_ thing... wasn't he just pointing out that rich fake women on TV spend a fortune on airbrushing and facial peels - but only serve to make real women feel miserable and inadequate. That's a defence of women, right there. Hollywood, Adverts, Celebs... they need bringing down to earth a little.
Gervais isn't a misogynist, he ridicules misogyny through his characters. Sure, he puts his finger in the wound and wiggles it, and we all wince. But he didn't cause the wound. He just lets people feel its pain.

The one thing I really dislike about the editing of the video you're reacting to is how the Jimmy Fallon section was cut in half and continued at a later point in the video. It's an entire 'bit', that misses a great deal of its intended comedic effect because of the edit. Ricky is an absolute unit of a comedy genius nonetheless. It takes one hell of a comedian to basically just read out the responses to his tweets as if they're actual dialog and turn that into entire shows that rake in millions for those involved...

What I find crazy is how people believe he genuinely exposed Hollywood for what it is. When in reality he was hired to do that at the expense of the viewer. Designed to tell you what these monsters are like and make you realise there is nothing you can do about it. The Punch line is the audience, but for some reason people don’t understand that.

We have many true funny guys & comedians, Ricky Gervais isn't really funny. He laughs & smiles at his own lame jokes to make seem it's better than it actually is. I know some will take exception to this, and those fanboys will get offended, but i don't care. Just being frank

I think they've done 1 of his, Tony. But as they said at the time, or someone else did, many clips were pre-banned, or already blocked, as his clips are rare or very hard to find due to the cancel culture mob . . . so, they may only be able to do whatever full shows are available on YT on Patreon (or break them up into much shorter parts perhaps) . . . ?
