UNILATERAL Full Body Workout at Home with Dumbbells | Caroline Girvan

  • Mostly compound dumbbell lifts performed unilaterally targeting the back, chest, shoulders and entire lower body! A lot of muscles involved within each exercise before we turn up the pace towards the end with some full body movements to increase the heartrate!
    For this unilateral full body workout, you will need a pair of dumbbells and your mat! An option is a chair or something to lean against for the single arm rows but you can simply lean supporting hand on opposite knee!
    The dumbbells I am using for your reference are 17.5kg each and 9kg each.
    The timer will be on throughout for 45 seconds of work, 15 seconds rest.
    We will perform most of the exercises for 2 sets per side, however towards the end with the full body movements, it will be one set per side!

      Mine kind of depends on what muscle group I'm using, like my left quad is stronger than my right but my right hamstring is stronger than my left...lol. Have an awesome workout.

    I honestly like unilateral than working both muscle, since I really can't do much reps, but when it is unilateral then I could rest my other side when I do the other side. Thank you for this Caroline! ❤

    Morning everyone...l am in my outdoor clifftop gym again...the last time. It's been frustrating trying to get a mobile signal and difficult to bring equipment here but the view is so superb and I have really enjoyed early morning outdoor workouts. Also I used 10 kgs for my presses for the first time !!! And I could do it on the right hand... left hand needed a bit of support.. but hopefully I'll be able to crush that soon 💗

      Same, I love full body workouts, they test your endurance and strength. This was not so intense like last week, but I feel like it is going to be one of those workouts you really feel the next day. Loved the last 8 minutes, staggered squat to press was🔥 And to finish with dumbbell burpees, what a finish.
      I am really looking forward to unilateral HIIT.

    When doing a quick preview, Caroline makes it look so easy, so I add on a bit more weight. When I am doing the workout, I am breathing heavily, sweating, and grunting.

    When i started i used 3kgs dumbbells and today i was able to do 12reps of the single chest press with 10kgs dumbbell💪🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾
    I used to be skinny weighing 46-48kgs and now am at 54kgs.
    Am really happy with my progress and how much fun am having doing these workouts.
    I found this weeks leg and shoulder day mentally challenging but i was also able to lift heavier since it was one side at a time
    CG is a genius with workouts

My triceps are really sore because I had a push-up competition with my friends yesterday...I won though so it was worth it 😂 We have had a really bad heatwave where I live the past week and the weather is finally starting to cool down so I might go for a hike with my dog after completing this workout. Today is much cooler, so I enjoyed this session so much! This week is all about increasing weights and challenging ourselfs in that way.     These are my favorites. Love how they get more intense toward the end (or maybe its just cause I'm exhausted) with the makers and burpees. They are the best exercises. You really feel you're movin' .

    1 x 20lbs
    Difficulty 8.5/10. Love this one. Unilateral work is my favorite. Love focusing on really pushing it on one side and resting that side while doing the other. Mentally it’s a little bit easier to get through. I also don’t feel as much of a strain on my central nervous system when I do unilateral work. It’s by no means easy, though. My heart rate was up and I had a good sweat going especially by the end. Did this after a long run day so I surprisingly felt super strong and really enjoyed this workout.

    I had to stay off this entire unilateral week. Will probably have to take two more weeks of rest. Between all the workplace work, the workouts, some household chores, I think I hurt my back so bad and did not pay attention to it; I have been advised complete rest for at least two weeks. I can go out for walks. But nothing beats the epic-ness that I feel after completing one of Caroline's workouts.
    Will definitely be checking out what Caroline has in store for us. Even though I will be doing Caroline's beginner series and no equipment workouts for a while.

    Thank you so much again Caroline. I am absolutely loving your workouts. They are perfect for me. I have been incredibly grateful for muscle memory but even more than that, I am stronger than I was when I had to cancel my gym membership in 2018. I pretty much used all my weights today and felt strong and my back felt good too :-)

      I find when feeling the previous workout, its so important to thoroughly warm up, especially with heavy weights. I alway go very heavy, so the Unilateral Calisthenic exercise wasn’t such a shock me.

    Really really enjoyed this week of unilaterals! I also love it being 45 minutes each time, time goes really quick! I've felt like I've really worked all my muscle groups this week with feeling it the morning after! This week will definitely be something I repeat again! Leg day is always my favourite however this week Wednesday was my favourite day so far! Bring on today! 💪🦵🔥

    I can’t believe you were smilling when the squat to press came up !!! Used 35lbs for all the deadlifts 25lbs and 17.5lbs for the rest ! Really pushed myself and omg those one side chest press ! That was a killer !!! Thank you so much for these workouts, so much work is put in to this ! We are so blessed to have you creating this for us, everything is 👌🏻 !

    Loved, loved, loved!! You know you enjoyed the workout when a 45 minute one feels like a quick 20 minute one. Think my hardest move was the staggered squat to press, my shoulders were done in by that point 🔥 I really enjoyed the full body moves at the end, particularly dumbell burpees . Thank you ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

      Hi Nicola...I loved it too...I did it with a mux of 6 kg dumbbell plus band...often used together. Worked OK. Like you I loved the compound moves at the end. Now sitting reading comments and looking at the fantastic view. Breakfast time soon. Matthew

    I've got back to working out from a 3 month break cause things got hard for me financially and I didn't have energy to get up and go to the gym. I used very light (5lbs) weights and took wayy too many breaks but this made me feel happy and accomplished for the first time in months! It's not about the physical but the mental!     Such a great workout. Thank you Caroline for pushing us to our personal max. I couldn't believe the time had got to 70% completed and after that it all went so quickly. I really noticed my core engaging in this session. I upped the weights for the RDLs and used a range of different ones for other exercises depending if lower or upper body. This has been a great week of unilateral workouts, I've really enjoyed them. HIIT will be interesting on Sunday, this will really push my fitness levels. Have a great weekend all. 👋👋

    Hello everyone!
    Just wanted to share that I had severe fever and bad stomach due to staying out in sun
    I was laying in the bed for straight 3 days so I just couldn't do most of this series.. I'm not mad coz I knew I needed that rest. After Monday I didn't workout at all.. Today I did the unilateral arms since it was light weights more rep based.. feeling much much better.. Thinking I'll smash this one tomorrow (still debating to use my 10kgs or not)
    Also I think these mini series idea is fantastic! I think she might have a giant set week, superset week, antagonistic week , tempo training etc 😆😆.. in the store for us!! Hope you all are doing well! Happy friday full body every one ❤❤
