the luckiest guy on you tube award goes to......this guy .
You have no idea! She's a peach.
It's great you have a "helper"!!! 😊
She's a peach!
Nice to see the wife helping....thats so cool. Thanks for saving this old Ford, there is just something magical about these years. My dad had one and we took our first family vacation in it. Soooo many years ago.🤓
My grand father had one. When I told my Dad I got one and he laughed. Coming full circle!
That's looking good what a transformation .
Thanks, it's getting there!
Good job! Solid and sturdy and perfectly acceptable. Besides you got to reverse roles and yell at Jess to keep going and go faster! lol
It's true....... So true!!
Strong and reliable is the way to go. I remember you said this is a driver not a show car. I think this is becoming an amazing build. Thanks .
Thanks for following along!
Yes back on the shoe box! Thanks for the great video 😅
Thanks for watching!!
You're doing great. My brother and I used to "accidentally" shine the light in dad's eyes when we were sick of the criticism. Your bead roller motor maintained a smile, so I guess you didn't pass beyond the crabbiness threshold.
She does shine the light in my eye often though!!
Slow but sure the floor is coming together! Mountains weren't made over night! Keep it going. You have the intestinal fortitude to get it done!
I'm hoping to finish the floor tonight. Slacking on the videos lol.
that bead-roll distraction on the toe board works. Totally called my attention. Great sneakery. :)
Trickery!!
I have been here, you come a long way baby!! Keep going, its looking good.
Thanks!!
Ever consider getting an English wheel?
Sweet!
Looks great!
And btw, Jess is adorable!
Aw thank you!
We have an English wheel in one of the videos. I'm not good with it. In this video you have to settle for the Hot Scottish bead roller!
Yes I been watching since you started on this car if Jess keeps on helping you with the rolling she going to be a lot stronger than you awesome video can't wait for the next one
I'm not even kidding, she is freakishly strong. She handles business at the gym.
Nice job, keep up the build, doing a great job.
Thanks for checking it out!
Always entertaining. Good job. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Excellent work! Not every car needs $3000 in pre-stamped floor pans.
I can't afford it anyway!! Lol
Looks like you’re doing a good job to me
Thanks!!
I ❤ Jess
Good job on the floor it’s not a space ship is it
Just need solid base for seats 👍
That's the idea. Thanks for watching and commenting.
looks good as long as you fully weld it shouldn't be a problem
jess did a great job on the bead roller bet her arms are sore lol
No sore arms here!
Thanks for watching, we appreciate it!
It's looking better with every video.
Love it!! Keep em coming
Thanks for watching!
Coming along quite well!
Been working on the passenger side all morning.
No need to apologize for your work. It's your car, all you need in a floor is strong and watertight. Looks like you have that down. P.S., HI JESS 👍👍
Hi there! Thanks for watching our video! 😊
The floor really turned out nice great job. I know CNN you had revelations about this build but I have always liked these cars
Thanks!
Wow, you are definitely busy with all the different rigs you work on. Nice to see perfect is not always necessary 👍
Getting it done with the tools and skills we have.
Don’t forget to put some seam sealer on the welds Brother!
Absolutely. I need to finish the passenger side and some patches on the back then seal it all up. Thanks for watching!
You're getting good at this ......Well done
Thanks!! Hopefully this keeps moving along.
Excellent; relatable. Love it
Thanks for checking it out!
Don’t matter what anybody else thinks as long as you’re happy with it it’s all good. Not only is your bead roller motor the best looking one is also voice activated lol😂 you guys are awesome.
Awesome thanks for the videos that all I've been doing all my life sticking in the crack😅
Lol😂
Always happy to tune in. I’m enjoying the build and I’m happy that it’s no more than just a backyard build. We can always watch someone with an unlimited budget build from turd to tiara. This is a real enthusiast build ,some Joe with a real job doing something fun and challenging without breaking the bank. Thanks to the both of you. Always nice to see Jess.👍👍🇨🇦
Thanks for the kind words. I've noticed a lot of the channels I watched when they were small until now, where they are hugenow, build big dollar stuff. I can't identify with most of them anymore. It's nice when Holley sends out $20k worth of stuff though!!
@@madgingercustoms ain’t that the truth. I’m an hvac guy and started my own business after almost 20 years working for someone else. Used to see my bosses getting stuff from our suppliers all the time. Only thing they ever gave me for free was a few pens and some note pads. Lol . Keep up the great content and I’ll continue to watch and enjoy.👍🇨🇦
Love to watch the progress my first car was a 49 Ford when I was 14 and I had two 50s later I am 75 now My son gave me a 50 sedan and watching you and your wife working on yours is giving me confidence in tackling mine its just a roller but am looking forward to getting started keep on keeping on
I just finished the floors in front and have them coated. Came out great. That will be the next video.
Looks great from my house 😂😅😊
Thanks!
Love the new video guys. Nice motor you got there! Hope you both are doing great!
This motor is kind of loud though.
I think you underestimate your talent, ideas and final outcome. I am very impressed. Keep it up.
Thank you!
Very cool and innovated fabrication. Great job, great Idea. And fellas, you don't want to get a lovely redhead lady mad! Ever! lol The Irish will be all over you! Thanks for sharing. Loved it.
She's a Scot!! Lol. She does have some Irish in her from time to time.
@@madgingercustoms LOL Close enough! only a little water separates the two.
Good work you guys
Thank you!
Jess definatley makes these videos worth watching, your boring without her
💯
🤣🤣🤣
something you can do to make the bead-roller easier to roll is make the crank handle longer or put a large wheel in its place
I was thinking of modifying the entire thing. It's really flexy. It needs bracing and a work surface.
Looks fine to me .
Thanks!
Well done.
Thank you!
You can hammer-form into a block of high-density fiberboard for the places where you can't get in the throat of the die roller. Karl at Japhands Kustoms [Make It Kustom on CZcams] has a lot of good content on hammer-form and die roll, some cheap ways to get it motorized, and ways to make guides/feed-tables that help control larger panels.
I would put some rubber under your floor brase,so they won't squeek later.😊
I welded the floor pans to them!! Too late lol.
Had a '50 Ford as my first car, it cost $100., cleaned it up, painted it, and then beat it to death. Broke lots of transmissions and axles. Mine came with an overdrive transmission.
This car would be cool with an overdrive transmission. Hoping to keep the Flathead in it. It does shift and move.
I've gotta say I am amazed at the diy ethos and ability. It's a good reminder that at the dawn of the automotive age, most cars were not made in giant factories like today. Going from stamped sheet metal is already pretty awesome these days, going from raw sheet metal is something else! Great video.
We appreciate it! Thank you.
your right... she is to cute to yell at :P
She wouldn't tolerate it anyway!!
@@madgingercustoms hheheh firey redhead, gonna love it. :P
Oh I definitely wouldn't tolerate it!
@@MadGingerJess hehe you go girl. ;p
Yeah. Don't start no chit, won't be no chit.
Looks like a Floor to me.😊
Did the job.
Looks good, just like factory…
Thanks. That's encouraging considering my skill set!
Considering what you had at the beginning of this project , I think you are doing a fine job of bringing this '50 Ford back to life . Your passion for giving life to what most would have called hopelessly deteriorated is something I really admire and appreciate about your work. And that Jess is willing to help at times is very cool . She is a really beautiful lady . Watching you two work together is so cool . That you make due with limitations like the cost of larger tooling and other expenses is also something I admire about you. You are a wonderful gentleman that I , and many others really enjoy watching. You show that you don't need the "out of reach" expensive tooling and equipment to take on a very difficult project and succeed ! Thank you to you and Jess for posting these videos of the '50 Ford revival !!! Keep 'em coming !!!
Thank you for the kind words!! It's appreciated.
the floor looks good, you can use clecos to help with the holding the sheet metal in place and when you get your piece in and drill the holes you can put the piece in the same place.
I bought some panel clamps but really didn't like them. I am going to get a set of Clecos. Thanks!
Awesome vid!!!
Thanks!
Lookin good
Thank you!
😊good Job
Thanks for watching!!
Great Job mate.....
Thank you!
New subscriber, great work! I love the DIY approach! I am just getting started on a 49 2 door sedan myself. I have an 80's Suburban that i am chopping up to build my Ford (blasphemous, I know🤷🏼♂️). Gonna use the drivetrain, wiring and whatever else I can scavenge, and going to use the body of the Suburban for all my floor sheet metal. Use the trans tunnel out if it, and use the roof or floor for my floors. Anyway, fantastic build, and I cant wait to see more!
That sounds like an amazing build!!
Try rolling your beads in two or three passes. The smaller beads will be easier to roll. They should be pretty easy to follow on the repeat passes.
Solid points but then we'd miss out on Jess grunting and struggling.
@@madgingercustoms fair enough... Although I'm thinking we can find something else for her to grunt over.
I’ll start by saying I haven’t welded any sheet metal into my project yet. I’ve done production MIG welding like 30 years ago. I decided on a TIG welder. Might be a mistake. Oh well.
I’m impressed with what you have done. The only thing I’m going to try a little different is not lap welding. I saw on a MotorTrend video how they got their part close to size overlapping, then cut through both peices leaving an 1/8” gap. They did it to make it look perfect. Mine ain’t gonna look that perfect, but getting rid of the lap gets rid of spots where moisture can get in. I might find it impossible to accomplish, remains to be seen.
I am really enjoying your content. We’re both doing things on the cheap. I always strive to get good results as cheaply and efficiently as possible.
Yeah if the car was a resto I'd do a lot differently. Cut and butt would be one of them.
@@madgingercustoms yeah, mine will be resto-mod at best. Watching one of your videos now. Great stuff!
All it matters is if you like it. It looks great from what I can see. I don't see anything wrong with it because I've never done a floor let alone patch panels but it looks good. I have a friend of washington d quarter panels and floors
Well it's what I taught myself so it will do.
Looks good!! I was thinking about making some hammer forms to remake the floor beads. But all of my floor is being replaced. So it doesn't really matter. On the Woodward fab roller, the frame flexes bad and causes the binding and weird tracking issues. Looking forward to the next vid. Looks like we have rain all weekend so maybe I can go back and watch some other vids. Oh, and love the editing!!!!
The frame certainly shifts back and forth so you need to track diagonally. I've seen guys weld channel all the way around to strengthen them up.
Some Home Depot black indoor/outdoor carpet will hide everything. Welding rusty metal is near impossible no matter how clean you get it I found. I welded my floor pans and it looked like popcorn. For the trunk pan I used 3M panel bond, much quicker installation and I didn’t have to go back and seam seal everything like you do with welding.
The panel bond is interesting!!
@@madgingercustoms it’s not cheap and you have to buy the special caulk gun for it, but it’s reported to be stronger than welding. You can even weld around it and it doesn’t affect its strength. Most modern car manufacturers use it to build cars today. All the cars I own are rust buckets and panel bond is time saver to fix body panels and floor pans with.
G'day Ginger Fam, I Fking love that shoe box. Wish i can get one here in Australia!! 🙂
There are a bunch locally for sale here. Honestly they don't really pull much money here.
@@madgingercustoms maybe we should collaborate and try and get 1 back to Australia 🇦🇺 🤔 could be fun!!
Looks like a strong, durable floor excellent job, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
Thanks for watching!! Have a great weekend.
You guys are doing a very good job on these floors. Might not be “factory” but it is very adequate and strong. I suggest using rust converter on the car chassis to treat it; looks pretty crispy. 😉
Yeah I have a gallon of Ospho but will probably need much more!
Would it help lightly oil the pattern lines. Just an oily rag I think will ease the process. Candle wax works when planing wood. Just a shot in the dark. Love your content and can appreciate your budget
That is a solid idea!! I will try that!
She's gonna have arms to steal
I motorized that bead roller in a newer video! Check that out!
Arms of steel? Or arms to steal? Hmmm both sound interesting! 😊
Go by the keek panel shape for the bend.
You keep talking about fine tuning try a box of self taping screws to pull the sheets togather and the good thing is you can weld then remove the screws and reuse them, then weld up the holes, I think the stuff your doing looks great just remember perfect is the enemy of damn good.
Solid points!! Thank you.
Floor looks good. Paint and seem sealer , maybe some peel and stick sound debtor. No one will ever know. You might be able to find a 5 speed trans out of a Ranger fairly cheap.
All good suggestions!!! I do have a gift from Sweet Patina for the floors!! Should look great!!
When are you coming over to my house to help with my rockers and floor pans? Haha
Lol no one should be looking for my help!! I'm learning as I go.
it would have been better to have a table for the sheet metal to slide over rather that trying to hold the sheet up.
But it looks good. And most likely carpet will be over the floor anyway.
We thought about using one of the sheet metal rollers from our plasma table. I may just build a deck around the roller.
Great video. I had the same problem with contamination on my 50 F1 build. Wonder how a video on cut and butt would do just a thought.
I see Fitzee loving it. I thought about it. Maybe on the other side!
great hair on the pretty lady!
Aww thank you!
Hah hah haha you said “work those arms”.
She's a good sport!
Could we get a tour of the bikes someday?
It's funny, I love building bicycles and motorcycles. Didn't think anyone would want to see that. I watch a lot of that on CZcams. Spindatt, Bermpeak, Hardtail party.
@@madgingercustoms I love tinkering with bicycles. I’ve converted old steel frame road bikes to disc brakes and restored my dream bike from high school.
@@FunStuffFromND I spent years converting old 90's MTB to gravel bikes. I really just like tinkering. We just recently gave 2 away to friends that now ride with us. I build bikes almost all the time when I'm not working on cars but it's off brand for the channel and I never thought anyone would watch lol.
@@madgingercustoms I used to restore vintage bicycles . I'd love to see you work on bicycles of any period ! I have a passion for old bicycles since I was a young kid. I'll be 69 in July !!
Bad Chad always uses wire hangers for fill
Well I suppose that's true lol. Proper fitment would certainly be best though. Also, I may not able to get the proper fitment!
Ok damned it 10 minutes in and I have so many inappropriate jokes. Uggg but another great video, I love that is unscripted normal dude weekend project style work.
You have no idea the inappropriate stuff that needs to be refrained from while recording. We try to keep it PG.
😂😂😂😂😂
Morski
you look a little like Morski
Nice job.
Did the master cylinder go under that floorboard?
It is. One of the other videos I did all the brakes.
👍🏻🇦🇺💯⛽️
- What are you going to use for an access door to get to the master cylinder?
I still need to cut one in. I'll hole saw an access hole and make a cover I can screw or clamp in.
Cool! 😎@@madgingercustoms
