    She's a beauty! We had a wrecked 51 on our property when I was a kid.. I used to set in it and pretend to drive, until the hornets got me one day. (I'm glad you kept the steering wheel stock)

    That's one of my favorite cars. My uncle had a black one around 1965\66 like it that use to be a X police car that had a flat head V8 that ran very good. after a few years he got a 1954 Ford and sold it to his youngest brother. He drove it quite a while back and forth to school and raced it a few times. He stopped at a stop sign and someone rear-ended him and tootled it out. But as a kid I loved that car. I remember at that time at the other end of the block was a old lot filled with bronze and white 1857 Chevys.

    This car is great. I recently got my 51 shoebox. Primered black, and built ratty by the PO. I'd live to sand it and go pantina but he was bindo happy. Has a 350sbc sitting on a Gbody that's been stretched 4in.

    Don't know how i missed this upload. That's a riot that this used to be your buddy Bernie's car. It's cool to hear all the stories "before the build" haha.

    Just found through tic tok cool car, but and there's always a but, 351ws can go 110 over, Ford didn't make it thin wall like the 289-302s so 060 is no biggy. You got a "69 probably the best and first year.

    What kind of music does your band play? Out here in the foothills of the Sierra, I play my Emmons pedal steel or a string bender Tele. Sometimes I drag out the old Les Paul and remember my youth. That's a very cool car you made.

      Former band now. We disbanded a while back. We did traditional rockabilly as well as some more upbeat punk influenced stuff. On my own indona little traditional folk country thing. Played bass in the rockabilly band, play guitar for the other. I'm a fender man. Got quite a few telecasters. Also got a gibson blues hawk and a jazzmaster

I had to get a 69 vw bug back in solid shape ( metal fab.)and yeah the guy threw in a 390 and mercomatic trans, Lincoln 9 inch rear axle… it’s going on a little over a year now …. still working on it. Great car man! i have a 1950 custom coupe im bringing back! curious, did you have to shorten the one side of your explorer 8.8?

    • @greasyboykustoms
      @greasyboykustoms  Před rokem

      Nope I did not. Seen lots of people say to do that but I didn't have an issue. Also I am running 16" wheels with a different offset than the factory wheels to allow them to clear in the rear.

    • @WhosthatguyTX
      @WhosthatguyTX Před rokem

      @@greasyboykustoms right on. I was measuring and figured it wouldn’t be too hard to get an extra 1 1/8 clearance on each side. Think I’ll mock it up and see 🤘🏼

      I used the cheap stuff off Amazon lol. Brand was called "noico." Works surprisingly well. Been up for almost 3 years and never come loose. It's was like 150$ for enough to do the floor, trunk, doors and cieling

    Get that trunk space back with a mustang tank my friend

    • @greasyboykustoms
      @greasyboykustoms  Před 2 lety

      The stock tank was fine. The fuel injection was the leading cause of the fuel cell. Unfortunately the fitec injection fuel pump must be gravity fed aka below the fuel tank which would have placed it in a very crappy spot. I'll be switching out the pump and re installing a stock tank in the future

      On my '49 I put 4" drop springs in the rear. I had about 5" of ground clearance between the tank and road. I still want to bring it down another couple inches. That could make for a bad time if theres a large rock or anything in the road

    • @greasyboykustoms
      @greasyboykustoms  Před 2 lety +1

      @@ninja63639 absolutely. If I end up notching mine to drop it any lower I'll definetly ditch the stock tank .

    Question: how did you get the rear disc e brake to work?

    • @greasyboykustoms
      @greasyboykustoms  Před 2 lety +1

      I didn't on this car but have on others. . if your are using a caliper that runs a cable you can use universal cables to attach to your existing front e brake cable and make it work with your factory lever or use a universal after market e brske lever and cables like the ones sold by lokar
