Great video, another tip... on FCP EURO you can purchase the full valve cover kit which comes with all necessary and common failure parts. Also everything comes pre-installed on the valve cover so it saves time. I also highly recommend replacing the spark plugs while doing this job since you’re already in there.

Couple pointers. Should have removed the tray before removing the valve cover to avoid dirt and debris falling into the engine. also should cover the fuel injectors with caps to avoid dirt going in them. I understand you are flat rate, but you shouldnt cut corners because of that. Client is king and expect quality work. Good Video.

Hey thx for the video especially the tightning chart. Quick question there is a piece sticking out from underneath the valve cover that could fall off during removal or reinstallation, can you help me understand what does that piece do? Unfortunately on my valve cover the base for that piece also fell off so I can't simply put it back on without gluing. I didn't install it when I put the cover back on, been about 150 miles and fine so far

i have a 2013 x5 6 cylinder. one mechanic said I really should replace the valve cover AND the gasket, but I haven't heard of that being necessary yet. Another mechanic told me to replace the gasket. It's definitely leaking and needs to be done in the next day or so. I was notified of leakage a year or so ago, but it was minimal at that time. The one mechanic said that since the valve cover is plastic it bends over time and simply adding a new gasket may not take care of a perfect seal anymore. I'm hesitant to spend the extra hundreds of dollars on a new valve cover. What do you think ??

I guess it’s all wins for BMW, cheaper to manu, less weight for fuel Mil, and they have a continuing income stream replacing.
