I’ve learned a lot from you Doug! Thanks for doing what you do!
Glad it’s helped. Thank you for letting me know. Means a lot
Thank you for being honest for us new guys with smaller washers
Very welcome. glad it helps
Great video, as always Doug. Appreciate you Sir!!!
Thank you.
Great video. Saving this one.
First time coming across your videos with this one. I really appreciate your approach to educating us in your videos. You remind me a lot of my late grandpa. He too had a visibly genuine passion for what he did and loved helping people. I'll be using your company for what I can going forward. Thank you for a great video sir.
Just received my second order from Doug’s store and wow hands down the best on the market. Was going to buy a few QC on Amazon but ended up ordering through the store. I am new to pressure washing as a side hustle .Just a chuck in a truck is what they call us I guess.I know one thing, I got some nice hose and fittings 😂. You got a customer for life and thanks for the 🧢 and O rings. The hand written note 📝 sealed the deal. 10/10 and 5 star rating.
Thank so much Jerome. Appreciate the kind words and your business very much.
You are a, teacher. Well done, very concise and informative video. Thank you.
Thank you. Appreciate it.
This was a great help Doug. Setup my M5 Twist to shoot solution and rinse . Will keep My Jrod for backup. This definitely got rid of the mist hands down. Now I can look up in between apartment buildings and not get a SH shower. God Speed
Glad is working out for you, thanks for letting me know
@@PressureCleaningSchis it true that the modified m5 pulls less sh? That's what other guys are saying on other videos.
Just ordered this bad boy from you a few minutes ago. Cant wait to try it out
Plus a couple nozzles
Thank you very much it’s on the way
I really appreciate your videos Doug, watching your channel from Vancouver BC Canada. Your knowledge and expertise have helped me start my own softwash/ pressure wash business. You’re the man!!!
Thank you Jeffrey. Glad they’ve been of help to you.
thank for the info
Hey thank you for all the info. Is it possible to make a "modified wand" instead of a full "modified gun"?
Hey Doug, Following you from Anna, TX.
~ Iron Mike
Hello Michael, hope all is well.
Great video Doug, if you use longer hose ( 50,100 ft), do you still get the same chemical mix ratio out of the gun tip compared to 25 ft hose? Thank you sir
Yes sure do.
Hi mate, I’m from Australia. Just saw your video. Been sometime in pressure cleaning and new to softwashing and xjet
In the video you are saying not to use proportioning tips with SH? Any reason for that and without those how do you achieve say 1.25 or 2% ratios?
Just so you are clear I don’t run a softwash setup. I’m using my pressure washing rig for softwashing with xjet. Cheers
@Doug Rucker
I recently bought an X-Jet from you. I' not too mechanically inclined.
Can you tell me what parts I need with the 12 inch lance?
The fittings for the XJet modification you said we can get at any box store. The ones I am finding are not rated for high pressure. What are the fitting you sell on your store rated at?
Could you take apart the m5 and use it same as a downstream injector near the base of your pressure washer? That way you wouldn't have to carry the bucket with you. Just trying to think of ideas as I start out.
Thanks for your help!
No It doesn't act like a DS injector
I was wondering if this modification would work with a weaker pressure washer or if it would negatively affect the distance it can shoot? For example a 2.5GPM unit, would it shoot the solution as far as an unmodified version?
Hi Doug- do you think the xjet m5 needs to be modified to apply SH/soft-wash to a wood fence? Trying to find a faster way than using a 2 gallon pump up sprayer. Thanks!
It would definitely cut down on pressure and over spray and be much faster than a pump up
I was planning to use Xjet and M5 twist for my setup with no J-rod, can I do the modified xjet and continue to use the xjet nozzle on the end without it having that back pressure?
Yes you can
I may have to get one of these finally. I’ve been using the original Xjet for almost 20 years. There’s quite a bit of mist with that. Will the M5 shoot as high as the original?
Yes it will
I already have the xjet and the gun i need to purchase the lance and the other parts
Hey Doug!! Can you use this setup or a regular xjet and use a diaphram pump instead of a pressure washer?
No. Won’t work.
what is the thread on the X-jet, BSP or NPT?
Once modified and keeping the M5 nozzle as a seperate piece, will it pull soap from a DS injector off of a normal gun (not the modified xjet gun)?
It should yes.
Is there any way I can use the smaller holes on my jrod with this mod? Maybe permanent attach the hose to the xjet?
No. They cause to much back pressure and the hose will still come off.
I'm going to order this modified xJet Kit with gun, 5gal tank, and Jrod, but isn't it better to get the two nozzle Jrod instead of the four? If the other two smaller orfice nozzles create backprressure and blow the hose, why get the four nozzle? I see you have both on your website. Also Doug do you have any chemicals that disolve spider webs, I know the mix will kill them, but the webs seem to stay in place.
The two nozzle is fine. But if you want to use the 4 Jrod that’s used on your pressure washer you can, that way you only have one Jrod set up. Personal preference thing. I use a cob web duster for cob webs. Don’t know if anything that “dissolves” them.
Bought the 5 gallon x jet bucket from you. Wondering how many gallons of 10% bleach to 5 gallons of water? Not using the fittings that messure bleach. House wash and roof wash. Learned a lot from all your videos.
For roofs probably full strength. Not the ideal way to clean a roof though. For houses it all depends on the surface and degree of staining.
@Doug Rucker I was thinking about 50-50 for house wash. Using 4gpm 4000psi belt drive.
@@marksmith6435 All depends on the surface and staining.
I keep putting it in my cart but idk if I can swing it, it’s really the shipping that’s killing me lol
@@JuicyBrisketyour first job will pay for it. It’s one of my best purchases. And I’m using 2.5% for my batches and it works totally fine. 1 gallon of 10% to 4 gallons water. Had no issues at all. Go for it man.
Hey Doug. I want to run this set up. Do you know the max length of hose and XJet will still successfully draw from? Ideally, would be nice to have an xjet hose on a reel, leave the bucket on the truck and drag the 2 hoses around. Let me know what you think.
I’ve used it w 100 feet no problem.
Hi Doug, if too small of a nozzle will cause the xjet hose to pop off how do we switch to rinse only? Right now I have your modified xjet but I have to switch to a new gun every time I want to rinse, it seems very inefficient.
By using the 3/8 two way valve. It will turn the bleach off so you pull water only.
@Doug Rucker Honestly didn't even think of that.... and then you just continue using the nozzle you are using. Thank you!!!!
Sorry Doug I asked you a question 3 weeks ago and I went to change out and modify today and I realized something that maybe I wasn't clear about in my last question.
Since I don't use a j-rod, currently all I do is when I soap m5 twist, when I rinse xjet. I realized today when I took apart the xjet that now it's going to pull chem just like the m5 twist does right since the orifice is no longer at the tip? Does that mean I'll have to buy another xjet with the orifice still attached in order to rinse without pulling chem? I don't walk back to the truck to remove the chem injector from the bleach tank. Sorry if this is confusing.
You just need a 3/8 poly valve at the x jet hose to go from soap to rinse. Just like on the non modified original x-jet. We have them on our site
@Doug Rucker I was talking more about down streaming. I like the adjustable xjet nozzle I can use for rinsing, and the m5 twist for applying soap. Once I remove the guts of the xjet and add a nozzle at the end won't it pull soap from down streaming just like m5 twist. Would I need to buy another xjet in order to rinse?
I just remove the 3/8 hose from the barb when I dont want to pull chem from xjet 🤣
hi, I have a 2.3gpm 3100psi machine, thinking of getting an xjet m5 #7. If I modify it and put say the jrod nozzles on it, will it affect the reach of the stream?
No it won’t affect it. I just can’t guarantee the reach you will get for ti the low GPM of the machine.
I had a similar question. I'm running a 2.8 GPM w/ 3100 PSI pressure washer..what were your results? Did it work for you?
do you need that lance on there or could you just skip it and put a 1/4 coupler on there?
I prefer it. I’ve never actually used one without the lance but as long as it’s too much weight on the end I’m thinking you could do that. Just have to test it see if it works for you. May cause a stream issue or more atomization though. Again not sure since I’ve never actually tried it myself.
What should you use to properly proportion bleach with an xjet?
I don’t use any proportioner when using bleach.
12:00 quick connect. 1742 plastic fuel filter one side heat crimped
Hi Doug, I can’t seem to find the tip you’re using on the modified x-jet in this video, would love to pick one up if you sell em
It’s an 0040
@@PressureCleaningSch thank you boss!
Do the kit comes with the Twist Nozzle or is that separate
We do sent the nozzle that came off the x-jet with the plug fitting installed in it so you can use that if you want too.
Doug I need that setup I will call you thanks
Does the x jet modified gun change the ratio at all or does it stay the same?
It will change it if you use the proportioning inserts but otherwise no it doesn’t really change it.
I have seen guys go to a step below what the GPM is rated, so if they have a 5-6.5 GPM they use the xjet for 4 GPM because it’s claimed to have more “slap”. Thoughts? Test?
Just ordered the gun, the ratio with no proportioner stays pretty much the same as un-modified with no proprtioner correct?
Correct
Hey Doug, can I soft wash roof with this modified xjet?
You could, but you’re going to go through a lot of bleach and very fast. And I will also depend on how bad the staining is.
@@PressureCleaningSch thank you Doug
Try throttling down the pressure washer, I've seen others use it this way and work.
I was just thinking yesterday, while I was applying some sodium metasilicate and oxalic acid on the second story of a log cabin with my 8GPM Xjet, that I sure wish I could get rid of this excessive misting…, voilà!
What's the sodium metasilicate used for?

Will a shooter tip work good on a jrod with this modified gun or will it blow it off as well
Shooter tip will work fine.
What would be the best orifice to take off on the jrod to replace with the shooter tip
@@IfarinuOgunlana the small orifice shooter. But the larger shooter should work fine
The high rinse spray shooter? Thanks Doug for the help you give and the great videos you put out I can’t wait for the modified gun pail and hose to come in I’m ready to put them to use
@@IfarinuOgunlana that is correct and your very welcome
If you leave it fully open n the 5 gallon filled with pure sh . What percent sh is coming out if it was brought for 4 gpm machine
1.6-1 according to the x-jet manual. Chart is in the manual and is on our web site in the item description just above the Video. www.dougruckerstore.com/products/x-jet-modified-gun/
1.6-1 percent?
Does your modified XJet come with/use the M5 Twist nozzle?
Does not come with it but yes it can be used
@@PressureCleaningSch so we are supposed to use our own jrod correct
@@BlackSheepEvents yes and use only the two larger orifice nozzles, (Soap high and soap low) or an M5 twist will work too
Would a #7 x jet modifier work for a 2.5gpm
It should. It really all depends on the machine. Your taking a chance on buying one and hoping it works. Those small machine ratings are usually overrated.
It should THANKS that's the money be bless SIR
@@jonahcalbacch1517 you too. Thank you
Will it dilute sh and by how much? Ty
Yes. Depends on your machine. Their us a chart available that will tell you
Does the RTU modified gun come with the M5 nozzle?
It comes with the nozzle that we take off to modify it. We put the plug end on it and ship it with the order.
I have a 4 gpm machine will this work
Yes it will.
If I were to build my own, does it matter how long the lance is?
No not really.
If you buy the modified version, does the black m5 adjustable tip still come with it?
@@gagelirette22 yes
Is there a way to add a quick connect to the x jet so you can change out from the 12 inch lance to like a 48 inch lance? And would the produce normal pressure to like edge driveways when the x jet is connected but not pulling bleach. Or should I just get a second gun and leave the x jet for rinsing and applying bleach?
@@gagelirette22 you’d have to add the extension Lance to the end of the 12”. And no not enough pressure to edge driveways.
Can you just skip the first step (removing the male qc plug) if your gun has qc?
Also can you use the included ball valve as a means of controlling the amount of sh being injected (since we can't use proportioned with sh)
I have not tried either of these methods so not sure if it will work the way you want or not. You'd just have to try it and see if it works for you.
I use proportioners with sh all the time. I’m not sure why he says you shouldn’t.
What is the purpose of this x-jet modification??
Towards the end of the video about 23:00 you can see the purpose
why modify the x jet? just a newbie and i have a lot of questions
There’s some other videos here that explain it and show why.
Can any gun be used?
Pressure gun? Yes as long as rated correctly for your machine
@@PressureCleaningSch I may just order the modified kit and get the pail another time, shipping is killing me
@@JuicyBrisket call us tomorrow we can check the shipping. 2816121223
@@PressureCleaningSch will do! Thank you sir!
On roof cleanings with this mod will use of the x jet proportioners (still foam and clean effectively) AND save on bleach use?
No you won’t get the foaming like the unmodified version
@@PressureCleaningSch Thanks Doug!
