    Thanks for sharing your knowledge in this excellent video Doug. I'm curious what the limitations are for the pickup (lateral and vertical) of the pickup line from the injector to the machine, i.e. if using a bucket for chemical at ground level with a machine in a pickup bed is this an issue that needs to be considered? Also does it vary by pump size? Thanks so much...

    • @PressureCleaningSch
      @PressureCleaningSch  Před 3 lety +3

      I have down streamed out of a bucket many times from my machine on a truck and the bucket on a ground. Main thing you want to be careful of is not making your siphon tube to long. 10-12 feet is about the max you'd want to go. Pump really wont matter unless it's a store bought low gum direct drive, then you may have an issue. Great question, thanks for posting.

    Hey Sir, great segment! Question for anyone out here. Just got a NEW downstream injector General Pump, it worked well for one house but then every time I got off the trigger on the gun, it would start shooting water back up the downstream hose!!! Its on an 8 gpm machine.

    Hey Doug again! Quick question, if I use the xjet attach to the end of the water gun, the amount of hippocloride that comes out of the gun would not change much from the concentration I have in my bucket right?
    And also how strong do I need my mix in my bucket?
    Thanks!

  • @jamiehutchens802

    Thank you for the information that you provide. My question is, if I'm washing a shingle roof or a vinyl siding house, will my chemical mixture bucket be only sh and surfactants? I just bought a down stream for my 4gpm machine and will be mixing and pulling from a 5 gallon bucket.

    • @PressureCleaningSch
      @PressureCleaningSch  Před 2 lety

      depends on the surface and how bad the staining is. With a 4GPM machine you may want to dilute your mix if your cleaning non porous surfaces. Like Vinyl. Downstreaming mix is not strong enough for roof cleaning. Need a dedicate pump like our Kingslinger

    While wash/rinsing a house, you have a remote system, or a bypass unit. Could you just change from soap or rinse on the Jrod and prevent from going to the truck with a bypass system?

    • @PressureCleaningSch
      @PressureCleaningSch  Před 3 lety

      Yes you can...by switching to a higher pressure nozzle it will cut off the flow as long as that nozzle is restoring the PSI loss and the nozzle is in good condition.

    Hey Doug thank you for all the helpful info. One question, I have a 3.5 gpm unit, and I'm using a jrod, well I actually have the quadrod, would I get more distance by having a dedicated gun without a wand or does the length of the wand increase pressure therefore increasing reach? Or my reach is limited by my gpm? Hope the question came out clear. Thank you in advance.

    • @PressureCleaningSch
      @PressureCleaningSch  Před 3 lety +1

      Your reach is limited by the GPM. An extension wand just allows your nozzle to get closer to the surface.

    Hey Doug, I just recently put together a 8gpm belt driven machine. New to power washing so not that familiar with everything yet. I've heard a 3-5 down stream injector pulls more chemical on a 8gpm. Have you had experience with this or would you recommend me purchase a 5-8gpm down stream injector? Also, when post treating; should I add soap to the mix or just SH? Thanks for any help!!

    • @PressureCleaningSch
      @PressureCleaningSch  Před 2 lety

      I use the 3-5 on my 8GPM and works great and does pull a stronger mix. And yes always add soap for post treating or any cleaning really. Don’t need a lot but it just helps the cleaning vs no soap.

    Hello Doug, I have an adjustable injector. I put the line into a gallon jug and it sucked it dry in no time. If I had say a 5 gal bucket with solution in it and started washing , how can I adjust the rate at which it draws as not to empty the bucket before I even get half way through a small wall. Hope this makes sense

    • @PressureCleaningSch
      @PressureCleaningSch  Před 2 lety +1

      If it's and adjustable injector you should be able to adjust it, but if you are doing one wall and is emptying the bucket that quick, thats way too fast even at full open on the injector. The injector w use, we can clean almost a whole 2500-3000 sq ft house with one 5 gallon bucket.

    If you are using a Schertz box, do you still need a downstream bypass? I recently had a Schertz box installed. I notice when using high-pressure tips, I get a high pitch sound coming from or around the hose area. When I switch to a black tip, the sound goes away. Is that normal

    • @PressureCleaningSch
      @PressureCleaningSch  Před 3 lety +1

      You dont have to have a bypass, I don't. But you can if you want. On the high pitch sound I;d look for a small leak somewhere, at a fitting, in the hose...never really heard of that before but thats the only thing I can think of that would cause it.

  • @856volcom

    Howz it Doug? Mahalo for this extremely helpful video! I have been trying to find someone to really breakdown the downstream basics but they where hard to listen to, until I stumbled on your page and I just like the way you describe the process. So I have a question that I hope you can answer. I work full time at a great place called Puhi Paint on the island of Kauai and because of the relationships I’ve made with contractors and homeowners I would get asked if I wanted to make some extra money pressure washing the house before they paint. So i did a few jobs here and there and turns out I actually loved it. Anyways, I guess there is a serious need for this industry because now I’m getting people calling my phone to wash there homes, business etc. So I want to do this full time and start my own company but I have a big issue that I am clueless on and that’s pricing. I’ve got no experience on quoting jobs and honestly I don’t even know where to start on pricing a job. Anyways I understand if you aren’t able to reply about this but if you do have a way that I could learn how to price customers I would really appreciate it. Aloha 🤙🏼

    • @PressureCleaningSch
      @PressureCleaningSch  Před rokem

      So pricing is really based on your business either where you are at now, or maybe where you plan to be in the future. What you can charge today as a one man operation will change down the road as you grow and hire staff. You need to know what it takes to operate your business and be profitable. No one can really tell you what you should charge. I could tell you what I charge, but that would have nothing to with the cost's to operate YOUR business. Charging by the hour, by the square foot, or any other way, has to align with what it takes you to make your company profitable, as well as paying you, employees. etc. For me, or anyone to tell you what they charge, or provide you a list, even as a base guideline, doesn't mean it can work for you or me. Feel free to email me at pressurecleaningschool@gmail.com and we can discuss further if you'd like.

    Is it ok to cap off the downstream hose from your bucket or switch hose to a clean bucket of water, or does it matter? I assume you can’t just leave drop hose end open. Thanks

    • @PressureCleaningSch
      @PressureCleaningSch  Před 3 lety

      I wouldn't cap it off, you could use a bypass injector set up or like you said switch hose to a clean bucket of water. While leaving the hose open won't hurt anything, it will cause it to suck in air and then you'll lose pressure and flow, and your water will spit as opposed to a nice continuous flow. Bucket of clean water may be the easiest thing to do.

I done 3 jobs with it so far and didn't have any issues. Could I do something to prevent future issues? Changing the tips perhaps? Thank you for your videos! Very helpful!

    I noticed my surface cleaner was spraying some soap when I get the down stream injector hooked up. This was the first use of the day and I wasn’t sure if the garden hose pressure was building up soap in the hose lines while I was getting the pw machine turned on. I decided not to risk it and just disconnected the downstream injector until I needed it but I was wondering if garden hose pressure will syphon a little bit of the soap if the machine is not on at first?

Let’s say 11 gallons total, that would be a 10:1 ration right? Then 12.5% SH divided by 10 would be shooting out the tip 1.25% SH ?
    Then I could add water to the straight SH to adjust the ratio out the tip of the gun?
