  • Hasbro doesn't seem to want to make toys anymore. They've just announced that they are licensing Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to Playmates, the maker of TMNT toys. Could other Hasbro licenses and even D&D also get outsourced?

Ok, this is not rocket science. When a company like Hasbro tells DnD customers you're not welcome and we hate you, don't buy our stuff. Which DnD did to its primary customer, you can bet a total collapse of profit is going to hit. Then Hasbro did the same thing. They wanted this fictitious group of DEI customers who don't support anything or anyone, and it totally cost them everything. Now, they are scrambling to try and make some kind of profit. So, of course, they will outsource products if they are better and cost less than what they are making. Business is not hard, but Hasbro has people who are blinded by politics and do not understand how to make a company successful.

So let’s see Hasbro has spent decades buying out there rivals like Kenner, Tonka, WoTC and others , and now decide they don’t want to be a toy company??? Or was it rather they hired a leadership team whose background is in computer gaming who were unaware that Hasbro was a toy company, and didn’t know how to run a toy company

Milton Bradley and Parker Brothers are two of the most iconic board companies ever made for such classics like “Monopoly”, “Game Of Life”, “Connect Four” and many more. Selchow & Righter also had “Scrabble” and “Trivial Pursuit” all belongs to Hasbro.
In addition to these board games, there were game shows based off of board games. “Scrabble” was the game show hosted by Chuck Woolery ran from 1984 until 1990 and then revived in 1993 for just one year. “Scrabble” was the game show that I remember as a kid.

The leaders are like kids who have no concept that things existed before their time.
Hasbro got out of the video game industry 20+ years ago to focus on their core brands of toys. They learned from the glut of Phantom Menace toys and were less reliant on licenced properties.
Then, they got new leadership and all those lessons are forgotten.

EHEM, These ARE NOT Sentai toys. Please understand that there is a difference between Bandai Japan and Bandai America. Have you actually taken a look at these crappy toys that they've been making for Power Rangers? Or Transformers? OR ANYTHING in their franchises for the last DECADE? Like seriously have you seen them!?! My young cousins wont even TOUCH them (Power Rangers), meanwhile, I brought over the Sentai versions and they were all over them.
Their "best" Power Rangers since Samurai was probably "Dino Charge", and they were all pretty much downhill from there. They're made from cheap materials, they are crappy molds, they destroyed the gimmicks (including their own). The Morphers barely function as RPG devices and even then, you have to turn off the sound effects because they keeps spouting out pointless catchphrases instead of focusing on the actual function of what they are DESIGNED to be.
I'm sorry, but even if I adjusted for Inflation, these crappy toys weren't worth the plastic that they were molded with. Frankly, I'm shocked that all of these toy reviewers wont tell it like how it ACTUALLY is.

Them wanting to go into digital products (video games) isnt going to the magical unicorn they think it is. Since most game publishers want to move away from making licensed games due to the risks, limited creative freedom, but mainly due the headaches around game preservation and the uncertainty of making sequels & prequels. Which is why most video game publishers want to focus on their own catalogues, who filled to the brim with beloved ip's that have been laying dormant for decades. I think Hasbro will come home to a cold shower, if they think the gaming industry is eager to take on licensed projects. The platform holders Xbox & SIE already spoke about this at the end of the previous console gen, and more recently Activison, Ubisoft and EA revealed they are going to focus more on their own ip catalogues as well in the years to come.

On the plus side, apparently Playmates' TMNT toys are doing well with kids, so maybe they can do better with Power Rangers. I've heard collectors complaining that the Lightning Collection is probably going to end now, but let's be honest...LC was trash, if I had a nickel for every picture I saw on Facebook of a broken LC figure I could afford something on Hasbro Pulse.

I've been collecting the Lightning Collection since 2019 it wasn't all that bad. SPD red was to dark in the color, and you had to be careful talking the helmets and head off and on. If you scraped the residue paint off inside the head/helmet it connects and disconnects smoothly. Only fig I had break was Trini in the neck area before I discovered scraping the paint in the head/helmet.
